Amazing value for money
Given the price point of this little gem, if you are looking for a small device that will play video from USB/HDD I don't think you can go far wrong here. I bought this as a replacement for my WD Live HD Player. I'm pleased overall. The unit boots up very quickly (If I plug it in before I turn on the TV then it's ready before the TV is). This is great. The user interface is clean, clear and intuitive. Navigation to USB sticks and attached drives is fast. Playback quality is adequate for my needs, movement is smooth, picture quality good, no lipsync problems. (I am not a 'buff' by any stretch of the imagination). I haven't found a video file that it won't play back yet. The remote control worked as expected and is neither better nor worse quality than any other remote control in my collection. It's not perfect but nothing that compelled me to give this device less than the 5* review it deserves. In particular there is no 'info' button on the remote; there is a 'goto' button which results in a popup showing progress through the video (HH:MM:SS) and total length; you can navigate to anywhere in the video using this popup. I had some trouble with a video with 3 audio tracks and the unit decided to play the only non-english track (I had to edit the file on a PC to remove the German stream to fix this); there is an 'audio' button on the remote which (I guess) is supposed to switch between available audio tracks but when pressed only seemed to recognize one track and switched between R, L and Stereo.

Disappointing and Frustration
I recently purchased the Media Player with high hopes of enjoying seamless and immersive multimedia playback. However, after spending some time with it, I can confidently say that it has been a frustrating and disappointing experience. First and foremost, the user interface of the media player is incredibly clunky and unintuitive. Navigating through menus and settings feels like a maze, with convoluted menus that lack clear organization. Simple tasks such as adjusting playback settings or accessing specific files become unnecessarily complex, resulting in a cumbersome and time-consuming experience. The media player's performance is nothing short of abysmal. It frequently suffers from sluggishness and freezes, making even the simplest tasks a test of patience. Loading times for media files, especially larger ones, are excruciatingly slow, causing constant interruptions and buffering issues. This completely ruins the immersive experience and renders the media player virtually unusable. Compatibility issues are also prevalent with this media player. It struggles to handle various file formats, often resulting in distorted or missing audio and video. The lack of support for popular codecs and formats is frustrating, as it limits the media player's ability to handle a wide range of media content. Furthermore, the media player's remote control or interface controls are often unresponsive, requiring multiple button presses before a command is registered. This lag in responsiveness adds another layer of frustration to the overall user experience, creating unnecessary delays and hindering smooth navigation. The build quality of the media player is subpar as well. Cheap and flimsy construction materials make it feel like a low-quality product. Additionally, the device tends to overheat after prolonged use, which raises concerns about its longevity and potential for damage. In conclusion, the Media Player falls short on multiple fronts, providing a lackluster and frustrating experience. Its clunky user interface, poor performance, compatibility issues, unresponsive controls, and questionable build quality make it difficult to recommend. If you're seeking a media player that offers seamless playback, ease of use, and reliable performance, I strongly advise looking elsewhere

Compatibility
I had been through all of the reviews wondering if this player would suit my needs before eventually going for it. I would have bought sooner if I had found answers to all my questions so thought I would write a quick review - just in case some of you potential buyers are still on the fence. Had a LG 3D blue-ray player with USB input which had no trouble playing everything off my NTFS hard-drive. Unfortunately my player 'died' a few weeks back. This little player has turned out to be an exact replacement. It's tiny - about half the size of the 2TB hard drive it's playing off. But for what it does, size isn't an issue. Remote is perfectly adequate - much better than some I've seen. It does everything you need. But I'm more interested in its functionality rather than what it looks like. Connected the power, drive & HDMI cable & switched it on - very fast start up. It has no issues with my 2 TB NTFS formatted hard drive; It has played everything my previous player did. Menus are simple & straightforward. Providing you have the files organized nicely into folders/subfolders on your hard drive, easy to navigate. I'm finding picture quality on play back to be excellent. (Anything else would have been a major disappointment given the cost of the telly!) Majority of files are 3 to 4 Gb & I've not experienced any stutter or lag. I would guess that the avi cable would result in a little loss of quality, but I've no need to try it at the minute. 3D play back is excellent too. (Although it's the television doing all the 'conversion' work there.) Plays mp3's well & even includes a few basic, pre-set equaliser settings. And will also allow you to scroll through any jpegs on your drive. Playing anything else is a bonus. I bought it to play back my movie files & it does a great job. It's recognised every type of file I've thrown at it (so far). And it recognises NTFS format. Great little no frills player.

A pretty neat piece of kit
Overall, I think this is a pretty neat piece of kit – reasonably priced, pocket-sized and does the job adequately. However, it does have a few annoying niggles that prevent it from getting five stars. Firstly the user documentation is very poor – just one folded piece of paper and 90% of what it tells you is obvious anyway. When I first used the player, it flatly refused to play some of my files that played perfectly on my PC. After a frustrating couple of weeks I solved the problem by reformatting my disc drive from NTFS to FAT (not mentioned in the documentation). The user interface is very basic – just a list of folders and filenames. With over 200 movies on my disc drive it’s essential that they are named and organised sensibly, as there’s no search or index facility to help you find what you’re looking for. I like to have subtitles on when I watch a movie, so I was quite impressed when it automatically picked up and displayed my .srt subtitle files – however the font size was so small I had to move my chair nearer to the TV in order to read them, and there doesn’t seem to be any way to change the size. I haven’t had any problem with large files, as reported by other reviewers. My largest file is 5GB which plays OK. Overall I’m pretty happy with this player. PS. 7/10/19 Just worked out how to change subtitle size using OSD, so my only real complaint is with the poor user instructions (still haven't worked out how to use Repeat and GoTo functions).

