When Laura Palmer is found brutally murdered, FBI Special Agent Dale Cooper (Kyle MacLachlan) and Sheriff Harry S. Truman (Michael Ontkean) soon discover that in the town of Twin Peaks no one is innocent and nothing is what it seems. The entire groundbreaking Twin Peaks television series, created by David Lynch and Mark Frost, has been compiled for you to own and relish, taking you deeper into the woods than ever before. Includes Running time: 25hrs 35mins Bonus time: 4hrs 33mins Review: Amazing television - even to someone who doesn't actually watch much of it and at last the whole series in one instead of being split. If you have already seen it or own season 1, the reason to have it is for the whole uninterrupted saga, being eight years between the first season release and this. If you haven't seen it then the series is undoubtedly one of the strangest yet classic television series ever made. The characters are unique and iconic and the Laura Palmer murder storyline compelling and easily surpasses who shot JR. The episodes up to the conclusion of the storyline, which Lynch has said should never have happened but was forced by the network to do, is compelling 'I'll just watch one more' and being able to watch 2-3 at a time uninterrupted is a pleasure. After this it undoubtedly loses its way, with only flashes of excellence in the Windom Earle storyline. It isn't difficult to find praise for the last 3 episodes on the Internet, but for me the second half of the series pales against the first and if it hadn't existed I wouldn't have missed it. The remastered picture quality is excellent played on a bluray with upscale and a 40 inch LCD. Comments on the colour tone by others are lost on me, I am not analysing it that much and it certainly looked good on a screen unlikely to have been envisaged for it to be played on 20 years ago. There are Log Lady introductions that can be played before each episode, which I didn't as they are as cryptic as her character is supposed to be, and various other extras. I am not an extras person and having viewed most of them have not changed my opinion. The deleted scenes are nothing special and other short documentaries and stills galleries are a view once and never again for me. I haven't scored them as I bought it for the series, so standard extras disappointment does not sway my opinion at all. This is the third time I have watched this series in 14 years, from memory only twice all the way through, and I will now put it away for 3-4 years to come back then and start all over again. You may not understand it and sometimes it does get silly, but ignore this and you have one of the best pieces of television ever made. And if you see Fire Walk With Me expect to be more not less confused. Review: And You Thought Lost Was Weird ? - I first watched Twin Peaks when it was originally broadcast back around 1991, I was still at school but always remembered it clearly. Probably the first American drama series I saw and considered to be an influence for many of the dramas that have been produced since. It had everything I enjoyed, strong, layered characters, excellent acting, great music, plots, sub plots and more well plots, to the point where at times I didn't always understand what was going on but it got people talking, created a buzz. It begins with the murder of local female, Laura Palmer. Agent Cooper an FBI agent arrives to take control, aided by the local sheriff Harry Truman. From that moment on, slowly the story unravels drawing you in. Plots begin to unfold, sub plots spring up and a deep, layered story evolves, everything really is not what it seems. There are an array of brilliant characters, well acted, some of the smaller stand outs are the "Log Lady", yes the log does talk, allegedly and "Bob" who is pivotal to the story. There is an air of supernatural, strange force, complete weirdness in and around Twin Peaks, the local woodland an area that locals speak of with trepidation. Sometimes characters will act out or scenes will play out in such a way I was left with a "what the" thought in my head, plain weird but brilliant all the same. The music is excellent, the theme tune is well known but there are other musical pieces that compliment scenes and the story very well. Its well commented that series two doesn't pan out as well as the first, some people say it lost its way, I can understand why, if anything it gets weirder. However all in all it is an enjoyable, stand out series, both of them that still stands out as one of the best ever. In addition to this I have purchased the Secret Diary of Laura Palmer (book) and also the prequel to this boxset, Fire Walk With Me (DVD), both flesh out the life of Laura Palmer and the events leading up to the first episode in this boxset, give you a great understanding of her life. But, watch this first.

