#1 dry food must to have
The Emergency Food Ration Bars (1 Pack) are a reliable option for survival situations or emergency preparedness. They are compact, lightweight, and easy to store, making them ideal for keeping in emergency kits, cars, or backpacks. The bars have a decent taste, slightly sweet and not overly dry, which makes them more palatable compared to other survival rations. Each pack provides enough calories to sustain energy levels during emergencies. They also have a long shelf life, giving peace of mind for long-term storage. Overall, a solid choice for anyone preparing for unexpected situations.

Good flavor - BDH needs to sell a Taste Test set
Great taste, a little dry as is all of the 'Survival Nutrition' bars we've tried. Re: The small Tin with 6 bars. The tin itself is Cheap & poorly made. The seam came apart in shipping and it's useless now. Even if it had stayed together, it's very thin and only good for sitting on a shelf as rodent proofing. Note: Supplier (BDH) needs to sell a 'Taste Trial' set/kit. So far, we've tried the "Original" (which may also be called 'Milk'?) and the "Wheat" which are both great. We'd like to try some of the many other flavors but can't find many flavors in a single package size and don't want to order 6+ packages only to find out we don't like the taste. DBH should sell a Taste Test Set with one package of each flavor so people can try them and decide which they want to order a larger quantity of. (Original, Milk, Coffee, Young Sprout (Crops Flavor?), Peanut Butter, 'Salty' (Salt & Pepper?), Multi-Vitamin, Chocolate, Lion's Mane Mushroom and ???)

Interesting - a mild, savory shortbread cookie - priced to try
I purchased these purely out of curiosity - for a long time I've been wondering when someone would create a truly generic "nutrient bar". Something like Soylent in sold form; sort of bland and enriching, without any conspicuous flavor. These seemed like a promising candidate. Honestly, they are close. They are not a nutrient bar by any stretch - these are pretty much all about the energy needed to survive. I wouldn't want these as a meal replacement bar. However, I think they'd make a great quick energy bar while hiking, backup meal for my laptop bag, or an emergency ration bar for my car, the sort to keep you going in a difficult situation. In flavor, as others have said they are basically a shortbread cookie, a blander, milder, drier, somewhat crumbly shortbread cookie. However, they have a mild savory undertone - so a shortbread cookie made with beef tallow or ghee or something like that. They are modestly sweet. I think they could have used a little bit of salt, maybe to turn up the savoriness just a hair, to make it easier to survive on these for more than 24 hours. They are dry and crumbly, but surprisingly I didn't find myself parched when eating one - I could easily eat it without any liquid, though I'd probably want some after the fact. Easy to bite into, chew, and swallow, but durable enough that they don't just dissolve on contact with your fingers, they only break up once you bite into them. In terms of digestion; I have had no issues after two bars, and a family member reports the same after one bar. I didn't feel bloated, and felt no discomfort otherwise, it didn't interfere with anything. I did feel satiated - really satiated after eating one, but the family member did not report the same. They may have been more active than I was that day. I was wary about trying Chinese ration bars, and will try to find an equivalent bar made in the US, but so far these are fine. I would prefer to find some which are individually vacuum sealed; these come 4x to a vacuum sealed pack, which is enough for a day's energy at 400 kiloCal per, but that doesn't really work if you just need one in the midst of a hard hike. The vacuum-sealed pack was very durable and felt tough and secure. The bars are individually wrapped in a clear plastic envelope, which is about enough to keep the water and dust off them and keep them separable from each other. The price is too high. You can get these bars (individual, not four-pack) for about $0.60 apiece through other suppliers. If you want to actually store these for emergency rations for yourself or your family, I would recommend going with a different route. However, if you just want to try a pack to see how they taste, this is fine. Broadly; would recommend for short-term, non-critical emergency rations. Maybe they would be suitable also for critical need, but I don't know enough about them to say one way or the other. I would not go with these for my emergency food reserves at the house, there I'd keep canned goods and self-stable foods instead.

We liked it.
1. Great packaging. Outer layer is vacuum sealed foil. Inner layer has four (4) individually wrapped bars. 2. Knife needed to break seal on outer layer. 3. Bars were not stuck together like other emergency bars I've tried. 4. Bar was easy to break by hand. 5. Not overly crumbly. 6. Easy to bite. I didn't fear I would chip a tooth while taking a bite. Didn't need excessive bite force either. 7. My son (11y/o) and I both enjoyed the flavor. This is by far the best tasting emergency bar of the four(4) different brands we've tried in the last 2 days. 8. No bad after taste. Like a shortbread cookie. Very light lemon flavor and coconut flavor. Very light. Neutral smell upon opening. Of all the bars we've tried this was the ONLY bar we actually fully consumed. 9. Small enough to easily fit in emergency bags. 10. Didn't taste sugary. 12g per bar. 11. Package dated for 12/1/2045. We tried one upon arrival so I cannot speak to shelf life after 20 years. Lol. 12. For people that need to know package contains wheat, milk, & soybean. See photo of ingredient list. 13. It has been 30 minutes since eating and stomach feels fine so far. No gas or bloating. I don't have any allergies to speak of so no surprise there. 14. Cut with knife to check for crumbly-ness. Passed. 15. Photo of size next to my eyeglasses for reference. 16. Overall 5/5. No complaints.

Exactly what it needs to be
Not delicious. Not exceptional. But it delivers complete nutrition in a durable, easily digestible compact package.

Not the greatest flavor
This is awesome for the energy these bars provide, but they are super bland. If I can put some peanut butter on them, maybe I could eat the whole bar. Great otherwise.

Pleasantly surprised by this
Now sheer curiosity had me order the 1 box with the metal foil and i was surpised to find 4 bars backed in plastic. i was only expecting 2. now i went into this with low expectations like how can this really taste. smelled pleasant enough and was not off putting hard to break with a utensile but flakes in your mouth when you bite on it so relatively easy to chew. just sweet enough and slightly salty to give you what you need and with a vitamin taste the more you chew and these tastes all mix both my wife and i came away looking stunned and agreed that its not bad. this is not gourmet by any means its designed and compressed for a purpose but keeping that in mind these are enjoyable i will probably finish the other 3 when i want something to much on but cant be bothered to actually cook something. also really enjoyed breaking one up and mixing it in a glass of milk like i enjoyed that alot more then i expected. it thickened the milk up and if i had put more then just a small piece it probably could have made a shake out of it. i will probably pick up a few more of these for my cars for emergency food and camping or maybe just a really bad day stuck in traffic and hangry. Definitely servicable and im happy i tried it.
