Fixed a non-latching door
Purchased to replace the latch on my bathroom door that had developed excessive lateral play to the extent that it would no longer correctly extend into the strike plate. I could have moved the plate out a couple of mm but at this point I felt that the cheapo unbranded latch was on the way out, and spending around 3 quid for a new one didn't seem to be a big outlay. The new Yale latch is definitely sturdier. The latchbolt appears to be brass and the cast part that accepts the handle spindle seems to be cast zinc. There are a few 1-star that say this part "disintegrated" within months, and after some poking and scraping I think this is unlikely to happen with the part I received. The faceplate of the latch unit is embossed with the Yale logo. I didn't use any of the included strike plates, which were nicely finished but disappointingly don't have a lip for adjustment. I also simply reused my existing fasteners, although some 2.5cm-ish pozi screws are conveniently included in the packaging. This latch body is larger than the generic latches I previously had installed. Fortunately some elbow gease / judicious application of hammering got it into the door, and I only had to chisel out another mm or so for the faceplate to fit. The photo on the Amazon product page for these latches is incorrect, which is really sub-par and caused some confusion when I saw what was actually delivered. The image that is shown is actually the Union Locks 64mm Tubular Mortice Latch 2648. If I had my time again I would probably purchase that for the nylon latchbolt and adjustable strike plate. That said, this is a fine device, works well enough and being from a reputable manufacturer I assume it will last a good few years.

Good quality and reasonable price
Replaced my old inside door latch in 5 minutes and fixed a niggling problem that had been there for years. The metal body and spring mechanism in this latch is better grade than that of the flimsy and semi-broken one it replaced. Very happy with my purchase, and will fix other latches around the house with the two others in this pack when needed.

Tubular Mortice Latche
I recently installed the Yale Locks 3PM888CH2 Tubular Mortice Latches in my home and have been generally impressed with their quality and functionality. Here are my thoughts after using them for a few weeks: #### Pros: 1. **Quality Build**: As expected from a reputable brand like Yale, the latches are well-constructed with a sturdy and reliable mechanism. The chrome finish adds a sleek and modern touch to my doors, blending seamlessly with other fixtures. 2. **Smooth Operation**: The latches operate smoothly, with no sticking or resistance when opening and closing the doors. This provides a reassuring sense of reliability and ease of use. 3. **Ease of Installation**: The installation process was straightforward, even for someone like me who isn’t particularly handy. The pack includes all necessary components, and the instructions were clear and easy to follow. 4. **Value for Money**: Considering that this is a pack of three, the price point is very reasonable. It’s a cost-effective solution for multiple doors in the house, without compromising on quality. #### Cons: 1. **Limited Size Options**: The latches are only available in the 64mm size, which might not be suitable for all doors. It would be great if Yale offered more size variations to cater to different needs. 2. **Minor Aesthetic Issues**: While the chrome finish is generally attractive, I noticed a few minor imperfections on one of the latches. It’s not overly noticeable but slightly disappointing given the brand’s reputation. 3. **Noise Level**: There is a slight clicking noise when the latch engages, which might be an issue for those seeking ultra-quiet operation. It’s not overly loud but something to be aware of. #### Overall Impression: The Yale Locks 3PM888CH2 Tubular Mortice Latches are a solid choice for anyone looking to upgrade their door latches with a reliable and stylish option. Despite a few minor drawbacks, the quality and performance of these latches stand out. The ease of installation and smooth operation make them a practical addition to any home. I would definitely recommend them to anyone in need of durable and aesthetically pleasing door hardware. This is my second set of these mortise latche bought on the 26/082024

When they work, they are great but ......
So, had these a while now [February 2020] and at first they seemed fine. Used on previously installed doors which needed a little fettling to get these to fit and to start everything was fine. That was until one failed! There's a small cam inside made of what I can only surmise as being the cheapest metal one can find and after a little use it breaks. When this happens the handle will no longer rotate the spring latch and you'll not be able to open the door! Marvellous, not. If it had been a one off I'd understand but then for a second one to fail on a different door that's used even less! Not good. Now replaced with another brand and so far [touch wood] everything is fine, but these Yale branded ones ... NO. You'd expect better from a big brand name such as this, but not to be. Can I recommend them, No unless I don't like you and want you to get stuck in a small room somewhere. LOL

Done the job well
Replaced 2 door latches, as after some time they had started to disintegrate inside, and have one spare. These were great. They fitted relatively easily - had to make minor adjustments to where the plate fits. Screwed into place - inserted the spindles and put handles back on. Probably didn’t need to take the whole handle off, but was even easier to fit well.

Perfect
I urgently needed a new latch just like this one - but did not initially think to check if Amazon sold them. Fortunately having drawn a blank elsewhere I decided to search on here - and was fortunate enough to find this excellent product. The parts are very well made (as you would expect from a quality brand such as "Yale") - and I was up and running in no time (even with my rather "limited" DIY skills!). I suppose the only "problem" I had was that I could only find this product available in a three-pack (when I only really needed one..) - but taking into account the price and quality, I am still delighted - and it would be a crime to mark this one down as anything less than FIVE Stars. Highly recommended. Thanks for reading, -John Mounsey.

Good Quality Yale
I'm replacing all of my door latches, handles and hinges at the minute so firstly I went to B&Q and bought some new latches. These were cheap and plastic so I opted for these Yale ones instead. As with all Yale products, the quality is impeccable. Very solid build and honestly feels like it will last a life time. My only issues with these is that the hole that the latch fits into is not quite big enough. If I were putting these on fresh doors/architrave, I could not doubt line it up to work perfectly, but as a replacement it just isn't big enough. I now have the choice of filing the hole bigger (not great as it ruins the nice clean finish) or moving the plate so that the hole is in the right place (usually means when the door is closed, it looks slightly ajar). For this reason I have given this product 4 out of 5 stars. I should also point out that the 3 pack of this product works out very good value for money and ended up being cheaper than getting the own brand products from B&Q.
