Very good product, works well!!!
This is a good product and works well! The body of the item seems to be solid -- the only slight negative that I have against it is that the cable is permanently attached to it. Hence, when packing for travelling one may need to take extra precaution to make sure the cable is not damaged. Frankly I would have preferred a standard USB 3.0 removable cable -- similar to what one gets when purchasing an external drive -- as I always have a couple of those lying around.Regarding the seller (CSL-Computer) all I can say is "Thank you for the excellent service!"To elaborate, when I received my unit I did a quick test using the SD Card I had in my camera and plugged in one of my external USB 3.0 drives (WD My Passport 4GB). All worked flawlessly and the file transfer was reasonably quick -- both with my Surface Pro and my MacBook Pro. I then put the item away until I needed it. About 5 to 6 weeks later, I used my action cam and wanted to download the footage from the microSD card. I took out this card reader and it was only then that I realized that the unit supplied was faulty and it could not read any of my microSD cards (I tried 3 different brands). I contacted CSL-Computer and explained that the item supplied to me was faulty and admittedly I was partly at fault for not checking sooner that all the ports (USB, SD and microSD slots) worked correctly before the Amazon return cut-off date. CSL-Computer was kind enough to immediately forward to me a replacement unit at no further charge. Thanks guys... your service deserves five stars! Now back to the reason I bought this item. I needed something portable that could simultaneously support either an SD or microSD card as well as a portable external drive. I regularly use SD and microSD cards for photography and, to a lesser degree, in action cams. I have a MacBook Pro (with built-in SD card Reader), as well as, a Microsoft Surface Pro 3. Although I did not need this item for the MacBook Pro, I tested it... it all worked smoothly and data transfers were quick. The challenge I had was with the Microsoft Surface Pro 3 having only one USB port. To copy photos from my cameras over to an external drive, I needed to first copy the photos from the camera over to my Surface Pro then unplug the camera and plug in the external drive. Then import the photos from the Surface Pro into the external drive. This was a needless double effort and was wasting time. With this unit, I can now plug in a SD/microSD card and an external drive into it and copy the photos directly into the external drive.Transferring from one or more USB Flash Drives (or a SD/microsSD card) to an external hard drive works flawlessly for me. Regretfully, as I do not have any external SSD drives I cannot comment here. I suspect that as SSD drives require less power to run the unit may be able to support more that one such drive.Note that this item does not have an external power supply (namely, it's drawing its power from the USB port) -- thus it should not be used with more than one "regular" (non-SSD) external portable hard drive plugged in at a time. Thus, transferring files between two external portable hard drives using only this device (as would be the case using the MS Surface Pro 3) will not work. The limitation here often arises out of the fact that the laptop's USB port is limited in how much power it can supply -- supplying power for one external portable drive is often well within that limit; however, two external portable drives will most often surpass that limit. As far as desktop external drives are concerned, these have their own separate power supply and I can assume it may be possible that this unit may support more than one such external desktop drive.

Great product but with a downside
Great product but has one negative: SD card and MicroSD card cannot be used simultaneously.Only one can be operated at a time. It's was not clear on the description; Seller confirmed the fact.Otherwise great purchase.

Works great with Apple iPad Pro 10.5” on iOS 13
Excellent little hub, perfect for what I need, which is, a usb 3 hub to use with a iPad Pro 10.5” on iOS 13 to plug into a Apple usb3 camera connection kit to then allow the copying of files between a usb pen and sd card direct and it works perfectly and fast too. With iOS 13 now having external drive support I wished to utilise this to create a full copy of photographs on the go without the need to copy them to the iPad first. Finding out which devices are compatible with this was not easy but eventually I found the information required. The most important detail for devices with the lightning connection is the Apple usb 3 camera connection kit which allows you to power the device as well as connect this usb 3 hub which then allows the connection of usb pen drives and SD cards and then you are off, works great and exactly how I hoped it would. Now I have tested them hubby has nicked them to wrap up for Christmas!

Sweetly, practical and designed well for desk orderliness.
Great little device to move my ports from the back of the screen to a place I can see them. Very small, neat, design fits with the apple, I like that there's not much wire so they just sit under the screen without excess. Didn't realise there was a distracting blue backlight which I could do without (whether or not you have plugs in, it leaks out around the ports). Is very light - a plus for mobile users, but a pain to anchor down if your port wires are a bit unruly. Very slim, so maybe you have to lift it to plug in anyway, I might add a bit of weight to pin it down and small wire holders to stop them snaking around my desk. Speedy but I'm not a heavy size user, so I can't judge that.

Fast USB 3 Hub
Another person with a Mac - Apple does like to hide all ports at the back of the screen which is a pain to get to. This hub fits nicely just below the iMac and the USB and card readers work well. The short, quite thick cable does dictate how the hub will sit on the desk, as the hub is very light but this is a lower priority for me than having a fast bitrate.Part of my job requires me to view massive video files and my previous USB2 card reader allowed me to view at real time but speeding up to 5 or 10x speed and it would struggle. This USB 3 hub allows me to view HD video at 10x speed no problem at all and it's very smooth. I'm very happy with this product.

USB 3.0 speed SD card reader with hub!
This hub is made out of aluminium but not the short sides, those are white plastic. There is writing on one side (see picture) but not the other. The 3 USB ports light up blue and are USB 3.0.The SD Card Reader is also USB 3.0 Speed, it reads SD cards at 100mb/s and writes at roughly 15mb/s (SanDisk Ultra 64GB SDXC class 1). It may write faster if a faster SD card is inserted. The usb cable is roughly 30cm long and quite sturdy. All in all probably the best hub for the price. Be careful of the cheaper usb hubs with SD card readers. A lot of them only have usb 2.0 speeds for the sd card reader but usb 3.0 speeds for the USB ports. You have to read the small print!

Just What I Needed
Having just bought a new laptop, it’s been driving me nuts that many of the new models (including mine!) have far fewer USB ports these days. In my case, just the one.For the most part, that’s not too much of a problem - but I often need to download photographs from my camera, which means I can’t use my Bluetooth mouse at the same time. This natty little device works much like an electrical extension lead, allowing multiple USB devices to be accessed at the same time. There’s even a handy photo card reader, too.The body of the device is designed along ‘apple’ lines, if you know what I mean - and is really light and portable.Works a treat!
