Excellent little radio!
I wanted to get an "old school" portable radio to attach to my bike for Summer riding and couldn't find an old one anywhere or for the right price. So I decided I would buy a new one that acted like an old one but was afraid I just couldn't find one since they don't make things like that anymore! Well, let me tell you, this one does the job! It's a bit lighter in weight than an old school one but the sound on this was excellent, clear, and picked up a ton of stations even before I pulled the antenna out! Yes, ANTENNA! I am so happy with this little radio! It is everything I was looking for! It takes 2 AA batteries (way cheap) and it barely uses any battery power to work (radios never do). I miss the days of before, when things were simple. This little radio brought me back to the 1980s :) Also, the shipping was 1 day, yes, I ordered on Saturday and it was delivered on Sunday and the company even emailed saying they hoped I was happy with radio and that if there were any problems at all, they would promptly take care of it and that customer satisfaction is #1! They were right. I HIGHLY recommend this company and their products!

The Coyotes Love It!
I took this radio backpacking, and it was cold, in the 20s, with windchill in the teens, I had fresh batteries in it and we listened to it for 3 nights in a row on those batteries and it was still going strong when we went home. It has okay sound, it’s plenty loud enough but maybe somewhat “tinny” sound but hey it’s a tiny radio what do you expect? Anyway to give you an idea of how loud and clear, every time I’d turn it on, the coyotes all around would begin barking and howling from far away, I think they never hear sounds like it radio and mistook it for another coyote out there and they were calling to it saying “hey! We’re over here!” Anyway it’s a good quality radio and let me also add we did have some light rain and it did get wet and even that didn’t have any negative effects on it, it didn’t get soaking wet but my backpack was wet my rain jacket too, and this radio was certainly as wet as everything else and it held up fine! It’s a good radio and a great price.

Could have been a contender
I put this on my bicycle using a cellphone holder. I had the radio about one week and was using it for the third time. I was riding at night and all of a sudden, the radio went silent. I put a flashlight on it and discovered the antenna had fallen off. I now have a paperweight that looks like a radio. In the short time I had the radio, I did not notice any degradation of the batteries, and I suspect the run time is above average. The speaker is decent for a small inexpensive radio. Reception is definitely above average. It pulled in five times the stations of another inexpensive radio I had tried. It also held the stations well, whereas the other radio would have fade in and out. The manufacturer could make one huge improvement, however, by simply gearing down the tuner. The tuner covers the entire range of frequencies in just two spins, which makes it extremely difficult to center on a station. A slower tuner would make the radio much more user friendly. All-in-all, not a bad radio if it had lasted more than one week. Note: I revised my rating to 4-stars from 1-star because the company came through with a full replacement.

A little wonder!
We needed a radio to play all night daily to protect our chickens from predators who are scared off by the music/voices in the dark. The old boom box we had used for two years had finally given up the ghost and we bought something similar to replace it. The reception and sound was very poor and we were surprised to find that it had no antenna. Because the radio needs to be outside near the coops, we must keep it in some sort of water resistant container. We were searching for something that would be small enough to be easily contained. My daughter suggested this transistor radio. It has proven to be perfect! It’s small enough to put in a sandwich sized plastic container and can be hidden under the overhang on one of the coops. Even in the confined space of the container, we have been able to adjust the antenna enough so that the reception and sound are clear. It has run 10 hours a day for approximately two weeks without any sign of battery failure. The predators have apparently moved on as we have not had a problem since it’s been on at night. Great news since we had 3 attacks in 5 nights before we realized that we had forgotten all about the radio protection. This radio has been perfect for our needs. A great purchase at an amazing price.

Buying this radio is a real gamble
I bought two (2) of these radios on May the 16th, 2019. My excuse for doing so is that the reviews were good (still are, for that matter) and the price was right. However, they were of unacceptable quality from the first time I used them, and my only excuse for not immediately returning them was that they SOMETIMES worked properly, and I thought that maybe I was doing something wrong. Well, that was true, but my mistake was in buying them. THEY'RE TERRIBLE, except when they work, which is not often. When they work properly, which is infrequently, and then, for only a few minutes, I have no particular criticism, so I'm not rating them based upon sound quality, battery life, etc; I'm rating them upon reliability, and they are an absolute zero by that measurement. I could go on, but I don't think that would serve any useful purpose. THEY DON'T WORK. Need I say more? FINAL, FINAL: It occurred to me that some might find it strange that I have waited this long to write my review. Well, I shouldn't have, but I managed to struggle along by using this dud together with my much older radios. They filled in the gap, even though they were suffering the effects of very hard use for long periods of time (Even their antennas were broken off) Oh, yeah, why didn't I buy a trustworthy brand, like Sony? Well, l thought they were too expensive then, but I just bought one at a reasonable price. I should be getting it in a few days. Good old Sony. I know I can depend on it.

Nice volume and quality Sound
This is an amazing device. An old fashioned and dependable small radio AM FM. Just install two batteries AA and you’re good to go. Stay informed in case of a blackout (no energy, no modem, sometimes not even cell phone signal). This pocket radio will keep you informed. In regards to the device itself, it must be said that independently of its size it has a very good quality sound and a very respectable volume. The only thing is that you have to learn how to find your favorite radio stations because the tuning selector is very tight; nonetheless, I’ve able to listen to all the radio stations I like both in AM and FM frequencies. It is very important not to rely solely on your online or cell phone communication, get your pocket radio ASAP!!!

Great sound, but no lower level.
I bought this to replace my Sony, which was becoming scratchy. Great reception, good sound for its size, but I really needed something for lower, quieter levels and this model doesn’t have a quiet level. It becomes clear at a moderate level, too loud for what I wanted. It would be great for a shop or boat, or someone hard of hearing, but not my kitchen, I just can’t get it tuned to a soft level. Also, the on/off dial is the opposite of my previous radios, so when I go to turn it off, I end up cranking it up instead of down and blasting my ears. I can’t speak to longevity as I’m going to give it to a thrift store. Not a bad radio, but not for me. Sad as I can’t seem to find another Sony and this looked very similar.

Best Little Radio Around
Best little radio this side of the Pecos River! Okay, that’s a commercial for Pace Picante. Seriously, though, best little radio!! Absolutely perfect for my needs. I wanted something I could use in the home office and easily carry around, room to room, if needed (to keep listening to NPR). This one fits the bill. I’ve been so annoyed with the radios in the house because the stations always have static (and it’s too much effort to unplug and move them once set up)(and those small wire antennas never seem to work anywhere in the house). I’ve spent stupid amounts on radios and antennas, before, and all I needed was this simple set up. Great reception! Compact, and, I like the retro look. Brings me back to the simple days; car washes in the yard, garage door up, summer patio chillin’ days. No hassle about connecting to WiFi or charging it up to use. Just a simple, go-to, battery charged compact AM/FM radio!

Satisfactory
Writing a review after more than six months of using the radio. Price is too high. Sound quality is good and sharp, but not powerful as they mentioned in the description. Not long lasting. Batteries exhaust soon. Outer body (plastic) is of very poor quality and seems to be fragile if the radio is dropped. Overall i give satisfactory remark. Needs to improve with respect to powerful sound, tough body material, quick and efficient picking up of signals /stations when tuned. As this product is priced too high.

Excellent little radio
Got this to use for the occasional drive in movies and emergency cases. Works fantastic off a few batteries and the battery life is great. Sound isn't the best but connect an external speaker via the jack and it's a game changer. No more dead batteries or having to idle the car during drive in movies!
