Great Results
It has turned some rough old pieces of oak into clean, smooth, square and parallel lovely oak planks! As for that maddening nut to hold the extractor port in place for planing, I replaced it with an M6 wing nut - problem solved !

Difficult
I don't get it. In the planning mode, the infeed table drops but the outfeed table is fixed. I can't figure out how it can possibly work. The thicknesser mode works. It's a bit of a faff changing from planing? to thicknessing mode.

Great bit of kit
Great bit of kit, I use it fairly often, I did have to bend the fence a mill to make it square but other than that it’s great

Poor quality
Purchased one of these machines from screwfix,to clean up a quantity of floor boards, I do not have to earn a living with this machine so the price was good, set up is a bit fiddly to start but you soon get used to switch from planer to thicknesser. Managed to clean up the floor boards, the next time I used the machine i got a nasty burning smell from the motor, contacted screwfix who in turn changed the machine as it was still under guarantee. The second machine did not last very long, ran some softwood through, did not use planer, seemed okay, althoughI did notice the shavings were like dust, had no cause to use the machine again for a while, when i needed to use the planer I found the tables were not level, which eventually caused the machine to fail.On contacting screwfix due to it being just out of guarantee they could not help, I asked a specialist engine builder to check it over for me, he reported back that the two bearings either end of the shaft had been wrongly installed causing damage to the shaft. The work and cost for correcting the machine would be more than the machine is worth, so it’s destined for the skip, waste of £150.On reading reviews recently it turns out quite a few of these machines have suffered the same problem with the tables not level, so if you buy one check the machine over before using.

I have one of these machines and although it sounds slightly crude in comparison to more expensive machines when running still does a serious job.I got mine from Screwfix for about half the price. Can't fault it as a tradesmans tool.

A Good Bit of Kit
No problems with level (the bed) or square (the fence), assembly is easy and the instructions are good. I have just put 6 pallets worth of wood through it for a garden projects so the edger, planer and thichnesser all got a good workout and the results were, in my humble opinion, great and this is the first time I have used a planer. Overall it does what it says it should - and I got mine from Screwfix, next day delivery, for 159.99.
