It would have been nice to maybe receive a coupon code or something for ...
they came late due to an inventory issue I believe. but I am very excited to see how well they perform vs other brands I have used. It would have been nice to maybe receive a coupon code or something for a future purchase from them since I had to wait past the original date. but otherwise sturdy build which is wonderful.

NOT AS ADVERTISED
The filters were not the size as advertised nor were they "AirShield" brand. They arrived with no label on them and they measured 3 1/2 NOT 4 inches, 19 1/2 NOT 20 inches and 23 1/2 not 24 inches. They simply left gaps everywhere and were plainly too small. Did not open package until I need one so missed the return date.

Seem like a decent filter
These came exceptionally packaged, and arrived undamaged, something I was a little worried about. One thing I was disappointed with though was that upon opening, there was no labeling other than the size and airflow direction on the filters, completely "brown-boxed". There is a small label on the outside of the packaging showing the MERV 11 rating, Manufacturing date and Made in USA designation though. Compared to other Allergen filters I've gotten in the past, these do not seem like they have a high MERV rating, the pleats are wider like a standard filter, but I have no way to actually verify, other than real-use.The pleats do have a soft thick textured fabric feel to them, probably what gives them their rating without the need to increase the number of pleats like other filters do. (I'm no expert on this, just an end user) With a son sensitive to allergens it's important that the filters for my HVAC system perform well and so far these do seem to be fitting that bill. We live in a heavily wooded area, we have a cat and a dog - so allergens are plentiful here and these filters do seem to be keeping the dust down in the house - no sneezing fits by anyone yet! I'll know in another month or so on how well these are still performing and how dirty they get.

Take a deep breath.
I'm not in the industry. Some years ago I did a lot of online searching and spoke with a couple HVAC techs. The consensus is that the optimal MERV (Minimum-Efficiency Reporting Value--a measure of the efficiency with which filters remove particles of specific sizes) for home furnace filters is around 10. Cheap washable fiberglass filters can be down around 1 to 4 and you can go to the big orange or blue box hardware stores and pay an excessive amount of money for MERV 14 and up. Generally, the mininum recommended is MERV 8. Contrary to popular perception, the primary purpose of a filter is to protect the heating and cooling equipment (you don't want blowers and coils getting clogged with particulates), not for human comfort. There is a trade-off in that the higher the MERV, the greater the possibility (emphasize the word "possibility"--it's not a given) that you will reduce the airflow through the furnace and thus reduce efficiency and increase power consumption. At MERV 8, you are filtering out pollen, dust mites, mold spores and other common allergens. You need to get up to MERV 12 and up to begin to capture smoke and bacteria. Considering that a house is not a hermetically sealed capsule it probably doesn't make much sense to think that a furnace filter is going to significantly alter air quality. Regardless which filter you choose, they should be changed every sixty to ninety days. So, I've found these AirShield MERV 11 filters to be good quality, sturdy, reliable and efficient. I would suggest that, all else being equal, price comparison is a useful consideration in differentiating among similar filters.

Fabulous for us. Up to 90 days use unless..................
If you are curious about how long this filter can remain in use, the answer to that is 90 days - with some exceptions. If you have pets in your home, if you have smokers in your home, or if you do a lot of fried food cooking your filters may need to be changed more frequently. I was curious about the length of time before the filter needed to be changed so I sent an email to the manufacturer and received a very fast, friendly, informative response. I did not say I was going to be writing a review of their product, just that I was considering buying their filter.I've always complained that this is the dustiest house I've ever lived in. Guess what.....I can't say that any longer. This AirShield 30001-202-0029 filter is nothing short of amazing when it comes to cutting down on the dust inside my house. I set up an experiment for testing this filter. I gave the entire house, upstairs as well as down because we have two heating/cooling units, a good dusting. Then later that day my husband put these two filters in our units which are in the attic. The 16"x25"x1" filter was easy to slide in and fit perfectly. One week later I approached my test "subject" (a coffee table in the den with a glass top insert) and ran my finger down the glass - absolutely no sign of dust. Each Tuesday for five weeks I've done that. On the third week I could see where I had made the mark, but only from one viewing angle. The fourth week I could see my finger mark from two angles. On the fifth week I thought I could have dusted or maybe waited another week. I decided to go ahead and dust. Those results are phenomenal to me. As soon as we took these filters out of their box we saw how different they are from the very inexpensive filters we have always used. The filter itself is much more firm and the pleated material is dense and closely aligned to the pleat next to it. There is an air flow indicator on the filter showing you which way to place it in your unit.I have so many different things I'm allergic to that I have to receive two allergy injections each week plus still take an antihistamine and a decongestant each day. House dust is one of my strongest allergens so this filter simply must be helping with that problem. The filter alone will not give me complete relief from all allergens but it surely does help with the dust and the length of time I can go between dusting.

