fascinating reading
If you have ever read an interview of Steve McCurry, you know he is a very interesting person to listen to. His lectures are very much intriguing as well. Given this background (having met him in person as well) I had very high expectations for this book and I must say they are all met. Not only are the images given events and travel diaries to paint an understanding of how they were achieved, the book especially makes you appreciate the lifetime work of one of modern history's most prominent journalists. Highly recommended even if (or should I say especially if) you already have all his photobooks - I do.

Awesome Book
I got this as a birthday present to myself with an Amazon gift card from my cuz. It's an awesome book, BIG coffee table book reading with fantastic photographs and fascinating backstories. I'm still reading through it but I like to take my time.I had this on my wishlist for ages, don't know why I didn't get it sooner. The only minor thing was a couple of the corners had slight dents, probably happened in shipping, this is a big, heavy book but it was just wrapped in the usual Amazon cardboard, but I may just be being picky.

Truly exceptional!
This is a mammoth book by Steve McCurry in every sense of the word. The photographs are breathtaking with an emphasis on India, Afghanistan, Cambodia etc. plus there is plenty of detail about most of the pictures. The book runs to 250 pages plus and is beautifully printed on quality paper plus the layout is top notch - it is an ideal book to have on your coffee table because you'll keep picking it up and seeing something new for years to come. The only possible downside of this book is that most of us will look at this book and realise how small our world is compared to that of Steve McCurry! Strongly recommended.

Review of The Stories Behind the Photographs
Steve McCurry is one of my favourite photographers. Many of his well known images are included in this book along with less well known excellent monochrome shots from his early career. As well as excellent quality reproductions, the book details the stories related to the assignments along with diary notes, letters, background data and a lot of information about the countries Steve visited. This is a photographers book, a visual delight, to be read many times, it is large and quite heavy, with lots of room for shots to be reproduced, the colour balance is also spot on.At the current price this book is a bargain ( £20)

One of the best collections of Steve McCurry's photographs
Steve McCurry has published a wide range of books and if you have room for just one then this book is high on the list to pick. This book covers the stories behind many of his most famous images taken across his career. Included alongside the photographs and detailed storyline are supporting images of some the memorabilia from the assignments. This is physically a large book and the photographic reproduction is very good.If you had to choose just one Steve McCurry book the main choices are this book or "The Iconic Photographs". Although the latter has a wider range of photographs the storylines in this book add extra interest and help bring the pictures to life.

The best book for photography
Untold stories was my 3rd of Mc Curry's books and the the most fun by far.I bought it almost immediately after its release I just couldnt believe that I could read staf behind Mc Currys photos. Most photographers are like magicians they dont want to share the litle secrets behind their photographs in fear to degrade the value of them, so it is very rare (if not imposible) to find a book that gives you so much info and also derives from a photographer of Mc Currys level. If you are a fan of Steves work YOU MUST buy it, it has tons of info and photos and even small little notes that Steve was noting when he was on field 30 years ago, it is also a good guide for someone that wants to be a travel photographer.Steve thank you for this book.

BUY IF THIS IS YOUR FIRST MCCURRY BOOK
THIS IS THE BOOK I SETTLED FOR AFTER LOOKING AT ALL OF THE PREVIOUS PUBLICATIONS.THE PROBLEM WITH MCCURRY BOOKS IS THE REPETITION OF THE SAME PHOTOGRAPHS THROUGHOUT.IT WOULD BE A MISTAKE TO BUY MORE THAN TWO.THE SAME DECEPTION BY THE PUBLISHERS AND AUTHOR OCCUR WITH SALGADO,S BOOKS TOO.A NEW BOOK SHOULD HAVE NEW PHOTOGRAPHS NOT THE CONSTANT RECYCLING OF IMAGES

Quality & Value
This is a stunning book. I was amazed by the sheer size and weight when it arrived. The book is hardback and has been printed with extremely high quality paper that brings McCurry's photographs even more to life. I would recommend this book to anyone with an interest in documentary photography although I believe it would be appreciated by all who are interested in current/past affairs. I would buy it just to look at the photos.

Album foto McCurry
Sono già una fan di Steve McCurry. Bellissimo libro con non solo raccolta foto, ma anche le storie dietro loro. Ho scelto regalarmelo a Natale, comprandolo in inglese in quanto il prezzo era inferiore alla versione italiana.

Wish I could give it six stars
I have many of Steve McCurry's photograph books and have also given them as gifts. To find that through this book he shared the stories behind the photographs, well, it made for a wonderful afternoon of photo viewing. And, as an aside, through an interview on television, he stated that he, due to an accident, could only use one arm to shoot these astonishing photos, made his accomplishments even more special. Highly, highly recommended!!

Incredible and Iconic
An amazing book filled with iconic photographs and stories behind them by the amazing. I got to know abt his photographs through pictures posted in National Geographic and from other blogs. Ya, you can say I am new and this is my first book of Steve McCurry. It was overall a great feeling looking at pictures, turning pages...reading about them... places we have never been to (me for sure) and faces in their natural environment or situations; 30 years or work portrayed in this book, its incredible. I was more curious about the 'The Afghan Girl.' It was most interesting and captivating picture for me. I highly, highly recommend this book.