You don't need a usb socket on your tv play ALL your external files through your tv.
What a wonderful piece of kit this is. I have an old H.D. Panasonic plasma tv in the conservatory and although there are usb sockets none of the sockets were able to cope with large file sizes I wanted it to play. Now I can play MP4 movies on this device up to 2TB. It really is fantastic Item with great options not just MP4. It really is plug and play just as it says on the "tin". Also it has great connection options such as H.D. and RGB leads and remote control ,but not a HD cable . I had a spare HD lead and plugged it into a HD port on the back of the T.V. and through the device settings I was able to get the T.V.s full resolution of 1080p definition (Good enough for my 72 years eyes) ? It works a treat with a 64GB USB with 30 movies on it and the devices on screen software organise the files in alphabetical order if they are named. The kit is portable as well and can play on any T.V. Maybe on holiday after a hard day on the beach ! Without a doubt I can fully recommend this device, its so simple to use, just like me. !

Disappointing media player
I recently purchased this media player from Amazon, and I must say, it has been nothing but a disappointment. From the moment I opened the box, I had a bad feeling about it. First of all, the setup process was a nightmare. The instructions provided were confusing and poorly written, making it a frustrating experience just to get the device up and running. It took me way longer than it should have to figure out how to config and connect it to my TV . Once I finally managed to get it working, I was shocked by how slow and unresponsive the user interface was. Navigating through my media library was a painfully laggy experience, and the remote control seemed to have a mind of its own, often registering button presses with a significant delay or not at all. The picture and sound quality were also underwhelming. I expected crisp and clear visuals, but instead, I got a grainy and pixelated mess. The audio was equally disappointing, with a noticeable lack of depth and clarity. To top it all off, the media player frequently froze and crashed, forcing me to unplug it and start over. It's incredibly frustrating to have to deal with constant technical issues when all I wanted was a reliable way to enjoy my favorite movies and TV shows. In conclusion, I would strongly advise against purchasing this media player. It's a subpar product that falls far short of expectations and is simply not worth the money. Save yourself the headache and invest in a more reputable and reliable media player instead.

Simple to use. well built. just works as it should
i have an old xenta media player like this and have used an old sumvision micro 2 in the past. some videos i had would not play no matter how i converted them! i needed a simple media player that would simply begin playing videos in a list over and over all day without having to press anything else. this one is perfect! you can set the setting to autoplay as soon as it powers on. you dont even need to press power on for it to power up. once it recieves power it turns on and begins playing the first video in your list! and then it plays the next video then with no problems and you can resize them on the screen to make it fit. cant fault it really. nice solid design. doesnt feel too warm so the components inside should last a while. played mostly all video formats ive thrown at it and it just works without any hassle. its perfect since a lot of players today focus on streaming or when they can play media files you almost always have a software hurdle such as no ability to play the next video on its own (you have to press a button) etc. this is great if say you have kids and a load of video files to keep them entertained and need a player that would just keep on playing until you press stop. or just have media files you need to play but they wont play on all your other devices. it connects via hdmi and has an rca cable so you can watch modern video files on an old tv setup

Okay as a basic media player
I've just received this media player so this review is after using it for about an hour. I had been using my Blu-Ray player as a media player with my 2TB external USB hard drive. It has worked well for several years. However, it can't read some file types, so I hoped this player would be able to. Firstly, the good news is that it read my Samsung 2TB USB3.0 external HDD without any issues, and this is a very small and neat unit. My external hard drive is NTFS-formatted so I was happy that this unit could read it. Setup was very easy as there are just a few things to set up, but you can use this unit right out of the box. It defaults to 720p on the HDMI output, so I changed that to 1080p 60Hz in the setup menu. The interface was very disappointing - just a basic list of folders and files. It also takes an age to read folders with large number of files in them (> 1,500 files in a folder, for example). Then you have to scroll file by file to play the video you want to, which takes ages if the movie you want to play is a long way down. I couldn't find a way to scroll page by page. The movies play fine in terms of visuals. However, fast-forwarding and rewinding was a bit hit and miss. Sadly, the same file types that my Blu-Ray player cannot play are also an issue for this player. The remote is also quite disappointing and not very intuitive to use. All in all, it's okay as a basic non-networked media player for your USB storage devices but don't expect a very user-friendly experience.

A Wonderful Media Player!
I had a great deal of difficulty trying to display my photos from my Nikon DSLR. The files are very large and of course there is a lot of detail in the photos. I am able to download them to my computer and that is not the issue. I just returned from a Mediterranean Cruise. Three days solo in Rome with the Colosseum and the Vatican, then the cruise with extensive daily excursions, and 11 days along the Italian coast, the Greek Isles, and Malta. 1600 photos to show the family! You cannot gather around the computer! I tried everything to display them on my TV and my daughter’s TV and even through her BlueRay player. I tried SD card slots, USB connectors, etc., on the TVs and nothing worked. Her BlueRay player froze and locked up because of the size of the SD card? Then I came across the AGPtek Black Mini HDMI Media Player. For an incredible low price, this device was a miracle worker for me. Such an easy device to use taking a USB Stick or a SD Card as an input for my photos. I was blown away when I saw all the photo, and movie, formats it could take. The 128 GB limit on the SD Card matched my new ‘high tech’ Nikon D500! So pleased. Connecting the device using the HDMI input to my older flat screen TV was a breeze. The remote it comes with requires a bit of practice to use but makes sitting with friends or family to watch a photo show so very relaxing. For the first ‘show’, I had 8 family members see Rome, Santorini, Athens, Mykonos, Rhodes, and Crete. We are only half way done, ha, ha! The display is totally lifelike through this device. So very compact and easy to setup! It is one of the best purchases for the price that I have ever made. Thank you so very much!
