Sterling TML125N 63mm Nickel Tubular Mortice Latch, (2.5")

I got trapped in our bathroom with the existing 22 year old tumbler latch having failed . My daughter rescued me by forcing the door. I was not familiar with how the handle and tumbler latch worked but with enough investigation decided to get this latch. It works ! And only £3 can you believe!

Bought these to replace some very old ones in the house. Fitted into the old slot perfectly and work fine. Only dropped a star because the piece the bar fits into is plastic, don't know how long it will last, maybe years.

Easy to fit

I have written hundreds of reviews in regards to items sold through Amazon. This tubular latch is sold off £2.99 as a prime item through Amazon (January 2018) Prime items come with a promise of next day delivery to Amazon prime members You cannot rely on the next day delivery promise. There is no indication as to any potential additional postage charges for non prime members. The latch is a good budget example and will do all that is required to be done. I bought this as a replacement for a “dead” latch. Replacement was very quick and easy. Simply remove two screws push the latch in, correct way around for the door closure. There is no doubt that it is a budget, unbranded item. There are no markings and the metal assembly is rough and ready. All that said, this is very good for the cost and will do all required of it.

three were fine one was faulty and the catch would not come out of the housing, had to insert some cardboard into the housing to stop it getting stuck. I had fitted 3 so was not going to remove them and send all 4 back, they were only cheap anyway

This is a simple mortice latch. The last one on the door in question broke after 3 yrs. The first I have ever had break actually. It broke because the component the square rod goes through was a sort of die cast material and it simply broke apart rendering the door inoperable with a significant risk of getting locked in, or out! This replacement is perhaps not the highest quaity but not shabby either. For the price it is fair bearing in mind rapid delivery. I was pleased that the component that broke last time is made of a sort of hard plastic/nylon on this new one. I say I am pleased because I suspect this will not break as easily as die cast one did. When buying these, especially as a replacement you really need to carefully check dimensions, especially if like me replacing one. The plates vary and the overall length between the plate and the square hole vary - as does of course the total length. I did double check the dimensions and was pleased it replaced the old one without any need for adjustment. It is not the kind of thing you think twice about normally until it breaks and I tend to the view that whilst not top quailty this will probably last a long long time. If it does break I will update this review.
