Shorai SHO-BMS01 Lithium Battery Charger

Q: Does the charger wiring come with the waterproof covers to protect it from weather on the bike? If not, do you sell them?

I've got this charger and the matching Shorai battery on my Ducati. The way it works is it plugs into a port on the battery itself and then it has a pig tail come off on the end going to the charger that does have a rubber boot/cover you put over it when you're not charging it. I thought it was a pretty nice setup, but expensive.

Q: Do i need to disconnect battery first before charging? Im wondering if i can leave it in since it has a special plug

no, just plug it in and let her rip! you can get a plug that can be left in so all you have to do is plug in the charger to it and you don't have to access the battery at all (I use one on my motorcycles and atv)

Q: Does this charger have any advantage over the deltran battery tender for lifepo4 at less than half the price?

If you have a Shorai battery then you can only use this charger because it plugs into the battery and does not connect to the positive and negative terminals. If you don't have a Shorai battery, then this charger will not work for your needs.

Q: I'm gathering the devise is not weather sealed at all looking at the huge vents?

No, not weather sealed. Cord is quite short too. Both to plug in to AC power and the output to the battery. Even in my garage, I have to run an extension cord. Wouldn’t consider charging anything outside with it over night….but honestly, you don’t need to. Batteries charged in as little as 1 hour. Longest I’ve waited for a full charge was 2 hours
