Sugru - Is it good?
My headline question .. 'Is it good?'Answer.... 'Yes'... with footnotes, for what they are worth.footnotes.Sugru is pretty strange stuff. A sort of slow motion plasticene-like Araldite, in a range of colours (great)... and you CAN take a small ball of red and and a small ball of white... if you want to... to produce a 'pink' to your liking. In short, you can mix the basic Sugru colours . The black & white's help for tonal work. This stuff is really, really neat. When it hardens it's impressive. I stuck a leftover ball of Sugru squashed onto my garden fence two years ago. It is still there, stuck hard and fast and solid and it would take a Mole-wrench to remove it. Ok.. I'm exaggerating about the Mole-wrench, but I certainly can't move that Sugru ball with my fingers. Hard, well-stuck, and bright orange... after 2 years. Pretty impressive in my books.Downsides:1. Well...'out-of-the-packet' it is very tacky stuff... sticks to your fingers. Not a killer problem, but be aware. Have some tissues handy.2. The Sugru sachets are small, and once opened the contents are useable for at best 30 minutes. This is especially important if you are mixing colours as getting the right colour mix takes time, and you only have 30 minutes to get it right. That's harder than it sounds. To be fair I'm talking here about my own discoveries using Sugru c/o colour mixing.3. Sugru sachets are date-timed. Do pay attention to the use-by-date on the Sugru sachets. I'm being very careful in what I say here. Just be cautious c/o expiry dates. If they are not stated, ask, or pass.Tips: Pop your unopened Sugru sachets in fridge (not deep-freeze) . That will extend the date-time a lot. Conclusions: Sugru is novel & quite brilliant... but like any adhesive / glue / mouldable something or other ... you need to know what you are dealing with. My recommendation? Go and buy some. Experiment with it, and if if it suits your purpose(s) ... buy some more.

A simple yet elegant solution to fixing plastics.
I bought the pack with 3 colours, black grey and white compounds. My initial reason for purchase was to fix an old pair of Sony Egg headphones, the plastic around the adjustable mounts had become brittle and had broken. I wanted to fix the problem and the Sugru mouldable glue looked perfect. It was so easy to use straight from the pack, I didn’t need more than a grape-sized ball for the job, so I fashioned a small hook shape to mount on a floor length mirror near my front door, I hang my keys on it! The repair to the Sony headphones worked really well. I used the remaining piece of glue/putty for another small project 4 months later without any issues of it drying up.

Very small amounts in each individual pack.
Very sticky in use. Be careful of what you touch when in use or it will transfer from your fingers to whatever you touch. You get more fettling time than suggested and takes a whole day to cure properly. Easy to mold and trim after although trimming may dull the finish. Colours were more pastel in nature than I thought they would be. I wish there were fewer colours and more of each one. I would like to see single colour packs on offer. Works well. Can be pushed into the smallest of crevices. Easily contaminated when using so clean hands or disposable gloves are a must to keep colours pure. Seems very tough and durable but also flexible. If used as a glue make sure both parts of what you glue have some form of staying together while it sets. Once set it is surprisingly grippy. Also once a packet is opened it will start to cure so is one time useable. Very useful. My only gripe is the relatively small amounts in the sachets.

Very durable and extremely practical!
I have now used multiple different varieties of the sugru and it works amazingly. It sticks to almost anything and comes in handy for anything it's extremely durable and can withstand all the temperatures it says it can and in fact goes beyond what it says sometimes. I have used it on many an occasion to fix instead of dispose of things. I find it works very well if you want to customise a pen and you can mold it to fit your fingers and make it more comfortable. So a highly recommended by and would certainly by more!

Waheeey!
I bought a white resin and marble dust statue (of liberty) at a knock down price, because it was slightly damaged. But since it was white, it occurred to me that white sugru would be good to repair it. It now looks absolutely perfect. I have found many uses for sugru, which dries to be flexible and adheres to almost anything. The only downside is that if you only require a small amount (as I did), having opened each packet, the rest will be wasted. However, there are many uses for this excellent product, from fixing shoes to statues.

What can't it do.
Sugru is a great product. It has many uses to fix hard to fix items.I used this to fix my copper hot water tank which was leaking around the inlet after it was pressurised as part of a system upgrade.I released the pressure and emptied the tank.I smeared the sugru around the leak pushing hard. I then waited for it to harden a little and gently squashed towards the edges so feathering it. I waited 24 hours for it to fully harden, refilled the tank and repressurised the system. The sugru weaped a little bit so I released the pressure and smeared some more sugru over the top. I waited 24 hours and repressurised the tank again. Amazingly the leak was fixed.3 years later and as till no leak. Amazing.

