Don't waste money on other useless remedies
Having been fed up from two bad colds last winter I looked into natural therapies and came across the research mentioned below for zinc lozenges and this is the only one to meet the criteria. Well since Feb last year I've had no colds but I have had at least 3 or 4 on the verge before taking the lozenges and they stopped the colds dead. When I take a lot in a day I do get a slight headache but a price worth paying to not have a cold I think. As someone else said you need to be strict about taking them as soon as you feel it coming and then one every 2 hours. I actually like the taste and the size doesn't bother me, its slightly pepperminty. As far as I'm concerned, touch wood, its the cure for the common cold and I keep loading up on them and put them in the cupboard or my travel bag wherever I go. Only thing here is the delivery price and it adds it for each bottle so for 3 costs 21 quid which is ridiculous, they should look into that.Update Jan 2020Coming up to 3 years since my last full blown cold now and put it firmly down to using these. A couple did come out when i didnt take them in time or not enough but they reduced the symptoms and period significantly, had runny nose and a slight cough but clear head and sinuses and have had no sick days in that time. Noting a couple of other comments, the lozenge needs to take 20 mins to dissolve hence the size, for the ionization to work. Also cannot contain sorbitol or any kind of citrus as they stop the ionization. Hence i have only found this product to meet the criteria of actually killing the virus in the back of your throat. Just hope they dont ever discontinue!

Inedible!
I had been led to believe that this was a once-a-day zinc food supplement. When it arrived it suggested eating one every two hours but warning that this level of consumption would deplete copper in the body and cause gastric discomfort. The tablets themselves are huge, and, although the instructions say to dissolve in the mouth they just don't. I sucked for ages, and the thing never got any smaller! All that happened was that my mouth got dry and I had to spit the thing out eventually. Waste of money.

One of the best anti-cold remedies.
Awfully useful in the fight against nasty cold bugs. Suck one as soon as you get the first symptoms. AS SOON AS. It'll taste a bit unpleasant and dry out your mouth a bit. Worth it, as overall duration and severity of the bug won't be as bad. If you wait several hours, the lozenge will taste better but by then it's probably too late.Alternatively, just gargle with whisky.

Disappointed with the size and performance of the product
I used to take a zinc supplement from the same manufacturer and thought I was buying the same product. However, this is a different product, the size of the lozenge is too big and does not dissolve well neither the expected effect is noticed. I use to have sores in my mouth which are easily gone with a small zinc lozenge. This one does nothing. My husband also uses zinc and he got very disappointed as well..

I bought these for my 85 year old mother who had been recommended them by a friend of hers. She is very happy with the product.

Massive tablets!
These tablets are massive!

Inferior to Swanson's, these are huge, hard, sharp _tablets_, ridiculously bloated with Dextrose!
I bought these because I couldn't find more Swanson (sugar-free) Zinc Acetate Lozengers, big mistake! All lozengers _must_ have a uniformly smooth shape to be comfortable to suck on the tongue, for the minutes they take to gradually dissolve, so I think it a deceit to call these uncomfortably hard, sharp-edged, cylinder _tablets_ lozengers. This is lazy, crude packaging, needlessly bulked huge by several unnecessary grammes of Dextrose (pure sugar poison), something I normally avoid but somehow missed this time.As soon as I can find and buy proper sugar-free Zinc Acetate Lozengers these are going in the bin!

The warnings required in California were updated by new implementing regulations that became effective in late 2018. The Act mandates that a daily serving of a dietary supplement must not exceed 0.5 micrograms (mcg) of lead (Pb). If the Pb content of a dietary supplement exceeds this threshold, California Proposition 65 requires that the product must bear a warning on its label stating that “Consuming this product can expose you to Lead, which is known to the State of California to cause birth defects or other reproductive harm. For more information go to www.P65Warnings.ca.gov/food.” Alternatively, the regulations allow a short form warning that states, “Reproductive Harm – www.P65Warnings.ca.gov”.\n\nHowever, it is important to keep in mind that ALL naturally occurring ingredients (i.e., botanical extracts and minerals) contain naturally occurring lead. If there are any botanical extracts or minerals in supplements, there may be miniscule amounts of lead in them. \n\nCalifornia’s requirements for dietary supplements are far below the rigid standards set by other scientific organizations. For example, the lead level that the Joint FAO/ WHO Expert Committee on Food Additives determined to be a safe daily intake (3.5 mcg/kg/day) for an average-sized human is 245mcg. In fact, at this level of daily intake, blood Pb levels do not rise appreciably. Thus, a prestigious scientific organization is using a cutoff of lead per day of 245mcg but the State of California is using 0.5mcg, a difference of 490-fold.\n\nConsider that in order to ingest an unsafe daily level of Pb, as documented by global scientific regulatory authorities, a 70 kg man would need to consume nearly 500 servings of a dietary supplement containing 0.5 mcg of Pb per serving.\n\nMany foods also contain levels of lead that exceed the Proposition 65 threshold. To put things into perspective: A single serving (one cup or 230 grams) of grapefruit contains approximately 5.98 mcg of lead, which exceeds the Proposition 65 limit by nearly 12 times. One cup of cooked rice (one serving or 46.25 grams raw rice) contains about 2.17 mcg of Pb, more than 3-fold higher than the Proposition 65 threshold. A 90-gram serving of shrimp (about 5 large shrimp) can contain as much as 18.9 mcg of Pb, or 37-times greater than the Proposition 65 limit. Following this logic, one serving of grapefruit, rice, or shrimp, according to Proposition 65, “contains a chemical known to the State of California to cause birth defects or other reproductive harm.”\n\nLife Extension strongly supports rigid quality standards in dietary supplements. It also applauds California for making an extra effort to protect its residents. However, California’s Proposition 65 legislation is perplexing and not consistent with information from well-known scientific organizations.\n\nFor more information on Life Extension’s commitment to quality, please reference the following document:\n\nhttp://www.lifeextension.com/Vitamins-Supplements/Health-Nutrition-Awards/Good-Manufacturing-Practice\n\nIf there is anything else that we can help you with, please e-mail us or call the Wellness Specialist helpline at (800) 226-2370; international customers dial 001-954-202-7660.
