A bit of a rip off, eh?
It works in principle, but... This is the only handlebar mount listed as compatible with GPSMap 62, so I kinda didn't have a choice, and bought it. What do I get for my ten (used to be thirteen) pounds? A piece of flimsy plastic worth about ten pence and four cable ties. Ah c'mon Garmin people, SERIOUSLY? It's bad enough that official maps cost as much as the unit itself, but charging a tenner for THIS? In fairness, the description on Amazon is accurate and I knew what it would look like - but again, does Garmin give me a choice? Besides, I don't know what bright engineering mind decided that cable ties are good fastening for a high vibration application. No matter how tight I pull them, the GPS still moves gradually and has to be re-positioned every so often. Taking the unit out of the mount takes a relatively noticeable effort, too, and the mount moves again. So I don't know. For three quid it would be a star buy, but for the asking price - meh.

Terrible design
You get a flimsy bit of plastic and some cable ties. It's terrible value for £8, but I wouldn't care about that if it worked as it's supposed to.. (1) The cable ties don't hold the mount in position - you end up cycling with one hand on the mount to stop the GPS rotating on the bar. Lot's of people have this problem. I've heard you can work round it using a bit of old inner tube. (2) The GPS attachment is fiddly and easy to get wrong. It's quite easy to put the GPS on with only one side attached - it feels OK, but as soon as you hit a bump it comes off It's not rocket science that's missing here - I can't believe the people who designed this ever actually tried it out on the road.

Very poor design, totally unfit for the purpose
I bought this mount so I could use my handheld Garmin Dakota on my roadbike. All went OK the first couple of times I used it, but hitting a small bump in the road at speed caused the GPS to fly out of the mount into the countryside, never to be seen again. I sent the mount to Garmin but they weren't at all helpful, telling me it was basically my fault for not inserting the GPS correctly. In my opinion the handheld Garmin GPS units are too heavy to be used on a bike with this slide-in type of mount. Although there is an audible click when the unit is fully inserted (something Garmin customer 'services' told me I couldn't have done...I did) the unit can come adrift when the bike hits a bump. It is worth noting that Garmin have a completely different mount for their cycle specific Edge units which has a quarter-turn locking mechanism, which seems far more secure. If you have a handheld Garmin GPS, please don't be tempted to buy this bike mount as you are very likely to lose it. I wish I had read all the reviews of this item before buying it, as I don't seem to be the only person this has happened to.

The fit is far too tight for my Garmin Colorado 300
I bought this unit despite misgivings about the design; in particular the ties you need to use to fix the mount on to your bike. What a daft idea! But I never got the opportunity to test the efficacy of this design feature. Let me explain. I slid the mount onto my Colorado and it gripped like it was never going to let go. In fact, it didn't let go. I struggled for half an hour trying to remove it, until the mount actually started to bend out of shape! So I had to cut the thing off with a hacksaw. The mount is now where it belongs - in the bin! As a postscript to my review. I bought a replacement mount from Ebay (couldn't find one on Amazon). It was 40% cheaper and much better quality, having a connection similar to earlier Garmin mounts that actually screw on to the handlebar. It has been on my bike for a year now and still works perfectly.

Poor design, difficult to use, expensive
Expensive and poorly designed, this is barely functional. I'm using this with an Etrex 30, as according to the Garmin website this is the correct bike mount for that model. As many reviewers have stated, it is a very tight fit. Presumably with use it will wear and loosens up. As I want to be to able to remove my GPS with ease when I stop I can't wait to see if that happens, and am now looking for a third party product. Contrast this with the well designed mount for the Edge series of bike GPSs (which I also own) and it's clear that this is an after thought, cheap to manufacture and sold at an excessive price.

I returned this mount before even fitting to my bike ...
I returned this mount before even fitting to my bike. The mount doesn't securely lock the Garmin in place as play in the mount and the shape of the locking tab allow the unit to side out of the mount without you depressing the release. All that holds your Garmin in place is a bit of friction so really it's just a matter of time before it falls out. It might be ok for riding on smooth roads but even then I'd be worried. It's worth mentioning that the mount is basically the same design as the carabiner attachment that ships with the unit.... only that one does actually lock to the Garmin.

Fake, not Garmin
I owned one of these already (which works very well) before I bought two more from Amazon. These ones don't work well, and the GPS slips out easily. The moulding is poor quality from poor quality mould tooling. It comes in a plain unbranded plastic bag, not Garmin packaging. This is a fake. Suggest you buy elsewhere, and don't judge the Garmin product by the reviews for this one.

Worst design ever, the unit does not stay in place
Worst design ever, the unit does not stay in place, broke it trying to remove my Garmin device. I can not believe that Garmin would produce such a bad product - very disappointed. when you attach it it does not stay in place, it keeps moving on the bar. I broke it by trying to remove my Garmin device once I put it on. AVOID!

Works well
Use this on my dirt bike handlebars. If I biff it, the garmin will pop off slightly and avoid damage. Install is easy with the zap straps, but you only get enough, so make sure you have it where you want it!

100% Original Garmin