Decent MERV 11 Filter
You can buy filters very cheaply. Of course, you'll wind up replacing them more frequently and you may not be sure of their durability and effectiveness. Removing a cheap paper filter that has come apart while in the furnace is not a fun activity. The AirShield 30001-202-0029 Micro-Allergen Filter carries a MERV 11 rating. MERV 11 rated filters remove the finer dust particles and are generally used to remove the airborne contaminants that could impact health. Some people prefer a higher MERV rating, such as MERV 13. However, the restricted airflow of the higher MERV rated filters can negatively affect certain HVAC systems. Therefore, I tend to stay at MERV 11 for our HVAC system. In terms of how well the AirShield 30001-202-0029 Micro-Allergen Furnace Filters works, there is really no way for the average homeowner (of which, I am one) to really tell. We are generally at the mercy of the manufacturer to be honest in what they say. The manufacturer claims that the filter, "Traps 87% of large allergens; pollen, dust mites, pet dander, bacteria, mold spores, burning wood, cooking smoke, tobacco smoke, smog, etc." We have to take them at their word as we don't know how the filter was certified. The filter looks well made and was no problem to insert into my furnance. If it cleans the air as claimed, it will be doing everything that can be expected from a filter.

Excellent filters, well worth the cost.
I want to say that I have always bought the very cheapest filters. The heat runs about half the year here. In the winter, it's really, really cold. And I still sometimes run it in the fall and spring (the early spring is also cold, and the late fall is also cold). However, for what these cost, I probably only need two filters per year, and they come in packs of two. One pack per year is not bad at all. And, what I'm getting is vastly superior. Even the feel of the things is high-quality compared. They slide in and out easily, and they fit correctly.I noticed right away that I no longer woke up sneezing and coughing with a sore throat every day. I am finicky. If I sleep with the windows open (which I love and do anyway), I'm sneezing from allergies (but I adapt quickly). If I sleep with the heat on (as I have to do, all winter), I often have a dry throat (I use a humidifier when I can).Anyway, dust, sore throat, and general feelings of unhappiness are all lessened with this filter. I do not like forced air blowing through my house, but it's a fact of life. Might as well do all I can to ameliorate issues.I'm super happy I got a chance to review these. I am convinced. I am also super pleased that they're made here in the USA in an eco-friendly manner rather than shipped from across the ocean.

CLEAN LIFE
I needed new air filters for my AC and decided to give this brand a try and wasn't disappointed. It traps 87% of large allergens, including pollen, dust mites, pet dander, bacteria, mold spores, burning wood, cooking smoke, tobacco smoke, smog etc. It's done a great job. I don't even remember the last time I've sneezed inside my house! It reduces upper respiratory contaminants that might irritate your allergies. It's built strong and doesn't have a flimsy cardboard frame like some other lower quality air filters. It's also made in the USA if that's your thing. The filters are made to be replaced every three months. I would definitely purchase this product again.

Works well, prefer them in white so I can eyeball for changing.
These Merv11 seem to do a good job collecting dust in my home without dragging the flow of air down. I tried a few carbon covered filters once and they made my furnace blower motor work so hard I had to remove them in fear of putting to much strain on it. I have pets and live in a older home so I want no particles floating in the air to cause allergies. They are a yellowish color, I do prefer when they are white because I can pull it out and eye ball the need to change on a white one. Work well though.
