Vikings: Season 3 [Blu-ray + UV Copy]

Ragnar Lothbrok is now the King of Kattegat, ruling over a host of lesser earls. He has also forged a strong alliance with King Ecbert of Wessex, enjoying more power and influence than any Viking king before him. Aware that his people still yearn for conquest and raids, Ragnar turns to his loyal Christian friend and advisor Athelstan, who tells him tales of a fabled city to the south called Paris. Ragnar becomes obsessed with tales of this city and soon has marshalled the might of the Viking nation against it. But his obsession comes at a very high cost.The third season of Vikings does not hang around. Having chronicled the (allegedly) reluctant rise to power of Ragnar Lothbrok over two previous seasons and nineteen episodes, the third season asks a more interesting question: what is he going to do with that power now he has it? We know that Ragnar wants to be more than a brute and a warmonger, he wants to be a statesman, a builder and a farmer, the man who brings his people out of their rocky homeland to a warmer place where the soil is better. But he is also not a fool, and knows his people still like to raid and to fight.The result of this is a clever two-pronged strategy. Invoking the alliance forged with Ecbert last year, he plans to set up a Viking colony in Wessex. He also plans to appease his more combat-hungry troops by mounting an assault on Paris and carrying off its immense wealth. It's a clever plan which, you'll be shocked to hear, doesn't entirely pan out.This season sees Viking at its most expansive. There's scenes in Kattegat, several other Scandinavian locations, Wessex, Mercia and in Paris. As well as Ragnar and his extended family and allies, there's also the royal families in Wessex and Mercia to deal with, and a whole new cast of characters in Paris to get to know, including the weak-willed King Charles the Simple, the more formidable Count Odo and the strong-willed Princess Gisla. The rising scale is handled well by the show. The producers deftly interleave a whole series of complex storylines (including a subplot where a very strange man shows up in Kattegat and causes chaos) with verve and skill.The show also continues to comment on larger-scale historical forces, religion and culture through some very personal character stories. There's the ongoing religious turmoil of Athelstan (and Ragnar's fascination with Christianity) and how this interacts with Floki's growing anger that the threat posed by Christianity to the Norse way of life is being ignored. There's Ecbert's ongoing clash between his acceptance of other cultures (there's a terrific and cynically honest exchange between him and Ragnar) but knowing that his priests and lords will not accept many concessions to the heathens.The result is a rich tapestry of a show, with more going on than just the endless cycle of betrayal and counter-betrayal in the previous season. The last few episodes of the season then take things to the next level by depicting the full-scale Siege of Paris in all its glory. With lengthy, massive battle sequences that easily match anything in Game of Thrones, this season sees Vikings gain a scope and epic reach to match its already-impressive character work.Season 3 of Vikings (*****) sees an already-impressive show become even better: grander, more epic, more brutal but also more human, more intimate and smarter.

This series of the Vikings, is just as intense, and compulsive viewing as the first two series'There's just as much character development, violence, betrayal, and treachery in this, as ever,A lot of this series, is focused on Ragnar Lothebrok's obsession with taking the great city of Paris (In 9th century)only this time,it's not so easy as knocking on the door, as the french are well prepared for a siege...The locations, and battle scenes, are consistently great, and very enjoyable... And the title song isalways cool to listen too... But this series explores the true difficulties, that the Vikings faced, whilst extending their empire building...All in all, an excellent programme, and probably the best thing on T.V along with Game of Thrones...

I found season 1 a bit slow,then i watched season 2 and changed my opinion! Season 3 just got better.It is now one of my favourite shows!Ragnar is tough,loyal,fearsome and loving!The whole story is awesome,now to buy season 4 and watch it before season 5 is broadcast.!

I think it's fantastic. It might not be the most historically accurate thing ever but it did prompt me to find out more about Vikings so I've been doing a lot of reading which has helped with some of the more intricate details of the series that you only notice is happening with a little background knowledge. For example why weapons/tools are left near swamps and rivers as you see happen a few times over the course of the three series.I can't explain just how much I love watching this. It's had very little fanfare and I think it deserves more because I would put this up there with Game of Thrones.Beautiful locations, great production values and some good acting make for a very watch-able series.

This show just keeps on getting better and better with each series! Again thanks to Amazon for releasing each episode hours after the US broadcast. If this wasn't happening I just know I'd see spoilers online! It means that fans here in the UK can join in on the shows FB discussion on each episode which is great fun. The characters are still developing brilliantly and the sets and costumes are fab. The hairstyles are great too! I think sometimes the 'true' chronology is played with as is adherence to the sagas, but there is so much we don't know for sure that I believe that getting at and revealing the heart of the viking culture is far more important and that is what this show succeeds in doing wonderfully. Thank you!

