Learn to sharpen
Everyday usage as a chef only complaint is its hard steel so sharpening is a pain but I love it

Nice to use
I've been through many knifes as I cook every day. I have to say... this one is my favorite. I find myself pulling it from my knife holder over all the other knifes.

This knife is mind blowing gorgeous and is extremely sharp at an amazing value
This knife is mind blowing gorgeous. I don't see many knives with a combination chrome-like surface combined with a polished Tsuchime hammered finish. This knife is very similar to the Shun knives of this similar style, at a fraction of the price while maintaining the same performance. I have owned several of the Shun knives in this style, and they are indistinguishable in their cutting work. The difference comes in the "feel" of the finished knife. This one feels a little more raw in the handle and where the handle meets the blade, and isn't quite as comfortable to use for long periods of time. The look of this blade is impressive though, and if you put this in a glass case it would pass for a knife that costs hundreds of dollars.Performance wise, it easily passes the tomato test; meaning I can push a little into the tomato skin and the knife will just cut through another half inch or so just on its own weight. It will cut. But I also couldn't see myself using this for hours like I do my main knives. The balance of the blade can be seen in the photo of it resting on my finger, fairly blade-heavy, and the other photo with my hand closed in on the blade shows the cutting grip you take. This gives you more power, but less finesse. That's fine because this is a Chef's knife, and can be used as such. The cutting motion for this blade leans toward a rocking Western or Gyuto style, which is good for people who like using a Western cutting style but want the look of a cool Japanese blade (and this blade looks hella cool). If I were cooking for a date at home, I'd use this knife because it has so much rizz. But if I were in a commercial kitchen I'd use something else. Also at the price, you just can't beat this knife for the quality of blade you get. I'd even consider taking the handle apart and re-handling it with something nicer, because the blade itself is so nice.

Knives are important
When you work in the culinary industry, knives can be a very important thing in your daily task ritual. As we all know, working with a dull knife is much more dangerous than working with a sharp knife and this knife comes nice and razor sharp. Would highly recommend if you want to have a little bit of extra flare in the design of your knife now. Whether I can say it is Damascus steal or not, I cannot but it does look like it and it's not resting so five stars

1 Year Update! Still going strong!
6-month update: she's still going strong and has maintained a good sharp edge with simple honing once every 5-7 uses.1-year update: This knife continues to impress me and continues to be my favorite knife in the kitchen. It's been a year and the new price is a bit higher now at $67 and I feel like its still worth every penny. The blade continues to hold it's edge with simple honing and a little beeswax on the handle once a month or so has kept this knife looking brand new. I highly recommend this knife. My original review is below.I'm a big fan of Santoku knives and own 3 currently. The $120 7" Dalstrong Valhalla, this $50 7" Sunnecko, and the $30 Linoroso 6". Let me be absolutely crystal clear, I prefer this $50 7" Sunnecko Santoku over my $120 Dalstrong Valhalla all day long and twice on Sunday! Why? It's better balanced, feels more refined in the hand, and looks stunning. The $120 Dalstrong looks cool but its an awful design and extremely handle heavy while this Sunnecko at less than half the price is damn near perfectly center balanced which brings a ton of confidence when handeling the knife. Compared to the $30 Linoroso the $50 Sunnecko is still superior but if you can't afford it then the Linoroso while not on the same level is a great 6" Santoku. What I like:-fantastic fit & finish.-beautfiul olivewood handle, blade, and comfortable design.what I don't like:-the serial number seems out of place. What to keep in mind:-Yes its sharp, all new knives are sharp but you MUST maintain them.-No you should NOT put it in the dishwasher.-Yes you should dry it immidiately after washing it.-No you should NOT let it sit in your sink for hours because you're lazy.TLDR: a great santoku for those than understand you get what you pay for.

Looks over function
This blade will not hold an edge. While beautiful in its form, it lacks the function to do what I need it to do. Requires sharpening after every few days of use. Mind you, I’m cutting fruits and cheeses, not meat, or anything that should dull it faster.

High quality chef's knive - super sharp
As someone who has ordered a lot of budget/lower-tier knives, this was my first knife at a higher, more mid-tier level. While it's probably not the same quality as a professional chef would use, it's easily the highest quality chef's knife I've ever had as a amateur home cook, who appreciates a high quality knife. The octagonal wood handle takes a little longer to get used to, but ultimately this knife feels good in your hands and has a pretty good weight as well, maybe not exactly truly even, but not uncomfortable. As for the blade itself - super sharp, very high quality steel blade, it comes with a microfiber cloth to clean the blade, and it has ridges along the blade sides. This may be the sharpest knife I've ever purchased, out of the box, and I think this will make a great daily use for precise and quick cuts when prepping and cooking.

The media could not be loaded. Grazie
