KitSound Voice One with Alexa Built-In and Spotify Voice Control Multi-Room Smart Speaker - Grey

I purchased this speaker in a Black Friday promotion - I didn't particularly desire the product or need it but decided to give it a go considering the price reduction. My first impression based solely on the packaging was quite surprising, I remember KitSound going back a few years and how much more premium the product seems just from something as simple as the unboxing experience. Alongside the speaker which was lighter than expected, I found there to be a UK, EU and even a US power adapter, an AUX cable, remote control and user guide. The speaker as mentioned previously is very lightweight but does unfortunately have a plastic kind of feel to it but the design itself is really eye catching and could quite easily compliment any room set up although holds quite a modern design. The remote on the other hand has a weighty feel to it which made the product feel slightly more premium; I was expecting the remote to be similar to the type you receive with a budget sound bar (thin, light, tacky) but was quite the opposite. Setting the speaker up was incredibly easy as KitSound have developed a mobile application for both Android and iOS which walks you through every step and also adds extra functionality for linking in paid for music services such as Spotify, Tidal and Napster but also free services such as TuneIn to listen to radio stations. I have played with the speaker over the last two days or so and find it to be really enjoyable to use. The sound quality is more than adequate although at times the bass was a little much, for most home set ups, not quite on par with the likes of Sonos of which I imagine KitSound are trying to compete with but again this isn't a mainstream brand so to compare directly would be somewhat unfair. Alexa works great although I still think Amazon have some work to compete alongside the likes of Google Assistant with the functionality lacking in some areas but I personally wouldn't use the Alexa functionality for anything more than asking to switch radio stations in which Alexa does well. You can buy up to 8 Voice One speaker and pair them together using the app to sync the content you are playing across your home which is a really nice feature to see on a speaker at the price point they are selling for - although get yourself a bargain and wait till theres a promo on and get two for the RRP of one. Overall the speaker itself does what it should do and pretty well. I would recommend this product quite highly if you are looking for a home sound system and are not looking to break the bank or the likes of Bose and Sonos are just out of your budget.

I've been running a Squeezebox system for about 10 years or so, but slowly the hardware is starting to fail. This was bought as a replacement/combination for the Squeezebox Boom and Echo Dot in the kitchen. First impressions are "nice packaging" and "it's a bit bigger than I expected", however it's not excessive and the volume knob is nice and tactile. I'm pleasantly surprised to say that it can replace the two devices I was using previously. The sound is less bassy than the boom, but it sounds a lot better than the Echo dot by itself so despite being a bit thin for my liking, it's acceptable for the kitchen and can make itself heard above usual kitchen sounds. Setting up the speaker itself was easy with the KitSound app - though there's also a webpage that allows it to be configured when you connect to the setup wifi network. The app (on iOS) allows streaming of your iTunes music collection (though nothing in iCloud) and a few other services. You also use the app to switch Alexa into UK English mode and get the "right" voice back. The speaker contains a WiiMu LinkPlayer implementation and as such has Airplay built in. Supporting Chromecast audio as well might be useful for Android owners. There are three distinct modes of operation "wifi", "bluetooth", "aux in". These have to be manually selected - there's no auto-mixing or dynamic switching. For example, when in aux-in, Alexa is not available. When in wifi mode, you can't connect as a bluetooth client. However, connecting via airplay will switch away from aux-in mode. For more general usage, I think more flexible dynamic switching would be desirable. The lack of Alexa support in aux-in mode broke my first thoughts of Squeezebox integration, however it is a full upnp renderer so it can be added that way, and presumably controlled by other upnp controllers. I can't comment on the Spotify integration since I've not got an account. All in all, it's not a bad piece of kit and it's good enough for the kitchen, I don't think I could recommend it as main audio source but the KitSound Link Multiroom Audio Wireless Enabler with Allplay and Spotify Connect for iOS, Android and PC - Black by the same company might be an interesting companion should I have any more hardware failures.

Great sound but there are some trade offs. The mics are not good enough to hear you every time. I use them paired and there is a delay between Bluetooth video and audio that makes them useless when connected to a tv, phone or tablet etc. Lastly one of my speakers has stopped responding to Alexa requests and started playing a random radio station that I have never listen to before. I have not been able to resolve this yet. Update: Alexa is dead on my speaker. I suspect the chip that enabled this to work has died, not even a factory reset will bring her back. At just two months old this is not acceptable and considering that this was a replacement for a speaker that would not set up, which was a replacement for a speaker that came with cosmetic damage says everything. Kitsounds budget build and poor quality control means this is a product and company to avoid.

