The most impressive distortion pedal I've ever heard
You'll never need another Distortion Pedal with this baby!Very impressive depth of distortion, this pedal will handle everything from fuzz to growl with no problems at all. Turn on the Boost and the mid and treble frequencies are boosted up,making the distortion crisp and clear whilst still being recognised as Distortion.A sturdy metal Stomp Box, the switches are old-school posts rather than more modern broad pedals, so you will need to wear shoes to avoid hurting your feet but the old-school feel is immense! You can definitely feel the switches activate, and there is an audible click when activated to but it doesn't translate to the amp so your audience won't hear it. They'll certainly hear the effect though!I'll never want another Disotortion pedal, this handles everything I need it to, from 70's style rock to the most bassy Death Core Metal sound, but bear in mind that it's sound will obviously change from amp to amp depending on the amp settings. Keep the pedal settings as they are, though, and tune hte amp to get the sound you're looking for and you're done!

Very versatile pedal, not just for "metal"
Great pedal, my current favourite. Was initially getting this pedal for late 80s 90s metal sounds which I have been able to achieve. (Don't ask me about modern metal as it's passed me by) what I was surprised is that you can get some really nice subtle tones by dialing it right back and play anything like some modern blues.I have the pedal going in clean into a tube amp and it sounds fantastic. There is no need to spend more than this on a distortion pedal. The boost and od on high is a bit ott for my ears but that's minor.Theres also a strange occurrence with the eq when the bass is maxed and the mid is turned right down. There's some weird interference that cuts in when picking the low e string. Tested on another metal muff and it also happened. I can't see me ever having the eq set up in this way so not concerned.Tested with a strat and les Paul, massive difference in terms of results. Not surprising maybe however they are miles apart. Strat you're going to get more fuzz and strat more classic rock tones.

As with many guitarists I am on a constant mission to find the perfect distortion pedal/sound. I wont say Ive found it with this pedal as there are definately functions and sounds I do not like, however it does a good job performing as solid sounding distortion. The Good...This, as with most of EHX pedals, is built to last - strong outer casing and sturdy knobs, you will have a hard time damaging this thing. Ive never been a huge fan of the actual footswitches on EHX pedals though - personally I prefer the BOSS style of switch which is sort of a 'lever', but thats not the pedals fault, thats me being fussy.Knobs - lots of knobs. As most musicians will agree, the ease of use with hardware such as this is crucial to feeling comfortable using it. As a result the amount of knobs may panic some but theres nothing too taxing here. The pedal has more than your average volume/tone/distortion seen in lots of other pedals, and instead splits your tone through bass, treble and mids which gives you much more flexibility with tone. Ive used the pedal in many variations, and I have to be honest my favourite tone (not neccesarily the most practical for what I play though), has to be having the distortion all the way down, the treble not too far behind, throw the bass up and put the mids somewhere in the err... middle, and youve got a deep, warm, rich and heavy sound that Ive been dying to crank out of my gear - its excellent. The Bad...I can only think of one thing that I genuinely do not like about this pedal, and its going to sound mad as its the main selling point of it, and thats the boost switch. My god if I could take back the first time I stomped on that squeeling mess I would. The boost switch adds the all to familiar squeel of 80's 'look how many notes I shred per second' metal and if you're into that this will suit you fine. More than fine really as the boost can be adjusted to your liking, all be it the range seems to be squeeling pig to squeeling cat.And The Muffly...This pedal wont be for everyone - I had my doubts about this purchase and rightly so, the boost switch is not to my liking and I took a risk hoping that the pedal without this function would suit me and overall it does. The cost of this pedal is also appealing and if youve got a few spare quid knocking around after pay day theres no harm in trying this one out.The pedal is definitely meant to be exclusively used by metalheads but don't let that put you off - beneath the name and its tough exterior you can actually get some warmth out of this pedal. I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a different heavy sound - just so long as your prepared to tweak the settings a bit to get there.

"BLACK METAL" Overdrive
Mostly for "Black Metal" flavour!, Evil, ugly & aggressiveSame like:- Darkthrone - Transilvanian Hunger fuzz, of course u can play Groove Metal ( Pantera ), or Thrash ( Slayer ) without using the ( Boost) on the left, or better buy a cheaper one like the Nano.

Metal Muff is great
I love it, I play metal and punk in my band, such a great sound for that sort of thing, the boost for solos is also a really handy feature

Metal tone to make your own
It’s a sturdy pedal with lots of features. Again, it doesn’t suit the tone I pursue but it’s a good pedal for metal players who run smaller amps and want the big beefy overdriven chug. It works well with lower tuned guitars too.

Ottimo pedale. Aggressivo come lo volevo. E con tanto gain.
Perfetto nelle sue performance, soprattutto sui fraseggi. Suono pulito e con il giusto rapporto distorsione e nitidezza di suono.

Amazing pedal
I absolutely love this pedal. It has a thick heavy metal sound that works perfect for any time of metal. The treble boost is pretty sick sounding but not as thick. It’s definitely great for solos. It’s also a very well built and durable pedal. It’s worth the money.
