EXCELLENT STORY
It has been many years since I’ve read a Clive Cussler novel. This one was as good as those I read years ago. Adventure, villains, and a not-so-mythical creature added to the charm.

Excellent action adventure story
This book is an excellent continuation of the Dirk Pitt series. Lots of action. Some of the science is a bit far fetched. And there are some parts that made no sense. Still, I enjoy reading this series and look forward to the next book

Curlers Intent
I LOVE Dirk Pitt adventures. My favorite movie is SAHARA and watched it again a few days ago. (I liked the ending of Sahara better than Shock Wave - but that's another story.) The interaction of Pitt and Giordano are priceless. I think SHOCK WAVE would make a good movie script as well, perhaps with a happier ending. They are adventures that could never work of course. They are fantasy. But it's fun and makes me laugh and that's Cusler's intent, I think.

Older book made to look like a new release
I've been a follower of Clive Cussler for many years and have enjoyed many of his books. In Shock wave, something is killing every living creature within certain grids of the Pacific ocean and surrounding seas, which draws Pitt and NUMA into investigating the events and searching for the cause. When Pitt discovers a cruise ship filled with corpses, he checks a nearby island and discovers a group of surviving passengers and their tour guide, Maeve, who becomes Pitt's love interest in the story.I always enjoy the first story in a Cussler book, in this case, the beginnings of a diamond dynasty almost two centuries earlier. Arthur Dorsett, the current day descendant, is also Maeve's father, whom she ran away from at a younger age. Mr. Dorsett has recently kidnapped Maeve's twin boys and blackmailed her to infiltrate the government and steal secrets related to the diamond industry. Pitt promises Maeve that he will rescue her two boys from Dorsett"s heavily fortified island. Dorsett is so rich that money solves all his problems. It is humorous to see how many pockets in the world hold payola from this man, and thus, allow him to run rampant and get whatever he wants while circumnavigating laws, policies, et al.Mr. Dorsett's and his other two daughters are within weeks of crushing the diamond industry. Their new technology makes it easy to mine the raw diamonds from his four island mines, which circle the Pacific, and produce enough raw stones to crash the market and make diamonds worthless. They are also aware of a by-product of their new technology; harnessing it to achieve their goals, and then covering up the destructive evidence. Once Pitt and company learn about the byproduct, they set out to destroy a dynasty and save the world. But at what cost?I felt certain parts were bogged down with excessive technical information that I had absolutely no interest in learning. However, Shock Wave is a good story and worth the read.

Great story!
A little over the top at times but there were a couple of interesting twists to the story. Not Clives best work but worth the read.

A really great ya written by a true master.
A really great book from a superb author, who really knows his stuff!.The story is complex, but easy to follow as it is so well written. 200 years ago, stealing just a loaf of bread would get you shipped out to Australia to a penal colony- yes we Brit’s were hard in those days. A ship carrying prisoners is wrecked in a violent hurricane, and the handful of survivors manage to reach a remote volcanic island. The island has a huge source of very large diamonds. The stones when cut and polished turn out to be of exquisite colour and flawless. The present day descendants are headed up by a totally ruthless murderous billionaire. He intends to completely dominate not only the diamond market but also coloured stones ie.. Emeralds, rubies etc so that he has complete world domination of the entire precious stone market.Meanwhile fish, seals whales and other sea creatures are mysteriously dying for no apparent reason. Our hero Dirk Pitt gets involved when the passengers and crew of a large cruise ship drifting in the ocean is boarded: only to find everyone aboard dead!.This is a great yarn, beautifully written by a master of suspense - a very compelling read difficult to put down.

Chaos
I found the book very confusing. It repeated the first 100 pages about six times, and never moved on. So a great disappointment.

nail biting
It was most pleasant to see Clive Cussler back in the book. I have missed his cameo parts in some of his recent books. The story line is to me all to familiar in that the ultra rich think they can rule the world. It is a very poignant to feel that there are still good people in the world who will always try to help others.
