Green Lantern Vol. 3: The End (The New 52)

10 years of greatness
It started almost ten years ago with a miniseries entitled "The Rebirth" (bot Johns already knew a lot about the Green Lantern mythos). From that fantastic adventure, Johns never stopped to reimagine, expand and boost the Green Lantern concept, exploring somany possibilities and concepts that it almost blows my mind. The best part of all this is that John's work never disavowed the past: cheap writers just do reboots, but Johns doesn't. He builds on what was before, he draws classic concepts from classic stories to new consequences and evolutions, always with the feeling that his "retcons" are no retcons at all, but simply the logical development of something that was already there. This final book of Johns' run, "The End", is the epic and fitting conclusion to such a fantastic run: in a triumph and a celebration of his willpower, Hal Jordan becomes the greatest member of yet another Corps, the most terrifying and "final" one... and once again he manages to do the impossible, by subduing Nekron to his will. The stake is the entire universe, as usual, and the opponent is the First Lantern, a guy who can tap into the whole emotional spectrum of the entire universe. It's primordial, it's archetypal, it's.... things how they should have always been. The Guardians, the Lanterns, the many Corps, Sinestro-- everything falls into place and everything is acknowledged at some level. And in all this, there's place for a new Earth Lantern: the difficult, potentially controversial character of Simon Baz, who is a great addition to an already great mythos.Last but not least, Doug Mahnke does is usual stellar work on the art chores! Who else could make B'dge a believable character? (Kidding...)

The title is adapt
Yes so this is it, the finale to Geoff Johns's opus of the Green Lanterns. From Rebirth, to the Sinestro Wars, to The Blackest Night, to the War of the Green Lanterns, we are now at the final chapter. Without giving away anything it is a fitting finish to it all, the ending still leaves stories to carry on from this, but Johns has tied up his so called loose ends with this page turning finale. Still full of humorous moments which are blended in with just amazing moments/sequences that keep you reading until the conclusion. Plus in his epilogue, Johns's makes a nice reference to one of DC's most famous scenes. So long Mr Johns, and thanks for all the amazing memories.

Not the greatest villain, but it was the ending the character ...
The grand finale of Geoff John's epic run has come. What an end it was. Not the greatest villain, but it was the ending the character deserved. This book provided me with a jumping off point for the Green Lantern universe.
