LupinePetOriginals 1/2" Tail Feathers 6-foot Padded Handle Leash for Small Pets

I have a small 20 lb chihuahua/dachshund mix. During our first walk with this leash, she was leaning to the side that the leash was resting on like it was bothering her. She also walked slower than usual. I think the 1” leash was too heavy for her. The clasp is very heavy. I’d recommend small dogs get the 1/2” width. Quality is very good. But it is NON-RETURNABLE so buy at your own risk

The media could not be loaded.  Might as well write this third review of the third LupinePet Original products that I purchased through Amazon. The breeder of my young Cairn Terrier recommended the brand when I picked up my puppy from her several months ago. Now my boy is six months old, and the puppy collar the breeder sent him home with is long outgrown and this new set of duds is his daily wear. The puppy collar was not damaged by the sharp teeth of the pup, nor is the new Tail Feathers design showing wear either. He wears the collar most of the time, the harness when we go on walks or to the vet, and the leash in the usual fashion. He also likes to drag the leash through the house when he wants to go for a walk or play outdoors. The 6 foot length of leash is good for our neighborhood. And the products are safely made so they have not failed when we are out and traffic passes nearby. He is such a smart boy, already he knows I expect him to stop and sit when we have a vehicle pass us. But, if seeing is believing, I have a couple of pictures you might like to see, of the leash in action. I really like it. I like the harness too, since I get confused sorting out many harness designs, and know I must have put them on backwards on occasion....but this time I think I get it right ALL the time! I recommend the LupinePet Original products for smaller dogs, since I have NO experience with large dogs. However, I'm learning that a small terrier can tear up a lot if he feels like it!

Like that this leash matches the collar purchased, but also the sturdiness for such a lightweight leash.

I buy lupine leashes and leads for my dogs, the quality, colors, and life time warranty makes it a no -brainer.It should be noted that the warranty includes if the dog chews it up, and markmanship/material quality, but not if it wears out from regular use.The only complaint I have about the collars is I wished they offered a wider leash/collar; the widest is 1" the thinnest is 1/4." Some dogs just look better with a 2, 3, or 4" wide collar in my opinion.Otherwise the colors, patterns, and materials are the gold standard, the linkage and clasps are well made and although they have done away with the old easy clasps I would not even consider other makers since I've had such quality products made by lupine.Hope this helps

I have an 18 inch leash I use regularly and have grown to prefer. As long as I keep my dog moving, the 18 inch works well for brisk walks but it is definitely short. I purchased this to have something a little longer to provide the dog with a little extra freedom, especially if she has to use the bathroom while we are out. I have not purchased a Lupine product before but it seems to be well made. I do want to point out that the design is only on one side of the leash (you can tell in the loop of the leash in the picture) and the clip is not the traditional kind where you pull down on the part connected to the spring to open it. Instead, you push the metal connection in, not down. It can make it a little complicated to get off since the interior space becomes more confined to allow that little part to come in. Taking it off is not something you can do with one hand. The length is a little awkward, it allows the dog to get just a little further away so they are not right next to you, something you want to have on a walk. If you are going to be walking more leisurely and still want to keep the dog near you but let it smell the ground from time to time or get a little further away, or if your dog doesn't pull on a walk I think this is a good product.

I really like this and it's a great company. They guarantee their products even if chewed. I have another leash from Lupine from when my dog was much smaller that got chewed up. I still need to contact them, but their website seems like that process should be pretty simple. I liked it enough to buy another one. I have the whole set. Leash, collar, harness. I get TONS of COMPLIMENTS on this peacock print. I've lost count of how many. Everyone seems to go Gaga over this print and wants to know where I got it. Or I run into other people walking their dogs in my neighborhood and they remember my dog despite all of her changes through puppyhood because of this peacock print. My puppies first collar was the smaller one by lupine in peacock print and as she grew I replaced it with the larger size. Have had no problems with the quality. I am just over 5 feet tall and walk my Labrador. The 4 foot leash is ideal for me. It doesn't drag and gives me better control over my small moose.. err large puppy because of it being a bit shorter.

A really pretty leash, bright and cheerful. You won't see another one like it on your walks! I own several of their leashes and prefer them over any other brand I have used. The handles are comfortable and sturdy and you cannot beat the clip they use on all their leashes, Super easy to clip on to the collar and they don't get gunked up with sand etc. Lupine is such a great company, making all their gear themselves and are a company well worth supporting. Good quality and good prices.

The handle is very comfortable in my hand and where the handle joins with the leash you can easily attach a poop bag dispenser! Works great with my 13 lb pup and she get lots of compliments on it!

I originally started to get lupine products when my dog was young and would chew through his leashes (guaranteed replacements for life!). Now I'm so comfortable with the feel that now we are just collecting the patterns. I match up the leashes with the martingale style collars.
