Very earthy it’s great love it !

I bought this cause another brand stopped selling theirs. I bought it about 6 times and the last time I got three packages cause I was happy with the products. Well... these three came in and all three of them smelled of terrible chemicals. It was really revolting. I wash the product before cooking and it did not help. I got my money back.

We have never had millet grain like this before but love rice and couscous and other grains so thought it woukd be fun to try! The package was a bit different than the listing but had clear instructions and details. I decided not to follow the instructions on the package since they have a 2-3hr soaking period - who has time for that? I found a faster cook version online and it seemed to cook it nicely and kiddos liked it mixed with some Parmesan and salt and pepper. It really is a bland taste that you can dress up however you want and mix with whatever you want. At some point I’ll have to try that several hour soaking and compare with the quick method, but seems there are good options if you don’t want to wait forever. The grain is very small and the cooking style will determine the texture. We enjoyed it and will eat it, not sure I would buy it again tho.

All of the millets have an extremely harsh chemical smell. Millets naturally have an earthy smell.. but this smell was beyond that. I noticed the foxtail millets had the most pungent chemical smell. I thought maybe if I washed, soaked and then cooked them that it would help, but it didn’t. I could still smell and also taste the chemicals. I had to throw them out. I will not be purchasing from this brand again.
