Kasa Apple HomeKit Outdoor Smart Plug, EP40A, 2 Sockets, No Hub Required

I purchased this smart plug to control an outdoor heater for outside cat, and it has been absolutely amazing. No matter where I am, I can turn the heater on or off using my phone. On colder days, I turn it on. When the weather warms up, I turn it off. The best part is that I can do this even when I'm traveling overseas. It has given me tremendous peace of mind, and the setup was much easier than I expected. Looking back, I can't believe how much time and effort I spent worrying about temperature control before finding this product. If you need reliable remote control for outdoor equipment, I highly recommend it.

So I have had a few smart switches in the past and once my internet was upgraded, they no longer worked. I decided to try this one with Apple HomeKit. The good news is that the outlet did connect to my wifi network and works with HomeKit, but ONLY if I am on my wifi network, not on cellular (so can't control the switch from work, for example). I discovered that an Apple HomeKit hub's necessary for that feature. Disappointed. Not to be deterred, I downloaded the Kasa App and set up was straight forward. So I am able to connect via the Kasa App while on the cellular network. For now this will, do although it is becoming obvious to me that a home/smart hub is probably a better choice in the future to control more products from one central app. I'm satisfied with this and will report back any connectivity or other issues that might arise.

Perfect dual outdoor smart plug from Kasa that perfectly integrates with several smart devices including Alexa and Tapo. Love the buttons on the plug itself and the covers for the plugs which provide great weather resistance. We use them to plug in a fountain water pump in the summer on a timer and also in the winter to control outdoor Christmas lights- also on a smart timer. Highly recommend.

A must have for outdoor led lights! Kasa App is great and the product works flawlessly! It’s a great value for the money. Pretty easy to get it setup.

The best HomeKit (HK) compatible outdoor plug IMO. Why? You can control both sockets independent of one another in HK/Kasa! I have not come across another HK compatible plug that does this. Quality seems generally adequate and on par with most plugs on the market. Deducting a star for some initial pairing issues with HK--had to power reset one while the other paired immediately. No worries--worked after the 3rd try. Additionally, the socket covers are REALLY soft and flimsy. Not a deal breaker if these are in a covered enviorment but I wouldn't expect them to last long especially if exposed to direct sun for long periods. Overall, there are few HK choices so I consider this the best! Highly recommended--once up and going these work perfectly to power our holiday lights.

Once you're happy about a particular brand product that, eg turns lights on and off remotely with a scheduled on/off option, stick with it! I was fortunate to make my way to Kasa plug products after being disappointed with 2 other brands, and I've since expanded the Kasa "network" throughout my house. Having it be combined with TP-Link Tapo was even better! Super easy to connect to home wifi, decent range both inside and outside, nice double outdoor weatherproof plugs (I think I now have 5 - I grab them whenever they go on sale!). As an iPhone user, it's also convenient to turn lights on and off by swiping right from the lock screen and opening the Tapo widget (which I often do especially when Alexa doesn't turn my nightstand light off). I have a dozen indoor plugs maybe? and a couple powerstrips. I even swapped out a dimmer switch because my wife a) can never figure out how to dim her overhead home office lights, and b) always forgets to turn them off. (full disclosure: I had my electrician install it because I'm not crazy about dying over something stupid)

DO NOT BUY! I read many reviews about how good Kasa products were and that this “worked” with Apple HomeKit. I use Apple HomeKit and have around 35 accessories connected to it from many different manufactures. Most were easy to set up and some just appeared in HomeKit. When I received the Kasa Outdoor wifi plug (EP40A), I was disappointed to see that it was tp-link product. I had previously purchased a tp-link wifi range extender which was difficult to set up. I thought just my experience with the wifi extender was one time issue. WRONG! I down loaded the Kasa app and installed the outdoor plug and then tried connect each outlet to Apple HomeKit. In the Kasa app I selected the outlet I wanted to connect to HomeKit and then selected Home icon which brought up a window to read the QR code on the box or in the instructions. Did not work with either my iPhone or iPad. I reset the plug as per instructions many times and that the same result. I also tried using the Apple Home app to add the plug to HomeKit with both my iPhone and iPad with the same negative results. I called “Customer Service” ???? , I got someone who could hardly speak English and was of no help. He could find information on the plug after I gave him the model number. I asked him for the eight digit HomeKit code that the QR code generates. DO NOT BUY! Kasa misrepresents its products! I will never buy from then again. JUNK! ‘

Quit easy setup, use them for my Xmas lights, my wife like being able to control them from her phone, will work on anything that needs to be remotely controlled on and off.

Excelente enchufe, se siente grueso y resistente no ha fallado para nada aun y cuando el internet llega con poca señal a la terraza. No batalle NADA en enlazarlo con mi alexa.

El dispositivo funciona perfectamente. Configurarlo fue fácil y no hay nada como tener el control de los enchufes incluso estando fuera de casa. Ubiqué el dispositivo en el exterior para el encendido de dos guirnaldas de bombillas en mi jardín. Al momento ya ha soportado varios aguaceros y confío que durará el tiempo establecido en la garantía e incluso más, dada la calidad de los materiales, así como las características de mi instalación, que es propia para exteriores.

Funciona bien, facil de controlar remotamente. Perfecto para mi jacuzzi

Anteriormente he adquirido mucho componentes de la marca Kasa Smart de Tp-Link y son tope de calidad. No he tenido problemas, son fáciles de configurar y muy fiables. Éste producto es ideal para exteriores, lo utilizo para automatizar un riego de lujo.

Lo ocupo para una bomba hidráulica en la azotea, para prenderla en ocasiones específicas y ha funcionado de maravilla, son 2 saludas, es muy fácil de configurar y la manejo tanto por la app como con alexa
