The Art of Home: A Designer Guide to Creating an Elevated Yet Approachable Home

Was bought as a gift for someone who loves Shea McGee’s style and interior design commentary. They absolutely LOVE this book! The images are amazing, very crisp and high quality pages. The book is large and you can see all the detail in each project that is shown. Shea goes into detail about her processes, so you can see how she does it but also makes references to how it links with her life and it makes it quite authentic. It can be used as a book just to admire the interiors and exteriors of the projects, but also as a guide for designing your own home! It’s worth the price when you see just how much imagery and information the book contains. The book can also act as decor when not in use. The first book had a bit of damage near the spine and we were able to easily request a new one and it was delivered very quickly. Good experience with the seller and the book itself is amazing!

A fabulous book for your coffee table, lots of information and tips for you to use in your own home.

Great book for show

This is a really great book, much bigger and chunkier than I expected and looks great styled on a sideboard in my room. The loss of 1 star is because it doesn’t come in any packaging or anything and is a pure white book! Mine had lots of black marks just like dusty from storage. I removed them using a magic sponge but that did leave marks of its own. I wasn’t too bothered because I knew it was going on this sideboard with other books and wouldn’t be noticeable but I guess I felt like I’d got a ‘used’ book for a ‘new’ price so this is probably something that could be looked at for a perfect product and service.

Great book

I purchased the original edition of this book upon its release and found it to be an excellent publication, so much so that I incorporated it into my home decor. Unfortunately, the original copy was recently damaged by my children, so I decided to re-order it. However, I was disappointed to find that the new version is noticeably slimmer, the content appears to have changed, and the print quality is significantly lower than the original edition. This feels like a different product altogether and not what I expected when re-ordering. It would be helpful if the listing made it clear that this is a revised or altered edition as it still lists the dimensions as the original. Now looking to source it from a different seller and will return this version.

This book is filled with so many details and “instruction” that you feel as though you are involved in a design course. Ms McGee has a very classic style and that’s what you’ll be getting from this book. If that’s not your current style maybe this book isn’t for you. But I encourage you to give it a try anyway, your mind will be broadened with this classic, elegant and yes, casual style. The photographs are beautiful and represent exactly what she’s explaining at the time. I enjoyed reading this book and I’m sure I’ll be referring back to it time and time again.

A great book if you are into interior designing or if you are looking for an inspiration for your home. And the book serves also an aesthetic coffee table book. So a win-win