It was a gift for my daughter who had watched the series on Prime...she wanted to have the Blu-rays in her collection. She loved it!

These series of the Vikings never disappoints. it is so engrossing the whole way through.Super acting, scenes costumes and story as usual.Had these watched in 2 two... late nights as it is just one of those series where you have to know what happens next.Ended on such a cliffhanger,,,,eeekkkk,,,, roll on series 4.This series has it all. A pleasure and joy to watch.Do not miss it.

This programme and "The Last Kingdom" really puts flesh on the bones of history, The blood and gore of up close and personal fighting is to be expected but the ebb and flow of intrigue, betrayal and royal ambition continued down the ages. If the film is reasonably accurate the energy and industry of our ancestors is to marvel at, it led us to where we are today in these northern latitudes. I liked these stories , I found them stirring and in many ways, how we used ingenuity and hard work to combat our enemies whilst improving our circumstance. Farmers became warriors, warriors became leaders and nation builders as we worked and fought our way out of the Dark Ages. More films like this please,

Si vous acheté cette saison 3 c'est que vous connaissez Vikings donc pas la peine d'argumenter sur la magnificence de cette série !Le plus important serait de parler technique: import anglais.Pas d’inquiétude a avoir il y a bien le français et pas seulement en sous titrage!Vous pourrez donc profiter de votre série en VF sans problème

Ottimo! Arrivato dopo pochi giorni... splendido cofanetto con presente la LINGUA ITALIANA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Perfetto anche perchè in Italia era uscito solo il blu ray della prima stagione.... Come la seconda anche la terza presenta la lingua italiana nel blu ray anche se non è riportata sul prodotto..Da acquistare subito... per tutti gli appasionati!

Nachdem Staffel 1 + 2 der absolute Knaller waren, schwächelt Season 3 in der Story zwar ganz leicht, dies wird mich allerdings nicht daran hindern, auch die restlichen Staffeln zu "verschlingen". Die Serie lebt von ihren charismatischen Darstellern, insbesondere Rollo, Floki, Lagertha und Aslaug sind meiner Ansicht nach absolut top besetzt. Sicher, die hier schon öfter bemängelte Detailgenauigkeit ist hier und da nicht ganz gegeben, aber Leute: Es ist ein Film, keine Wikinger-Doku! Auch in dieser Staffel gibt es wunderbare Sets, tolle Kostüme und Frisuren, blutige Schlachten (Gewaltfreiheit war schwer zu realisieren ;-)), Intrigen und jaaa - auch Sex (OMG!). Insbesondere die Szenen und Requisiten beim Versuch der Wikinger, Paris zu erobern, finde ich Weltklasse. Michael Hirst als Regisseur und auch die Stuntmen haben wirklich alles gegeben. Allen Fans dieser genialen Serie sei gesagt: Kauft auch diese Staffel, es lohnt sich definitiv!

Ottimo cofanetto completo di lingua italiana MultiCh DTS, sottotitoli italiani e menù italiano, anche se la custodia riporta solo tedesco e inglese.Continuo così ad acquistare Vikings dalla Fox tedesca ... mah.Soddisfatto del prodotto, un po' meno il dover acquistare dalla Germania un blu ray "non venduto" in Italia.

This is a brilliant series and very well acted, despite some playing around with history and some unbelievable errors (e.g. the steering board on ships mounted to port rather than starboard). The most annoying feature is the nigh impossibility to select individual episodes. It is ,more practical to select "Play all" and fast-forward. But having said that, I am really enjoying the series.

