Same same
I've read a couple of her books and they follow a prescriptive fashion. Lots of words but no real depth and a tale that could be told in a couple of chapters

Always in safe hands with K.L Slater
K.L. Slater always writes a gripping psychological and domestic thrillers - 'The Narrator' is no exception to this! 10 months ago, acclaimed crime author Philippa Roberts went missing without a trace. Fast forward to an unpublished book being uncovered in the missing author's loft, causing a scrabble to cash in on this unexpected discovery. Eve is called in to narrate the audiobook of the new work, but from the beginning, something seems off with the characters and the style of writing. This prompts Eve to start investigating and asking questions, putting herself in the firing line from a mysterious foe...This book is stacked with suspicious and morally grey characters, each one of them with a potential hand in Philippa's disappearance. My theories changed chapter by chapter and had no hope of being correct come the mind melding revelations at the novel's close. It arguably started as a slow burn but this gave us time to get to know the raft of characters and their shady motivations. I enjoyed the different points of view in the novel, particularly the flashbacks and glimpses into some of the truths of Philippa's disappearance. The tension and slow burn is more than worth it as the truths unravels.Overall, this is a gripping read and I loved the twisty narrative. This is my fourth K.L Slater book and will not be my last - a guaranteed hit every time! 4 stars.

Great
You have a job you love, a man you love and a gorgeous daughter. You are on top of the world, but then life happens. Everything collapses like a house of cards and you are forced to move backwards in stead of forwards. The world seems like a black space, but you have your daughter to take care of and little by little you fight your way back.A phone call give you new perspectives and although you have to go to London, you know your daughter is in good hands. But someone thinks they know better and decides they know better than you do.You thought you knew the people around you, but in the end it seems like they had a lot to hide. Even though they thought they could get away with it, justice wins again.Oh my. I guess there are characters you love and some you hate in every book. Sometimes those you love are the good ones, sometimes though they seem to be masters in deceit.Authors manage to lead the readers where they want them to go and sometimes you really are flabbergasted when you know every single detail. I just love it.Maybe this story was a bit slow paced, but it did give me a lot of reading pleasure. 4 stars

Slow
Having read most of the authors previous novels I was looking forward to reading her latest offering ‘The Narrator’Eve is a single mum and a narrator for the International best selling author Philippa Roberts. But Philippa has been missing for 10 months now, so work as dried up for Eve. So, she moves back home into her mother’s house with her daughter Scarlett. Police has been looking for Philippa but with no success and thinks that she might have gone off somewhere to start a new life. Philippa has had mental health problems. But leaves a wife and stepson. One day, she gets a call from the publishing company that a new manuscript has been found and they are asking Eve to narrate the audio version. But it means that she must move to London and leave her daughter with her mother. But her ex-husband Hugo has other ideas.Thank you, Bookoutre for a copy of K.L. Slaters latest offering. I really enjoy the authors book, but this latest one I found really slow. The premise is interesting and there is a lot of characters and a lot of red herrings. But for me personally it didn’t pack a punch that I usually get from this author, so I struggled a bit with it. But I did glad I finished it. 3.5 stars from me.

Slater delivers another engaging psychological thriller
‘The Narrator’ is a standalone psychological thriller by K.L. Slater that proved almost impossible to put down. The narrator of the title is Eve whose career as a voice actor hit a bump eighteen months ago. First her father took his own life, then six months later Eve discovered that her husband, Hugo, was having an affair. Two months on and top selling crime writer Philippa Roberts, whose nine DI Jane Tower police procedurals Eve had narrated, disappeared on the night of the Smoking Gun Crime and Thriller Awards. All this mounted up and Eve had a breakdown. She left her job and returned home to Nottingham, moving in with her mother. She is now struggling to raise her five-year old daughter, Scarlet. When news breaks that the manuscript for a tenth DI Tower novel has been found, Philippa’s publishers invite Eve to narrate its audiobook edition to preserve continuity. She agrees though finds that Hugo, now living with his pregnant girlfriend, is quick to take the opportunity to undermine Eve’s relationship with Scarlet. I did not like Hugo at all!Aside from Eve’s chapters we also get some from the perspective of Chad, Philippa’s creepy super-fan, and glimpses of a third perspective that I won’t elaborate on to avoid entering spoiler territory. As said above, this was a page turner and Slater also manages to get in a few swipes at the publishing industry as well as those readers who are always clamouring for the next book in a series and are quick to point out any plot holes or other inconsistencies. Still, these seemed quite good natured rather than snarky. I mean we’ve all been there.Overall, I found ‘The Narrator’ an entertaining psychological thriller with plenty of twists and red herrings.
