CIVIVI Sokoke Folding Knife, Ray Laconico Pocket Knife for EDC, 3.35" 14C28N Steel Blade Burlap Micarta Handle Thumb Stud Opener Front Flipper Utility Knife C22007-2

As soon as I saw this knife, I knew I was going to like it. Pros: - 14C28N steel in a drop point is a great combination. The grind is thin enough to keep it from bogging down in cardboard, but still strong enough for medium duty work. - Handle ergonomics are very comfortable. The burlap micarta scales look amazing, and have a great feel to them. - Smooth action for easy deployment. Lockup has so far been solid during normal use. - The thumb studs work as you'd expect. I was surprised at how well the front flipper action was. Even if you're not good with a front flipper flick, you can likely slow-roll it out with little effort. - I find the size to be very comfortable for every day carry. The Sokoke is a regular in my rotation. Cons: - I only have two of them. Overall, it's a quality knife, at a good price!

I know my headline says "for about a Benjamin" and the reason for that is the upgrades to the $65.50 base price. Don't get me wrong this is a great knife as it comes out of the box but I am not a fan of the steel "duck bill" pocket clips that come on these budget Chinese knives and since Civivi offers a milled titanium clip for $13 I always upgrade my Civivi's with them. The other thing I do to all of my knives that have ceramic ball bearings is upgrade to the Skiff brand offerings. As you can see from the picture the cages are a sturdier phosphor bronze with 11 ceramic balls as opposed to the 9 balls in the stamped brass cage, and for about $14 plus shipping from Skiff Industries they give a noticeably smoother action. And speaking of the action this thing fires out with authority. Due to some arthritis in my thumb the front flipper is pretty much useless but the thumb studs work just fine. I guess my only complaint is that there is no relief cut into the micarta to give better access to the liner lock but I think that's a Laconico thing as my other Laconico designed knives all lack that relief cut out. I have read some reviewers who are not fans of the burlap micarta because they said it is too rough. Mine is just fine, and while it's not as smooth as a baby's butt it is by no means "rough". The 14C28N steel if fine for a knife in this price range and a few swipes with a ceramic rod and stropping is all that was necessary to get it hair splitting sharp.

It's so close to perfect. The thing feels in hand like it was made with care. The clip is perfect. The blade steel is a good choice. The blade geometry makes it cut well even when I'm not sharpening as much as I should. The detents are perfect. The fit and finish is perfect. Recessed screws on everything the way it should be. The only thing holding this knife back is the overly space and too smooth gimping. It gives almost no traction when deployed and makes deployment via the front flipper much worse than it should be. It simply defeats the purpose of being a front flipper when the thumb stud is so much better at opening the knife.

Wonderful design by Mr. Laconico. Great design executed by Sencutt. I would gladly pay more for a version with a .5 longer blade that allows me to perform my tasks more efficiently and less effort. An Axis lock or a good button lock would be an improvement also. The liner lock is very good and the blade is centered perfectly when closed. I am in the USAF and I evaluate tools, a knife being a tool I evaluated this knife. A beautiful , well thought out design made this an easy choice to evaluate.This knife is worth every cent as is. I would gladly pay more for this design in an upgraded steel and some length added to the blade. It makes the available for more tasks and lessons the workload, and I am only speaking of making this a 3.75 inch blade instead of a 3.3 inch blade. I will almost always the knife with a longer blade since it is more efficient in almost every respect. It's impossible to go wrong with this knife notwithstanding anything else. Please , Sencutt think of integrating an axis lock or button lock, and a slightly longer blade to what is a near perfect design. I have used and evaluated tools and edged tools for almost 30 years and I see a great deal potential in this beautiful knife. Some knives look great and fall apart at little stress. Some look terrible and would cut an oak log in half. This knife is a winner a stronger lock and a bit more length would make this knife nearly impossible to beat. Overall I give this knife a 9.5 out of 10 on my checklist. This knife needs a 3.5 - 3.75 inch blade for perfection Usually I save this high a rating for Spyderco, Benchmade, or Kizer, but thank you for bringing this knife forward. You did an incredible job but I know you can do better. I've evaluated thousands of edged tools for the military for many years. Put out one for police officers and military personnel. I know you can do it but we need that extra .5 inch. It makes a great deal of difference in using a knife.

I am a knife collector, and let me tell you this straight up: you can't find a $65 knife that is better than this CIVIVI Sokoke, period. The blade geometry, the action, the ergonomic, the aesthetic (mine is natural G10), and blade material (14c28n) are all perfect. This is the #1 knife I recommend to all my friends and family members.

Front flippers are my favorite opening design. I borderline obsess over fidgeting with knives. This one does the trick. Easy opening with the full sized handle, tab is big and prominent so the flip is easy. Makes it flippable with your index finger too which is pretty fidget friendly. The thumb studs are a nice addition, most front flippers seem to not have thumb studs. But I like it, makes the spidey-flick another fidget friendly action. Overall though, Civivi makes solid knives, especially for their price point. I recently figured out Civivi is owned by WeKnife, which makes sense for their solid reliability. Definitely happy with the purchase, I’m tellin people to get it… including you. Update: After the first 24 hours of owning it, the tips of my middle finger nails are hurting, as well as the tips of my thumbs from opening and closing it so many times. I found the line of too much fidgeting. But that’s what I’m here for. The knife is so solid, I love it. I just want to keep messing with it, but I’m gonna switch the dc for a few days to give my fingers a rest. End of my first post still stands though, get it.

Quality product. It takes some practice to open with one hand but perfectly doable
