BirkenstockUnisex Gizeh BS Birko-Flor Sandals

I was a little concerned when first purchasing how a non leather sandal would hold up to heavy wear. Have featured pictures of the old versus the new. The old pair bought in 2015 are still going strong, and they have been very well used as I live in a warm climate! This will be their fourth summer and all my other sandals have been sidelined as these are so comfy. Now the cork footbed has really cracked and they look very scruffy, but are still worn around the farm. They are not brilliant on loose surfaces as the lip on the footbed tends to catch small stones...but then they don't claim to be all terrain, and are actually surprisingly grippy over rocks etc!I bought a 39 when I am a 39/40 and they are perfect. If you are between sizes I suggest opting for the size down as they come up a bit large. I am not sure why they are labelled a 5.5 UK as they are more like a 6.5 in my opinion.I wanted to buy myself another pair that I can wear socks in and therefore extend the birkenstock season so ordered a Kumba, but these only come in a narrow footbed. This wasn't stated so I was very disappointed. I have wide feet so they were way too narrow. The little foot symbol on the footbed indicates the width. If is totally filled in they are a narrow fit so beware. Many of the backstrap models without a toepost seem to only come in a narrow fit. No idea why. I hope Birkenstock will amend this.I decided to reorder exactly the same as last time to have no confusion. After two weeks of use I am a little concerned that the footbed is coming up a half a cm narrower than last time. With my last pair the only discomfort in breaking them in was the softening of the toepost. My foot feels much closer to the edge of these. I am hoping this is just my memory failing me and because I am comparing them to ones that fit like an old glove...plus my feet are not getting any younger!!Postage to Portugal was incredibly fast. Couldn't fault Amazon for speed of service. I ordered in the early hours of Wednesday morning and they arrived Thursday afternoon!! They didn't come in a Birkenstock box, but that wasn't a bother for me. Hope they will give as good a service as the last pair has!

Having been someone who could not wear between the toe sandals/flip flops my entire life for the pain of them, these are an absolute game changer. I’ve heard them spoken about for years and just took the plunge. They’re hard and honestly pretty uncomfortable the first few times they’re worn, like walking with bricks on your feet BUT do as they say and wear them in. I’ve now had them a couple of months and they’re incredibly comfy, so light on my feet and I wear them daily! Will now only be buying Birkenstocks for this type of shoe. Well worth the price! It took roughly 2 weeks for them to break in.

My sandal of choice, good value

First of all, I have wanted a pair of these for years and could never justify the price tag from the original source. I was sceptical when I found these on amazon as they are very well reduced from the normal price and wondered if they were fake. I scoured the reviews and couldn't really find any evidence to suggest they are, so hey bonus! The second worry I had was the size. I am a 6.5 but normally have to size up to a 7 as hardly anywhere does half sizes, again after reading all the reviews I took the advice and ordered a 5.5, cursing myself as I did it, expecting them to arrive and have to be sent back straight away. Fast forward to today when they arrive, they are in proper birkenstock packaging, they look and feel very sturdy, the name on the side is nice and clear everything suggests that they are the real McCoy. Next test is trying them on.. and they fit!! Now they say they are a 39 so I guess you could say that they are a 6 rather than a 5.5 but either way, I certainly wouldn't be able to cram feet in to a 6. They feel secure and comfortable enough and as I've read they will get more comfortable over time. So it's a long winded 5 star review, am absolutely made up with my purchase.. well done Amazon

Well made, good quality comfortable. I'm generally a size 3 and had to get a size 35. They fit perfectly. So happy with them.

Birkenstock sandals take a bit of getting used to but once you do they’re great for support and look really nice on they are quite wide and I have wide feet so if you are narrow I believe they do a slimmer fit

Following other reviews I ordered a size smaller than I normally wear and they fit perfectly. I know they take a bit of wearing in but so far I've no issues with them and for £20 I am delighted with them

Originally I bought the leather gizehs as I thought they would look nicer and be more comfortable. I also bought a size 39 even though I am usually between a 39 and a 40, as the sizes are large. When they arrived they looked great and fitted nice and snugly, the leather straps were ok, but not amazingly comfortable. I wore them in side for a while and realised my toes were too near the edges and after a bit of walking I could tell this would become a problem. I returned them which was very easy and decided to go for a 40 in the birko-flor. They are called nubuck mocca which is a bit confusing as they are synthetic. These are amazing and the larger fit is so much more comfortable. Also the synthetic straps still look great but they are lined with a fleecy material which makes them so much more comfortable than the leather. They are wipe clean, so should be much lower maintenance than the leather, and were £15 cheaper!Getting the right size is so important, my tips would be get your size, don't go down in size. I think they make your feet look smaller with the bigger size too! Also you are better trying them on first but as these are so easy to return you could always buy a couple of pairs and send unwanted ones back.At this price I think I will be buying them for presents, they are so comfortable!
