Small and delightful
How they do it for the price, I just don't know. A few years ago, I bought a television marked HD ready. When HD Freeview arrived it was an education to realise that the set could reproduce an HD signal through AV inputs but could not decode an rf signal off air. Seems a bit cheap by the set manufacturer unless the exact format of the signal to be decoded hadn't been decided when the set was sold to me. I plugged in my set to box (which had arrived by post in just two days), connected it and switched on. It set itself up sweet as a nut and with the addition of a USB memory stick it became a recorder as well. Considering that there is a casing, power cord and remote control, retailer's and manufacturer's profit and shipping, what's left to pay for for the magic tuner must be very little. With bargain basement priced kit, you always worry that there is the risk that it won't work or won't be compatible with the television to which it is to be connected, meaning disappointment and the mess-about of returns. No problems so far on this count and I would happily commend this unit to anyone. It also allows you to mark unwanted channels for skip so you don't have to put up with shopping channels or worse. Detractors who complain about slightly slow channel change can always pay seven or eight times as much for leading manufacturers' kit, but why would you? With this unit, you get what you pay for and a lot more, including a full one year guarantee.

Picture good but a little unnatural with fast movement
I bought this for its HD capabilities and it's OK for the price. Picture good but a little unnatural with fast movement, eg sports. Recording onto a USB stick was fine (the manual advises against this) but I bought a larger USB disk anyway. Playback of recordings when copied to a computer is better quality, I use a Raspberry Pi which has a graphics accelerator. The default password is hidden away in plain view in the manual at the top of page 20 (000000). I am unable to receive a few channels (BBC News HD, BBC Four HD) which I know are broadcast with lower signal strength from my nearest transmittter (Winter Hill). I do have an external aerial. The EPG is clunky and setting up recordings for more than a day or so in the future is awkward. Basically for the price, and don't forget the need for some kind of recording medium, it's a good recorder of Freeview HD for me.

It works but ...
Simple to set up and picked up lots of channels upon first scan. Connects via HDMI or SCART I did find the EPG a little dated looking and the manual was not that easy to follow. I consider myself technically minded so for me it was not a difficult task to get it working but I am not sure if less technically minded uses would have such luck A couple of times it did not seem to want to power on. It was plugged into a alexa enabled plug that is set to turn off at night. I could only bring it back to life by physically switch everything off at the socket to bring it back to life which is frustrating

Easy to set up
I bought it for the England v Spain final of the Mens Euros. I normally just stream on the internet but I was worried that it would be overrun and, at best, I'd be seeing what happened 60 seconds ago unless I had a live TV signal. I arrived home with it waiting on my doorstep and 5 mins before kickoff. I ripped open the packaging, plugged it into the aerial socket and my 4K monitor (warning: no leads supplied) and it went through the setup, scanning the channels and as soon as it finished it went onto channel 1, which was showing the footie. Unfortunately this device couldn't help with the result of the game but I can't really blame Amazon for that.

Standby not working properly
Standby mode does not work properly. Turn the appliance on test the remote tune it in and ready to go except use the remote to put the appliance into stand by and the next time I come to switch it on using the remote nothing... the same using the standby switch on the front. The only way I could get the appliance back on was to use the on off switch on the back. Update - Remote Control no longer works (yes I have changed the batteries)
