York FitnessExercise Mat -DS

The York last mat lasted ages, probably had it over 15 years! I was shocked that the design hasn't changed a bit! Great for what I use it for!

Had one of these years ago, kept it for decades and still did the exercises after it was long gone with a boyfriend using it. The recommended exercises were always enough to keep me in shape in the past but gradually I stopped doing them, tried other exercises and yoga and stuff that worked for other people. Then ended up not exercising at all. Now I’ve put on on a bit of weight and remembered how I had used this mat for years and years, since about 15 years old, and it was like magic to keep me in shape and thought I’d see if they still make them and they do so thought I’d give it a go again during lock down. It’s better than I remember, quality wise, more spongy, and comes with warm up exercises that I find really helpful. I can still do the exercises I used to do with the mat and a few more that I used to avoid, just takes longer and I get exhausted and to be honest I don’t lose weight as quick as I used to because my metabolism has slowed right down and had kids but I still believe in the exercises. I know they work for me, it will just take a bit longer this time around because I’m not in my early twenties anymore.

I needed this matt as I was starting a new workout. I wanted something that would provide adequate support for any floor exercises that I would be doing. For £10 I suppose you get what you pay for. It is fairly padded, But I don't find it suits my needs. It tends to stick to my skin and as such, it ends up moving all over the place. Just to give you an idea what I was using it for, It was for the Insanity workout. It involves lots of different exercises at different speeds. One way to overcome the matt sticking to your feet is to just put a towel over it. Quite a simple solution really. But I still don't feel it offers the support that I would've liked. If you need it for slow stretching exercises, then I guess this would be an ideal matt. If you need it for quite high impact and speedy exercises/workouts, then maybe try something different. But like I say, for £10, I can't really grumble.

I bought this mat because the one I'd had was as flat as a pancake and I could still feel the floor through it. My knees hurt a lot less now because of the much better padding in this product  York Exercise Mat . Sometimes I use the old one as extra padding underneath this new one which gives added comfort.The York Exercise Mat is also a very good length, so most people can stretch out comfortably on it. They have kindly included an Exercise Programme which can help you with your mat work. And if you lose the hard paper copy, it's already printed on both sides of the  York Exercise Mat .

It's good for doing exercises like bicycle crunches and sit ups, I have noticed though it is only comfortable when using it when placed on soft surfaces like carpet or in the garden for example, it's very uncomfortable when performing exercises on floorboards or concrete or very thin carpet with poor quality underlay.I am satisfied with this product as it's length is suitable for my height (I'm 6 ft 2 inches) and I have access to a garden and good quality cushioned carpet so I can place the mat on that.I would recommend buying something that has better durability and longevity as this could be seen to tear and crack quite easily if put under harsh conditions, this mat is sort of a sponge material, I would recommend that thicker, more durable material for a mat, the sort of material that is used on mouse pads.

As this item has mixed reviews i was a little apprehensive about whether it'd be right for me. We live in a private rented house and so our carpeting is very very thin so i wanted a mat that would be comfortable while i exercised.THIS IS IT.This is a really good mat, was very comfortable with first use, could hardly feel the floor at all and for the price i am extremely satisfied. Its exactly what i wanted. Infact i found it hard to get my partner and daughter off it when it first arrived haha

The mat came within 2 days of ordering it which was great. Great value for money. Gives you good support as its padded, the length is great as some can be really short. The other side of the mat is red which the pic doesn't show. Good that it has exercises on the map and also comes with a sheet of exercises that you can do. Great buy & very happy with it

Use my York mat for yoga also. Slightly spongy and you can wipe-clean this forever. A little flat if you weigh over 78kg, might feel the ground a. It more. Love the old school York products and this can be folded and tucked away, it is pretty lengthy!