Very handy product - takes time to cure
I think this is a great product but be advised it takes 24hours to cure. Also you need to wear gloves to mould this as it leaves a residue on your fingers and I had to use alcohol to remove the build up and colour stain it left. This is the family safe version and I am really happy with it, it has a very low odour and doesn’t smell toxic.I used this for a pair of broken glasses, the frame cracked and the arm broke off, it repaired both amazingly, but I had to leave them to cure for 24 hours. I spent time using small amounts building it up over the plastic frame and smoothed it out matching both sides, very happy.

Excellent Stuff!
So many things I like about Sugru:• takes no time at all to be ready for molding (no required kneading before it's soft enough to use)• molds beautifully without sticking to you more than the object(s) you're using it on• doesn't get dye everywhere while molding• dries semi-soft but without give, similar to a good grip handle on hand tools• amazingly repairs things I never thought could be repaired - like plastic drawers that crack down the side and center cracks to snap-on covers on plastic storage buckets• holds up way better than anything out there like it!• two or more colors can make new creative colors or stand out in swirl patterns and the like if you want something unusual• can still be cut/scraped off if needed, leaving nothing behind (a soapy cleanser helps with final residue)My ONLY complaint: I wish the packets came in larger sizes for the larger projects. Those little packets are each only enough for something like charge cord repair or a small hook. I'm often needing to use several packets together so it gets expensive very fast!

Works as intended
I bought this mainly to repair my charging cable for my phone and it works exactly as in the picture shown! It comes with 8 little packets that kind of look like a stick of gum, only downside is once you open it you have to use all of it as it dries to become like silicone and unusable/unmoldable at that point. I also used it to repair a broken over the door mirror in which I lost the screw where the mirror hangs off of. The moldable glue did a decent job in sticking the over the door hook onto the mirror which is quite heavy -still hanging on there even after a week. When working with the moldable glue I was expecting it to have the texture of sticky tack but it was definitely a little more stickier and harder to work with than sticky tack. It's very soft and sticky, it will get under your nails and leave some residue on the surface you're working with but will come off with a wipe, it will dry just fine too. A bit on the pricey side but for good value. Would recommend if you have lot of wires to fix. Havent used it for any other purpose yet.

Fantastic and great service. Shipping was faster than expected.
The world’s first mouldable glue that sets strong by turning into a durable silicone rubber. Based on advanced silicone technology, it is perfect for fixing, DIY and even making and creating. Use it to fix, bond, seal, mount and create.
How does Sugru Mouldable Glue work?
Stick it, shape it, and it sets strong by turning into silicone rubber. It’s that easy – you have 30 minutes to perfect and adjust your fix. It will cure in 24 hours at room temperature, simply from exposure to air. Its unique silicone technology ensures that it forms a strong bond to many surfaces and in most environments. Ensure surfaces are clean and dry, and Sugru Mouldable Glue will withstand even extreme conditions like the dishwasher or a steamy shower, and it can handle temperatures up to 180°C (356°F) and down to -50°C (-58°F).
STICK IT
Sugru sticks permanently to lots of materials like glass, ceramic, wood, metal and most plastics.
MOULD IT
You have 30 minutes to fix, build and create.
SETS STRONG
In 24 hours, it turns into a strong and durable silicone rubber that stays stuck.
People sometimes say nice things about us
Our customers give us great reviews, and that’s what we’re most proud of. And, of course, we love it when TIME Magazine, The New York Times and other great press help spread the word as well.
About the Startup
Describe your product in 3 words.
I can do it in two! Mouldable glue.
How did you come up with the idea for this product?
The first idea for Sugru came about whilst I was studying design at the Royal College of Art in London. It didn’t take me long to realise I had little interest in making a new chair or new lamp, when there’s already too much of that kind of stuff in the world anyway. I wanted to make something that allowed other people to be designers, something that would enable others to fix and redesign things to work better for them. The thought of people being able to repair things more easily rather than it going straight to landfill was, and still is, hugely exciting.
What makes your product special?
Sugru’s versatility. It feels like play-dough straight out of the pack, so you can mould it into any shape. Then, it bonds to almost any other material, and just by exposing it to air, it turns into a strong and durable silicone rubber. Sugru can be used for literally thousands of different jobs: fixing stuff that’s broken, improving and personalising things to work better than before, and even making something entirely new. Sugru’s new Family-safe | Skin-friendly formula also means that children as young as eight years old can use it to fix and redesign their things without adult supervision. There aren’t many high-performance adhesives that are safe for all the family!
What has been the best part of your startup experience?
Without doubt, building (and learning from) a community of makers and fixers around the world. When we launched, back in 2009, a community of Sugru users sprung up seemingly overnight. Soon after our initial batch of 1000 packs sold out in 6 hours, people started sending us pictures and tweets of what they were doing with their Sugru – from mending shoes and fixing cables to hacking wheelchairs and redesigning tech. Those pictures and stories haven’t stopped and today we have over 2 million users across 170 countries and territories. I am still learning what Sugru can be used for every single day and, thanks to people’s innate creativity and problem-solving genius, this is unlikely to ever stop!
