Saved my Dyson. Dyson battery died and instead of buying a new vac, this was a great less expensive alternative. thank you.

I almost didn’t get this based on some other reviews so I thought I would write a review based on my install and first use.It was an easy thing to switch out the Dyson battery with this adapter. Disassemble the Dyson, take the 3 screws out that hold the original Dyson battery and replace it with the adapter, that’s it.Dyson8 wall charger can still be used to hold the vacuum, simply flip up the part of the wall charger the vacuum plugs into. You’ll won’t be needing that anymore. Also you’ll have to take out the Makita battery.I keep the Makita 3.0ah 18v battery and a Makita 18v battery charger in the closet with the vacuum.Always a full battery ready this way. It lasts vastly longer than the Dyson battery. Dyson should be thanking this company for this adapter, I was going to toss it out.

Our Dyson was running on old stock batteries, so only lasted 2 minutes. This has allowed me to use my drill batteries, so they are quick charging and last quite a while. Easy installation, durable parts. Been using this for over a year.

This adapter works great. Being able to use a 5.0aH battery, it lasts much longer than the built-in battery. I am able to vacuum my whole house on a single charge where before I would have to charge it 2 or 3 times to do the entire house.Pros: Long battery life; Quicker recharging;Cons: Slow shipping (9 days); Does not fit in original hanger/charger bracket;

Easy to install. I have 2 18V Makita batteries that I have used without issues for years. They didn't last more than a minute when used with my Dyson V8.

With the factory battery, the run time on high power is a few minutes. Longer on low power. And recharging takes 5 hours.I have a supply of Makita 5-Ah 18-volt batteries and this adapter looks like a great solution for when the factory battery gives out or if I simply grow tired of its short run time.My only concern is the voltage difference between the factory battery which has 6 cells and outputs 21.6 volts. (3.6 volts x 6 cells.)The Makita battery has 5 cells and outputs 18 volts. (3.6 volts per cell x 5 cells.)Does running the V8 continuously on the lower voltage impact the performance and lifetime of the two motors? There are two motors, remember: the vac itself and the brush head.Nonetheless, as it will be some time before the new factory battery dies, I thought it wise to purchase this adapter now as they may become unavailable months or years from now.Also, I would be using the factory Makita charger instead of the Dyson charger, so the Makita batteries should be maintained properly. Makita batteries last me ten years or more.

Absolutely love this! I have an older Dyson that stopped charging and bought this! Have been using it for a few months now with no issues (adapts to out makita batteries)

Nach der Montage des Adapters läßt sich leider der Schmutzbehälter nicht mehr entriegeln und vom Gerät abnehmen. Schade, ist somit keine Reinigung dieses Behälters mehr möglich.

It works for like 2 seconds and then it cuts off? Did I get a dud?

I cannot tell you how much we love this! We were noticing that the battery life of our Dyson V8 was getting less and less with each charge and we feel this product has extended the life of our Dyson by years and years! We are Makita users so we always have a charged battery around!

It works but the batteries get drained very quickly.
