Draper 50021 350-Watt 230-Volt Belt and Disc Sander

I was looking for a workshop sander to use on small wood items and also on knife handles in wood, antler and bone. The Draper sander is perfect for my needs. It is quite heavy and is yet to be bolted down to the workbench. It runs very quietly and even with a small vacuum cleaner attached for dust extraction it is still pretty quiet.The assembly instructions are not perfect but the pictures help to put the item together. The sanding disc and the belt are already fitted when it arrives. A small piece of the dust extraction cover had been broken off, there was no damage to the packaging so it is a mystery as to how the damage occurred but it glued back on and is working fine.Very solid bit of kit, I have a feeling that this is one of those pieces of gear that just goes on forever!!

First one received was faulty. Steel guard binding on sanding disk (may have been damaged in transit). Replacement was fine. Have used several times both belt and disk - very effective and robust machine. Had trouble finding a way to connect dust outlet to my own extractor owing to the unusual outlet size - Suspect it is designed to encourage you to buy Draper dust extractor. One other consideration is that it is oriented for mounting at the left hand end of a bench to optimise access to both belt and disk. It is not feasible for me to mount at that end and consequently have mounted on a base that I can spin and lock in place according to whether I am using disk or belt.

Arrived in a damaged box, instructions weren’t super clear and then the parts didn’t fit together! Finally got it assembled and turned it on only to find that the disc sander was off centre so it makes a horrible noise!!

I ordered this...and when it arrived I was amazed at the weight of the sander...it weighed a ton !I've been using it for about a month now...and it really is the ' business '.If it's a bench sander you really want... I would suggest you won't go far wrong with this item - it's well engineered and built to last ( forever ).Just one suggestion... it's the kind of power tool that you have to treat with respect...and keep your eye on what's happening at all times.... if you don't you could end up being injured ! With the power in this thing - safety REALLY is important..read the safety instructions and follow them to the letter.. because as soon as you switch on this machine...you'll understand why.All in all...it's money well spent...and if you need a bench sander... you won't go wrong with this one.

Delivery was speedy but the product was so bad I should have sent it back.Two problems and they were major, firstly the table was so tight that the disc wouldn't turns I had to grind 5 mm off it. Secondly the belt wouldn't run straight and was running off and grinding the main body of the machine, i managed to fix this but it's far from perfect.It's the second one of these sanders I've had and I know that the other one was very good, that's why I went for another.I'm very disappointed with it but it's my own fault as I should have sent it back, i would have but courier services can be awkward for pick up's so I put up with it.

I had lots of work to do with the sander to the trim of my caravan prior to going on holiday so I thought the Draper looked ideal. When ordering I was given the option to order it complete with a set of discs and a set of belts which I did. The sander arrived within a couple of days and I assembled it and discovered that the dust deflector was supplied in its little plastic bag with one of its lugs broken off. Not a good start. I tested the item and it seems quite good - then I needed to change the disc and horror of horror - Amazon have supplied the wrong discs. The sander has a 200mm disc and the sanding discs supplied are 150mm. I now have to go and buy more locally as we did not have time to send them back to amazon before going on holiday. The sander is good though and suitable for what I bought it for.

been after one of these for a while and finally bit the bullet and went for this one. One of the few I have found that actually comes with the back guard on the belt which is a great help when squaring off items. Only one small gripe, the supplied belt had a bit of a ridge where it had been joined which tended to make life interesting when doing the sanding, but purchased some more belts which seem a lot better and I am now sanding anything I can get my hands on. brilliant bit of kit and would thoroughly recommend. Do make sure you connect it to some sort of dust extraction system though as it does make a heck of a lot of very fine dust and will cover your shed or workshop in no time.

Draper 50021 350W Belt & Disc Sander 230V This item I got several weeks ago & it is great for the odd job type of diy'er. It is a lot larger than the photo implies so do check the dimension before hand.No idea @ this time how much it will cost to replace the grit sheets. But it suites my needs very well.
