If you are using a basic habitrail set up I thoroughly recommend this addition. The gentle curve on the two central tubes makes them very versitile when designing more complex networks for your pet(s) to explore. The corners are always useful, especially when linking several cages together so they are not on one level only. Both my gerbil clans love sleeping in the den. Our youngest female has stuffed hers full of tissue paper, and made a very comfortable nest there. I have noticed both lots of gerbils seem to enjoy sitting up high in the den to watch the surrounding room on the same level as us. This kit is much better value for money than buying the den unit on its own.

Easiest option, don’t buy a hamster, if you’re reading this review, unfortunately, you’ve probably already made that mistake!They will chew their way to freedom and keep the entire street awake at night whilst doing it! The only positive I can conclude, at least you can watch them in the tubes as they plot their escape!!

Having bought my cage from another seller I haven't connected the whole lot together yet, but have had my hamster playing in the tubes and den, she seems happy, she's a reasonably large Syrian and seems to have no trouble. She tried to find something to chew on in the den but couldn't, so fingers crossed once the loft cage arrives I won't have to listen to have chewing all night!

I think they should be specific whether these accessories are suitable for dwarf hamsters like mine as this is too wide for them to climb

After owning a few hamsters over the years, I stumbled upon this habitrail set-up, we have had the hamster in this cage for almost a year and just separating the water dispener from the main cage is a bonus, no more smells, easy to clean, loads of tubes to explore, can purchase extras, the actaul extra here is brilliant, if you put gravel in this part the hamster actually starts using it as a toilet without training it! how good is that, you just empty daily, no smelly cage! He loves pulling bedding all around the cage and sleeps in different areas, also benefitting from an unsqueeky wheel!!, I have nothing but praise for this ingenious invention, deep clean about once a month!

Buying a habitrail cage was a HUGE mustake, but hindsight is a wonderful thing! We bought the tube which fitted on to our original cage, and were delighted to find it was so cheap. However, after our hamster using it for only a day, we noticed it was getting steamed up and her fur was permanently wet. The cause of this is inadequate ventilation. Needless to say, we have re-housed our hamster in a traditional wire cage.