Stufo di aspettare le versione italiana ho deciso di prendere la versione inglese, che ha il vantaggio di essere blue ray-Le lingue comprese sono inglese, francese, spagnolo castigliano, portoghese. CI sono sottotitoli, oltre che nelle citate lingue, anche in tutte le lingue scandinave. Niente italiano, ma non è un problema per me, anche perché l'inglese parlato dagli attori è comprensibilissimo, a differenza di molte altre serie Tv (il motivo non lo so, forse perché ci sono pochi attori americani? forse...)Ci sono svariati speciali, oltre a qualche scena tagliata (poca roba) o alternativa, tre gli altri speciali spicca l'athelstan journal, che poi è una specie di riassunto, peraltro utile, delle stagioni precedenti. Interessanti gli speciali sulla mitologia vikinga e i dietro alle quinte, anche i documentari storici ed il commento agli episodi sono interessanti. Ottima la resa video ed audio.Quello che mi ha fatto dare un voto in meno è la trama di questa terza stagione, che reputo inferiore alle due precedenti, abbstanza nettamente. Le prime 5 puntate soffrono di troppa lentezza e propongono poco o nulla dal punto di vista della trama. Sopratutto la parte "sassone" è deludente.Alcuni personaggi, in particolare la principessa di Mercia ed il fratello della stessa, appaiono risibili e veramente malscritti. Lei, già descritta come una assatanata sessuale nella stagione precedente, emerge come la vittima di abusi sessuali da parte dello zio e del fratello, che però ama tranne poi avvelenarlo senza pietà (sic) :nonostante i traumi ci prova con tutti, pure con Lagertha, che purtroppo non la colpisce con una ascia come avrebbe potuto, ma si limita ad andarsene. Ancora peggio il fratello che sembra arrivato direttamente da The Big Bang theory. Anche la storiella d'amore fra il re Ecbert e Lagertha sembra buttata lì a caso, più sensata quella fra Athelstan e la principessina sassone. Meglio la parte in norvegia, dove un misterioso vagabondo fa il suo ingresso nel villaggio portando cambiamenti.Bellissima la scena del lago. Con il ritorno dei vikinghi in patria la vicenda riprende fiato, Floki ed Athelstan arrivano alla resa dei conti (definitiva?) Ragnar scopre il tradimento di Auslag e Lagertha quella del suo vice. Ma la storia ha una impennata vera sola nelle ultime 4 puntate, con l'assedio di Parigi, dove vengono introdotti nuovi personaggi (questa volta i Franchi) e soprattutto dove el scene di azione tornano ad essere degne di note. Magnifiche le scene d'assedio e la ricostruzione storica di Parigi, e di nuovo rivediamo i vikinghi che abbiamo amato nelle prime due stagioni e che si erano un po' "imborghesiti" nelle lande anglosassoni. Spero che la prossima stagione ricalchi il finale di questa. Insomma c'è il peggio ma anche il meglio di Vikings. E' comunque una serie che vale la pena seguire

Nach den ersten beiden Staffeln war die Spannung bei Staffel drei ebenfalls sehr groß. Zu meiner Freude wurde ich aber nicht enttäuscht, die Serie Knopf genau da an wo die zweite Staffel aufgehört hat, spannend und stets von Intrigen geleitet

Die Fortsetzung der großartigen Serie um den Wikingerkönig Ragnar Lodbrok läßt nichts an Spannung, Abenteuer, Einfallsreichtum und Ausstattung zu Wünschen übrig. Dies ist eine der besten historischen Filmreihen, die ich in den vergangenen 30 Jahren gesehen habe. Vor allem die authentische Ausstattung sowohl der Protagonisten wie die der Siedlungen, Schiffe, Waffen und Werkzeuge haben mich überzeugt. Ich bin von der Serie Vikings einfach nur begeistert.

Die 3 Staffel wurde meinem Freund zu Weihnachten geschenkt, damit er seine Sammlung von vikings vervollkommnen kann. Er hat sich sehr gefreut, auch wenn es nicht soooo viel Bonusmaterial dazu gab.

Kannte die komplette Serie aus amazon Prime konnte, nicht genug von dieser Serie bekommen habe jetzt alle Staffeln gekauft schaue gerade die 4 Staffel Punkt 2 , die ist auch wieder der Hammer und ich werde diese auch kaufen weil mit einer der besten Serien.Nur Sons of Anarchy.

Auch die Staffel 3 der Viking Setiet ist ein spannender Teil dieser Saga, ich freue mich auf weitere Filme, wie es weiter geht

Mitunter einer der besten Serien jemals. Preis Leistung stimmen. Geniale Schauspieler. Keine Episode die langweilig ist. Absolut Top.

Vikings Staffel 3 war ebenfalls gut. Im Vergleich zu Staffel 1 und 2 finde ich diese etwas schwächer.Irgendwie kommen mir manchen Charakter etwas verweichlicht vor. Wo ist der gute alte Rollo?!Aber nichts desto trotz ist sie wieder gut und es macht Spaß auch die 3.Staffel zu sehen.

Ich bin sehr zufrieden. Klare Kaufempfehlung!Vielen Dank für die schnelle Lieferung.