I purchased mine in a shop for £50, I did not expect to get the quality I have for the price. This has the 3 functions Wifi (where you use Alexa) then it's a Bluetooth speaker, and lastly a Line in speaker (via Aux input) which I use for a record deck. The good thing is you can have it in any of these modes and Alexa will answer without you having to switch it back. The volume goes high, no distortion and great bass for this size speaker. if you have Amazon Prime with the music you can play anything you have made as a playlist just by asking Alexa or even a single song in your library and I believe Spotify premium does the same. Perfect!

Very disappointed with this product. Reading some reviews I had high expectations however they fell far short. Pros: - Just as a speaker the sound quality is reasonable. For me the bass could be a little more prominant, but that’s being picky. Cons:- 1. The Alexa function is dreadful. I had to repeat commands numerous times to get what I requested, my Amazon Dot gets it right first time almost every time by comparison. 2. The remote control of the first unit I ordered didn’t work at all, so I had to get a replacement and that involved sending the whole speaker and remote etc back as you cannot just get a remote sent. When I had the second unit, the remote worked but as it is on the same frequency as many other smart devices in my house, each time I pressed the remote other devices also changed and I had to isolate the Kitsound from all other smart devices, which was a pain. In addition the performance of the remote was still poor and volume control was hit and miss. 3. The front volume knob has a backlit ring that lights up different colours when performing certain tasks, normally it’s a pale blue however the second unit had some red bleeding through so looked strange. In the end I had enough of this unit and sent it back for a refund. I may try the Echo plus later if the price comes down and they sort out a few of the early launch bugs I’ve heard about.

TLDR: Good speaker for price. Was powered on for 4 years and then became faulty, Has its quirks but brilliant for price :D Had this speaker for around 4 years has a very good and loud audio and would probably sound amazing with 2 speakers connected together although the app and the software side really let this speaker down. I contacted kit sound a few times wondering if there was a way to disable the aux or bluetooth from timing out after inactivity they replied saying it wasn't possible this isn't much of a big deal but just limits the functions and uses for the speaker. The next problem is the stupid audio prompts on start-up along with the unresponsive remote. I did enjoy this speaker while it worked but as shown in the pictures i started having issues with weird popping sounds and hissing sounds at the start they were quite rare and not noticeable but eventually made the speaker unusable I was surprised the thing still powered on and played music. I cant really say if this issue caused some of the issues I had but I eventually had enough of it and smashed it and took the speakers out of it as they are pretty decent.

I purchased one of these speakers for my kitchen to upgrade from a DAB radio , I paid £50 from an Amazon seller which is less than half of the rrp . The sound quality and ease of use is brilliant for the price , you have to download a kitsound app to set it up , but it is very easy . I liked this speaker that much that I purchased a second one for use in another room in my house , the integrated Alexa is very useful and I am very happy with my purchase .

I'm giving this four stars as the sound isn't as crisp as I like, although it IS well balanced and the bass is fine. This criticism mainly applies to playing audio through it using Alexa, through Bluetooth I was able to adjust the sound to get it just right! What I wiould like to say is that I'm surprised that people are saying this speaker is unresponsive,(I read the same thing on the German site) I've found it more responsive than my echo dot (mind you I've only got one echo dot and I've often wondered if there's something wrong with it) I bought the speaker for my bedroom and I have to shout at it a lot less than I did with the echo dot, although I have noticed that as the microphones are on top it responds better if I am not below the unit. Having said that though, if I am lying in bed below the level of the microphone it is less responsive but still nothing like as bad as the dot.. A sharp but not TOO loud command will stir it into action. When I first received it I tried it in my living room and it responded every time even when playing music unless it was turned up to full volume and then a handy led light blinks to tell you that it can't hear you. I can only assume that positioning is important with this unit.and who knows what firmware updates will bring?

