Superb
This is an absolute must for anyone attempting a few socket changes. I fitted a socket, then found that it wasn't working, so I had to unistall it and revert to the original socket, until I can get the new one replaced. This tool has two little fly out tools, one either side of the handle. One side is a little screwdriver, useful in a pinch, although it is easier to use an electrical screwdriver. On the other side is a little hook, which is for getting under the wires connected in the socket, and easily pulling them upards and free of the socket. To reconnect the wires, just line them up with the business end of the tool and firmly push down. There is a click and the wire is fitted in place, and loose end trimmed. This tool is far superior to the little, frail, plastic things that are sold. It's not an expensive item, but well worth the money. It makes messing about with telephone sockets so much easier.

Did the job and for a good price :-)
Its hard to say much about this other than that it works and for a very cheap price.I used it only once to rewire some socket extensions to improve my phone and ADSL quality. Its a bit fiddly but easier than trying to poke them in with a knife or tweezers like I used to :-)When something is this cheap you may aswell have one in your toolkit, even if its just for emergencies

I only looked at the reviews after receiving my tool and prior to posting my review. Very surprised by the negatives which are prominent but in fact there are many more happy users. This worked perfectly without any problems. The cutter worked well although needs a good push until you get a definite clunk when the wire is punched down and the excess wire flies off. Instructions would be useful but a bit of experimenting before going for it will establish the way to do it. Generally the wire entry path in a module is obvious so position the cutter side of the tool on the opposite side of the IDC blade, this will position the push down head either side of the IDC blade ready to push the wire down. The business end is what appears to be a cast metal head rather than tool steel as in a genuine Krone but appears adequate for the job providing that you don't work in a telephone exchange. £2.99 for a piece of plastic from Maplin, you can't go wrong at this price.

Works OK
It arrived promptly and comes with a plastic pouch. No instructions though, if you have not used one before, you have to look on the internet for guidance.Mine looked a bit like one that had been used before or refurbished. There were a few scratches and finger marks around the handle and a screw head was burred.I was a bit doubtful but found it worked fine when fitting a CAT5E cable to an R45 jack. The device is designed to trim off the end of the cable when you punch it down into the connector. It does work, but you need to feed the end of the cable into the cutter jaws first, then keep pushing down. The tool head retracts into the handle and the jaws close around the wire. The tool fitted nicely into the connector block and made a good connection.I'm happy with it for the limited use it will get. I would say that anyone like me who has not done this before needs to read carefully the guidance available on the internet about where the wires go and how to work with CAT5/6 LAN wiring.Makers Instructions would have been helpful.

A tool worth buying
I work as a volunteer and it had been some years since I had constructed Network cables and this tool makes fitting the wires into the plug just so easy. Push down and the wire is seated and at the same time cutters on the side remove the surplus wire leaving a very neat and professional job. I was so impressed with this tool a bought a spare. Great value for money.

Made a tricky job easy
Bought this as replaced a load of duff crimped ends with Cat5e socket plates. It did a great job. Really easy and great connections. Out of 20 connections I had 2 fails and only single pair on each. A lot quicker and effective than crimping ends. Not sure I'll use it much more than this, but at that price I can keep it and share with friends!

First rate Krone tool at a great price.
First rate Krone tool at a great price. This makes terminating phone and Ethernet sockets so much easier than using the plastic thing that sometimes comes in the socket packs. This tool also has a cutting feature that trims the excess wire as it punches down. Be sure to get the tool the right way round as you punch or you'll cut the wire at the wrong side of the connection and find yourself having to start again. I've done this a couple of times ... it's usually followed by lot of cursing! :)

Trusty tool
If you need to rewire or fit a telephone socket, this tool is just the job, and far more durable than cheap plastic ones. It seems to be built to a last forever: it is very solid. I don't expect to fit telephone sockets very often at all, but even if only once, this tool gives you the best chance of a successful and hassle-free fitting.AA
