Satin Ice White Buttercream Frosting - 1lb - Pail

I am a huge fan of satin ice products from their delicious flavored fondant to their beautiful very bold colored buttercream. Needing to make a black and red cake, and knowing that color can be very temperamental when adding gel colors to buttercream.. This is my go to for when I need really intense color and consistent colors as well. I turned you add a bit of my own buttercream to this, but you could use it straight out out of the package as well because even on its own, it is quite yummy. The plastic resealable container helps make sure that this stays fresh for a long time and I love that it is the shelf stable.

Tastes good whipped up nicely

0/10. It smells like a foot, tastes like a pencil eraser and leaves a thick layer of oil on the roof of your mouth. It also gets pools of oil if you leave it sitting at room temp for too long. I also don’t know why but I assumed a pound would be a lot more than it was so.. the price is horrible considering the quality and amount you get. It’s the size of the pre packaged frosting that you get at any grocery store. Your better off taking a trip to the store to pay $0.99 for the same amount of way better tasting frosting. Worst frosting experience of my life and almost $20 I will never get back. I would’ve spent less MAKING real butter cream.

Quality was a four out of five. Definitely didn’t taste homemade or fresh. It came sealed. Was easy to die and very white when delivered.

First off, you will need a lot more than you think if you're going to use one of the big star or plain tube piping tips (I was using the Ateco 827 and 808 tips for reference). I ordered 2 pails of this frosting and I was only able to frost 12 cupcakes. There was just enough left to hand frost 2 more, which was ok since I needed 14 but those 2 obviously weren't pretty. This buttercream is also super super sweet! If you're used to more milder buttercreams like what Sam's Club uses or if you make the Wilton Buttercream recipe, this stuff will probably be too sweet for you. This frosting did pipe really well though, so there's one positive. I'm going to just stick to making my own from now on, because this just wasn't worth the cost.