We’ve had an Echo Gen1 in our house since January 2015. Our Echo resided in a central location on the main floor and we commanded Alexa all day to add groceries to the shopping list, play music, set timers, schedule events/reminders, turn on/off lights, play trivia, tell jokes, and give us weather/news updates. We truly are taxing on Echo/Alexa and really rely on it/her to help us maintain sanity in our household. [We’re always surprised how pleasant Alexa is when we are so demanding of her.] However, we were ready for an upgrade in sound quality and were looking for an Alexa enabled system that was prettier on the eyes and looked more at home in our home. Hello Voice One! Out of the box; Voice One was easy to set up. Download the app, power up Voice One and follow the instruction in the app. Super easy set up that took about 4 minutes. A well-constructed, easy to use remote came along with Voice One; similar to the remote we got with our Echo Gen1. We like having the remote when we’re entertaining, as you don’t have to shout over people (mostly noisy kids) in order to control the device. Aesthetically, Voice One is less industrial looking that other Alexa enabled speaker systems. Voice One is about the size of a small/medium loaf of sandwich bread. The edges are softer and Voice One is covered with a charcoal gray cloth (per the manufacturer; has a stain-resistant nano coating) which will allow it to sit humbly unnoticed. After signing into my Amazon account, Voice One sync’d easily with my Alexa account. No fuss, no muss. Time for an initial sound check. I asked Alexa to play some Bob Marley. Nice rich bass, smooth mid-tones; very nice on the ears. Not surprising, as Voice One has a dedicated bass port. It certainly makes a difference. James Taylor next… very sharp sound to match the clarity of his vocals. Frankie Goes to Hollywood... volume all the way up… awesome! No distortion and plenty of sound to completely fill 1,200 sq ft of main floor living space. Voice One was too loud for my 8 year old who usually loves the music loud. Voice One’s two opposing 2.5 inch, 10w speaker drivers and bass port spread sound throughout the house with little effort. I asked Alexa to play a Pandora station. No response. Without any troubleshooting on my part, Voice One automatically recognized that a firmware update was in order; even messaging that the firmware update included compatibility with Pandora. 4 minutes later, Voice One had digested the firmware update and played my Pandora station when asked. Apparently Voice One can think for itself too. Imagine that, a smart device that solves its own problems. Nice work KitSound! When we have music playing loud on the Echo, we have to shout in order for Alexa to respond to our beckoning. I was surprised to find that the microphones (only 2 microphones) in Voice One could isolate my voice from the loud music and respond to my voice commands without having to shout. Really nice- my wife says we have enough shouting in our house already. We’ll attribute this to superior quality microphones compared to the 7 microphones contained within Echo. Connecting phones, audio players, etc. to Voice One is no problem- lots of choices here. BlueTooth pairing was simple and easy. It’s nice to have a line-in so when that music buff friend comes over and wants to play THEIR playlist, they can have at it; without having to worry about pairing. We love that there is a USB port on the back which allows us to charge a device while connected to the Voice One. We also use it to keep an extra charge cable available for charging our FitBits. Who couldn’t use another USB port for charging devices anyway? Voice One smart home compatibility is on par with other Alexa enabled devices. Voice One is compatible with the major smart home devices out in the market thus far. I would certainly recommend the Voice One Smart Speaker to friends and family as I am recommending it to you. I was pleasantly surprised by the esthetics, ease of set up, sound quality and extra features designed into the Voice One Smart Speaker.

Mit Vorsicht habe ich einen Lautsprecher bestellt. Der war auch hier auf Amazon sehr günstig. Das Einrichten ist ein Kinderspiel, der Sound ist gut und auch die Alexa arbeitet gut. Dann wollte ich gleich noch einen bestellen, der war aber knapp 30 Euro teuerer. Es gibt ziemlich große Preisspannen bei diesem Gerät. Nach etwas abwarten habe ich noch einen geordert. Die Multiroom-Funktion funktioniert sehr gut. Da habe ich beim Alexa Echo meine Schwierigkeiten, da gibt es leichte Verzögerungen. Wahrscheinlich heißt er deshalb "Echo". Vielleicht schaffe ich mir noch ein paar Lautsprecher an, ist cool wenn man überall Musik hat.

This speaker was really easy to set up and configure right out of the box. Good sound and has some power - I use it with Spotify. If you want to use it as an Alexa device you will need the amazon app on your phone to synch with it. I wish it also had an internal battery for added portability, but that's minor. Overall pleased with my purchase!
