Quaker Grits Old Fashioned 680g Pack of 1

I have been living in the UK for 11 years and the only thing I miss from the US is Grits lol There is nothing better then a big bowl of grits with butter and a fried egg on top with a hot buttermilk bisquit. 11 years I have missed that. Being a southerner from the states it was a big thing for me. So to find them on Amazon got me all excited. The price is a bit dear, but to taste a bit of home again was well worth it. For you Brits who may not know what Grits are.....no not for deicing the path lol they are a cereal like oats. Cook them with water and salt. Boil them just like oatmeal and wait for them to thicken. Add butter and cheese or an egg or chopped bacon or sausage or all the above. Very good especially in the winter to warm your bones. You can also add honey or sugar and spice like my daddy did (Yankee but we still loved him dearly) lol

Love! Marked down a star as it was a bit damaged when it arrived, but it was just the packaging and the product itself inside was untouched. Love grits and so happy I can get these in the UK!

Instant grits are not tasty, they are fake grits so always go Old-Fashioned for really good grits. We cook them in the microwave and it's just as good as stove-top but quicker. Always cook more grits than you need, because they firm up when sitting in the fridge for a while, and then these firm grits can be sliced and fried (kind of like pancakes). Very tasty.

My book group had a book in which the poor, poor heroine was made to kneel on grits. I wasn't really with the heroine of the novel, and was actually curious exactly how painful kneeling on grits could be. I bought grits. I knelt on them for a while, I got bored. I mean, as pain goes on my scale of one to ten it registered about a one. For the record an unstable broken wrist I reckoned was about a seven, possibly a six. I mean, it wasn't comfortable, but it wasn't painful (the grits, not the wrist, I did say ouch!).

We love grits! Didn’t realised until after that this was not the quick 5 minute grits but nonetheless I can make do. Already cooked out of it twice. Only thing needed to cook a little longer with more water. By the way we had Creamy Grits and Shrimp.

I'm from the south and having a warm bowl of grits for breakfast is a fond memory of mine. I wanted real, Southern grits with "grits" actually on the packaging and not "polenta" or some other type of ground cornmeal. There is quite a difference in the texture and taste and they are actually from two different kinds of corn. Living in the PNW doesn't make it easy to find actual "grits." Anyhow, these grits are "just like my mama made them" back in Tennessee. I've cooked these several times and you really can't go wrong. Remember: Stir them frequently to avoid lumpiness, add a little carnation milk, butter, a pinch of salt and as much sugar as your little ole southern heart desires and you're good to go!

Grits are a great breakfast meal / side dish. I recommend buying this brand. The grits were tasty. Seller was great. One problem......it's very expensive compared to what I would have paid for it if I were in the USA. They do not sell GRITS here in Canada. I wish they would. Enjoy this Southern dish with fried eggs. You can add cheese to the grits as well for a slightly different flavour.

I purchased this for my family, especially for my mother. It takes about five minutes to prepare and it's ready to serve. I appreciate that it always tastes fresh and there's no need for measurement. Add water, cook, and it's done.

Just to have them in my cupboard! Yummy. Brings me back to my childhood! Just as expected, can't go wrong with grits.
