Can you use the xlr and trs output simultaneously as a passive aplit or is either/or?

The job of this box is to take a stereo line out (like a Zoom mic or PC— not headphones) and make two balanced lines using 1/4” TRS (one for stereo left and the other for stereo right) so you can go to a mixer or audio console. If you require a XLR input for each left and right, then you need a 1/4” TRS to XLR male to plug into the outputs of this box. This box is passive; it does NOT need phantom power and you would use it at mic level. I hope this helps.

I have connected one smaller mixer to a larger one, via 1/4" balanced cables. Would this help to eliminate static between the two? Thanks.

That not what it is intended to do. It is designed to connect a computer to your PA system and utilize XLR connection. it works great!!! Don’t know whether it will reduce buzz in that set up.

I have a stereo feed from an analog snake to a canon g50 camera. the audio input has a slight low-level hum. will this cure it?

No, this unit is to basically connect a playback device that is a mini/3.5 mm jack connection into a microphone input of a mixer. Your hum might be coming from a bad cable along the way.
