My problem was to digitilise a collection of some 8000 slides accumulated during a lifetime in Kenya that I wish to pass on to my children in a compact form. I still have some 2000 slides to go!! Thanks to Reflecta this will now be possible - it warrants 5 stars because it does exactly what the PF3650 did. You need to install a new scanner driver, then update Cyberview to v5. Oh yes, and all the picture processing (eg ICE) has been changed from ROC, GEM etc. It is pre-installed in the scanner, not on your PC, so no chance of any updates ! Installation guide says that this is optional if you already have an alternative. as we already have Adobe Elements 13 then we opted to instal just the driver. Mistake as when this was done neither scanner or Adobe Elements 13 would work, even when we completely reloaded Adobe.Deinstalled 13 and installed 12 and reinstalled the driver. Persistant connectivity problems. I used to use a Nikon Coolscan, which is still in a box somewhere (complete with SCSI interface).Anyway, I was a bit concerned by the software issues that some Mac users have been encountering with this scanner, so thought I'd add a comment about my recent experience.I went and downloaded the Cyberview X software before I installed the scanner - 2011 quad core iMac running Lion - and had no problem updating the drivers. I didn't need to use the PC workaround mentioned by another user, so I guess Cyberview has been updated. (I didn't use the supplied CDs, except for Photoshop Elements 8.)I also bought VueScan online (about £25) and it is Lion compatible, and drives the scanner fine - although for some reason it thinks it's the old 3600dpi version. Not a problem though, because apparently 3600dpi is the scanner's maximum real resolution anyway.Scan quality is really, really good: much better than my old Coolscan (which was about 2680dpi from memory.)As others have said it's a slow process, but I'm really impressed. Leider erzeugte dieser auf ca. 75 % Höhe Streifen und Details waren nur sehr grob wiedergeben.Nun zum Reflecta: Wir haben die Installation unter Win 7 64 Bit hinbekommen. Erste Scans sind sehr detailreich und sehr fein.Trotzdem ist eine Bildbearbeitung bei jedem Scan unter dem mitgelieferten Adobe Photoshop Elements 9 notwendig.Die gesamte Arbeitsgeschwindigkeit ist langsam. Das Einlegen jedes einzelnen Positiv und Negativ ist zeitaufwendig.Was allerdings dann wirklich sichtbar besser ist als bei dem Canon ist die Scanqualität. Gerade aus hochwertigen Negativen (bei uns z. B. OM 2 und dann Minolta) sind die Ergebnisse sehr gut. Wir werden weiter berichten.Wir haben die hardwarebasierte Staub- und Schmutzentfernung eingestellt. Die Ergebnisse sind gut. Die Einstellung ist über CyberView X 5 möglich. Für uns liefert dieses Programm ein brauchbarer Werkzeug.Positiv ist, dass man aus unserer Sicht erst einmal keine weitere Software kaufen muss. Es sei auch angemerkt, dass die Qualität der Scans rundum überzeugt, eine Nachbearbeitung soll da kein Problem sein. Insgesamt könnte das Gerät nur schneller und benutzerfreundlicher sein.Update 24.8.13: Es liegen nun reichlich Scanergebnisse vor. Der erste Eindruck hat sich bestätigt, für recht moderates Geld bekommt man sehr gute Ergebnisse und dies ohne Zusatzsoftware. Sinnvoll ist allerdings mit Sicherheit die Anschaffung eines Blasebalg.Update 9/13: Wir haben nun viele hundert Scans abgeschlossen.
