Aiwa - Exos-9 Bluetooth Speaker

I was after a portable Bluetooth speaker that I hoped would deliver Hi-Fi quality audio which I knew would be a big ask. So I spent a few months researching what products were available when I stumbled across the Aiwa website, where I found the "EXOS 9" and with the specs they were offering I was intrigued and so began trawling through reviews and EXOS 9 VS other products etc. To this day I have not found any with a bad word to say!! my mind was set all I needed to do was await the arrival to the UK. Where to start.... The unit came packaged extremely well (three boxes and some packing material). It has a simple and clean design that will fit in just about anywhere and the build quality is excellent (very solid sturdy unit) I went around the speaker with a fine tooth comb, not a mark on it not even a finger print!!. It has good sized rubberised feet that grip surfaces well and the carrying handle has also been rubberised to maintain a good grip. it has built in a clear display and easy to use 5-band graphic equalizer or you could use one of the presets. Once you have un-boxed the speaker you are good to go, it pairs with any Bluetooth device effortlessly! with good connectivity. Now came the real surprise... This is a loud speaker make no mistake but not just loud the quality of sound was full and detailed, for want of a better word "Awesome" this was on factory settings without the use of the graphic equalizer which only enhances what is already a great sound.. The bass pops and thumps without distortion even at high volume and the mids and highs are fantastic, the vocals are so so clear(2 x 1 inch tweet, 2 x 3 inch mids, 1 x 6 1/2 inch sub). I played music across most genres(Rock,Rap,Folk etc etc) each with the clarity of the last. I have owned a selection of portable speakers in the past even a large PA party unit and none came even close to what the EXOS 9 sounds like!! Yes the speaker is slightly more than your average unit but this is NO average speaker. you will not be disappointed!!. The unit even comes with its own rechargeable battery. This is the best bluetooth speaker I have heard for the under the £300 price barrier, and I have owned and listened to quite a few. It comes with the latest firmware 4.58 and supports aptx, aac and sbc codecs, it is also future proof thanks to it's mini USB for future firmware updates.It is very loud but does not distort at max volume, bass you can really feel in your stomach, detailed mids and crisp highs for any genre of music.There are better speakers out there for you perfectionists, but at a much much higher price tag just to hear a gnat break wind, so please do not compare this to high end high res speaker's..But on that note do not underestimate this speaker it is simply fantastic you will not be disappointed even before you start tweaking the 5 band graphic equaliser to suit your own preferences it's so punchy and crisp, the battery life is very good around 9hrs at normal listening levels.It comes to life with a touch screen top panel to adjust EQ and to pair with another Exos-9 speaker to allow true stereo, even though the unit does a good separation job on it's own. I find for best bass efficiency is to place the speaker around 3ft away with its back to a wall to allow the bass port to circulate air efficiently, as recommended by Awai themselves. Awia customer services are fantastic they've put a lot of work and time into this unit and shows from when you first turn it on, you get that wow factor.There is a separate remote control for this unit which I haven't managed to get my hands on as yet, I've seen some on ebay,, but it would have been nice for it to have been included. But that said it's easily controlled with your mobile device ie volume and there is a volume control knob on the front of the unit.My only little grip is it would be nice to have a volume indicator next to the battery level indicator, but it's not a problem and dose not take anything away from this speakers outstanding performance.To round off, this is a speaker that is happy to give aural pleasure blasting 200w max volume outside at a party or just kicking back and listening at low level indoors.This is just a personal opinion of this fantastic speaker but if you're looking for something like this give it a go, if you don't like it send it back, but I don't think the latter will happen.

Ive been looking for a good portable speaker for a very long time now and im very happy to say that i dont need to look any more. Ive found it!! Its not just good either, its truly amazing. Ive owned various different portable speakers over the years and have never really been too happy with them, sure they're portable but they just aint as powerful as id like, especially when played outside (which is the whole point in a portable speaker system right)? Well the Aiwa Exos 9 sounds brilliant outside, no other portable setup ive owned or have come across even comes close to this box. For £300 you cant go wrong either, that's a very reasonable/affordable price for something as good as this. it delivers clear crisp trebles, excellent mid range and a thumping bass that wont distort at its highest volumes, battery lfe is amazing and connectivity is simple, i cannot fault this unit. Its not just great outdoors too, its quite possibly be better than your car or home stereo system. I have already convinced a couple of my friends to get one and im pretty sure there will be many more of them to follow suit as you only need to play something on it and they will be asking where to get one from. All in all a great bit of kit, pros: great price, great sound, great looks, cons: ummm, im struggling, ok yeah... i cant take it past half volume in my little bedroom as its way too loud! I would buy again and probably will as they can be paired and run one unit as a left and one as a right speaker for the ultimate setup. Would i recommend it? I already have and will carry on to do so, so YES!! If your looking for an amazing sounding portable speaker then get this one, you wont be disappointed.
