Measure twice; buy once
There are two very similar Thermos caps on Amazon. The other measures 1.86" at the narrowest point, and this one measures 1.67." Both products are frequently returned, and both descriptions say to measure to avoid purchase errors.I measured by putting scissors in the mouth of my Thermos, positioning the tip at the narrowest point, opening them, pulling them out, and measuring from tip to tip. Based on that measurement, I bought this item. It's perfect.

JUST exactly what I wanted!
we have an old thermos and it seems to work better than the new ones, but the seal was bad. a shame we cannot simply replace the seal, but getting this stopper with the new seal is the next best thing. (ordering a back-up... just in case.)

replacement stopper for 40 oz thermos
Perfect fit; the thermos is beat up, dented from being dropped onto concrete or paved areas but still keeps coffee HOT for hours. I needed a new stopper and this one is 100% perfect.

Great replacement lid.
I bought this replacement lid for a Stanley thermos that I bought 12 years ago and unfortunately it was not the one that worked however, I ended up buying the same identical thermos so now I’ll have a back up.
