Great iconic ship - really hard decision - so many kits to choose from!
Just bought this for our son's 8th birthday. It's really exciting - can't wait for him to open it. He has wanted one for a long time but the kit was retired and as a result available kits were hugely expensive - out of our league. Now this new model is out I can stretch to that as a one off and because it may be his only chance to get one. But the decision was so hard! Because there are so many good lego kits he wants and for the price of this we could have got at least two other good kits he really likes. In the end I copied and pasted photos of this and the two other kits he liked and asked which would be his first choice. It was the Millennium Falcon. As we can't afford the Tie Fighter, Troop carrier and the other kits, what I have done is separately buy Kylo Ren from one kit and two flame troopers from another kit, plus some mini tie fighters. His grandparents are getting him the Naboo fighter (which he chose over the large tie fighter, with great difficulty). And that's it! No more lego till Christmas. Oh yes and he wants Kylo Ren't lightsaber too - he'll have to save up for that. These kits are so expensive - and one is never enough, but buying a few minifigures separately helps expand a kit and/or play scenario.

Great addition to anyone's Lego collection
What can I say - its everyone's favourite Corellian YT-1300 freighter reproduced in the small plastic bane of every parents' life! The Falcon is a great addition to anyone's Lego collection, and a must buy for any StarWars fan. The set includes the Falcon itself and several minifigures; Rey, Finn, Old Han Solo, Old Chewbacca, Tasu Leech and a Kanjiklub Gang Member, plus a BB-8 Astromech Droid which is pretty cool! The set is a beast to build - not difficult in the least but it defintitly took longer than 12 Parsecs to complete and I could have walked the Kessel Run in the time it took to get all these little plastics blocks into some resemblance of an iconic sci-fi spacecraft! However, when complete its a large detailed model with lots of neat little features and plenty of room for lego play - the entire top opens up like a lotus flower allowing access to the interior (but these "petals" can be flimsy and have a habit of pinging off - hence my nephew is not allowed to play with his Falcon as his dad is fed up of constantly fixing it for him!!)Its a great set - pretty expensive but a must have really! Buy and enjoy it you big kids!

I am BB8
This was a treat to myself, I should treat myself more. This has been a great hit in our house, my 2 boys (3 and 5) loved helping me build it, for some reason they adore the BB8 figure in it.This often comes out to play with other Star Wars lego for battles between good and evil (for some reason I only ever get to play evil, but thats ok, I get to be Vader) and I have found it to be quite resilient when being played with (sometimes the curves at the back can come lose but are easily fixed).Although it is not suitable for younger master builders to build, it is great for them to play with. I would recommend it to anybody who has the money to spare on what is an expensive model.

Good contents
The box arrived damaged, scuffed and bent but the contents were in very good condition and sealed well. Seller was very efficient and helpful concerning my complaint about the state of the box.

Iconic ship, good playability, still worth it
As per my other Lego SW review - I am not a fan of the new film (VII) - nor did I necessarily want to "buy" into Lego franchises like SW - but after getting the iconic Lambda shuttle there's not a lot to get at this time: X-Wing, Tie Fighter, Millennium Falcon, err that's it?If you have now decided you wanted a MF but missed the previous one (7965) this is probably your only bet at a decent price; if you are not too bothered to get the new minifigures if you compare the two they are pretty much the same save a few mods here and there (you get Luke, Leia, Darth, Chewie, etc. with the old one)The main charge seems to be the two shooters in the "prongs" which does help with play-ability (just like the new X-Wing has shooters too) - and due to the new 4 rings it makes it look more like the UCS version. The open-up "shell" design is just as clever as before but in a way it seems there's not much has been changed/fixed. Personally I don't like that they've raised the side "airlock doors"? up - I always thought they are supposed to be pretty much on the ship's line.Inside there are a few more changes for play like the hidden compartments for the minifigures and a few more detail which is nice especially if you want to place all of them inside the ship.As long as you keep in mind this is really meant to be a toy and not really a collectors piece for the price you will be very happy with it. Otherwise you may be better off waiting for a new UCS or perhaps building your own based on fans' designs.

Fantastic Falcon
This caused me some grief to find but thanks to Amazon pre ordering, it arrived on Monday. No more faffing around on Ebay!! What a find.It has several bags (9 or 10 I think) & am currently finished no4 or 5 so far. Lots of little fiddly bits which suits me & more engaging than the Lego Movie Benny Spaceship (spaceship spaceship). It appears to have similar red bolts to fire out so may have to watch them with my children about & a mutt that chews things....I loved Lego as a 9YO & am now 5times that age, but if you love Lego AND Star Wars, it was an essential that fans of both would have to own.The fun bit once its finished is figuring out where to keep it.