A Surreal Masterpiece worth its weight in GOLD!
After all these years I have finally watched the whole of Twin Peaks, and I am glad I waited for this edition (Definitive Gold Box Edition UK Version) is just wonderful. I have never enjoyed a series so much savouring every single minute, not knowing what one was going to see next - pure joy. The sounds almost smells and the haunting music will pervade your dreams, even your waking hours. I was so sad when I reached the end, and envy anyone who will be watching for the first time. The gold box set is packed full of extras and features and one that I will never part with. It is my intention to watch it again at least once a year for the pleasure that it gives the senses. It is a true Masterpiece and I have hunted for similar series, and ones I have found I hope will come up to this standard - they are Veronica Mars - 3 Seasons. Northern Exposure all the Seasons, Wonderfalls 3 seasons, Pushing Daisies One and Two, Dead Like Me and Six Feet Under. Another film related to Twin Peaks Ive yet to watch is Twin Peaks Fire Walk With Me by David Lynch, it looks to be good. I recommend reading reviews and hunting down unusual TV series. So finally if you havnt yet watched Twin Peaks in its true beauty,(remastered form) the quality of filming is perfect, I urge you to do so. Read all the five star reviews. You wont be dissapointed as I certainly havnt been and would be very sad to think that I could have missed the experience of soaking up the atmosphere of Twin Peaks. I personally love the show but i can see why some wouldn't
What a gripping show! The high quality and audio on this makes it seem fresh to when i first watched it, and the extra features are really insightful and offered a lot of new perspective on the characters and intentions of Lynch. Its one of those shows you can watch over and over, which i've never really gotten before, except for comedy shows, so for a drama/thriller thats unique in and of itself. I personally love the show but i can see why some wouldn't, so before purchasing i would either advise watching one of his films or looking at one of his shorts on youtube, as what i've found with people is that you either absolutly love or hate him - and this is pretty much accurate with all of work ( except Dune). Another thing about the show is that it is genuinely compelling is the score, its almost like a parody of the cheap-soaps of the time yet in the context of this its genuinely quite touching. The closest thing i can compare this to is another of his films Muholland Drive - which was infact going to be a tv series, so the same kind of style is true here , except more so as it is infact in that format. But if you like Lynch/you've seen the show before deffinitly get this boxset! Plus i know its not the key feature but the boxset itself is so pretty and glistening so looks awesome!

The Best TV Show Ever Made?
This show is immaculate. As an avid film and TV consumer and maker, I've spent a lot of time watching shows, not just for entertainment, but also for analysis. And I have to say, visiting Twin Peaks is an entirely unique experience. The characters are eccentric in every sense of the word, but never drift into parody. The plots are many and varied, and often very complex. But Frost and Lynch handle their subject matter with such dedication and seriousness that the show never becomes a chore. Each episode is utterly enjoyable, and good news: there's thirty of them. So much happens in each episode, it's the kind of concentrated drama/comedy that most contemporary shows steer clear of (as in, there's no case of: "Okay, here's an interesting concept, can we drag this out for 100 episodes with little content?"). The extras are extensive, and provide a greater insight into this mammoth of a story, as well as some fun pieces. Definitely worth the price, and then some. Care to take a trip to Twin Peaks, the most peaceful little town in America?

Great TV series: David Lynch at his best, for fans and not!
I watched this back in the 90's in Italy and recently bought this box set, I am still amazed of the writing/directing quality of this TV series: the story is catchy, scary, emotional, spooky, and absolutely great all in one, actually 29 episodes! There are two episodes, the first of each season, that last over an hour, the others are around 45 minutes. My girlfriend never saw anything from David Lynch and she's absolutely loving both this and another famous film he made. Display comments: I would recommend to watch this in format 4:3 rather than the more popular 16:9 as people look "larger and smaller" but you get to choose, so point in favor here; The image sometimes appears to loose sharpness, don't know if it's because is an "oldie" but is still very enjoyable! Other good point is the 5.1 surround audio, I can't use it(...) but it's good if you do have more than two speakers! If you like David Lynch's works than you must have this too, good price and the box set is very nice.

Twin Peaks: Definitive Gold Box Edition (UK Version)
The show (5/5) Special agent Dale Cooper (masterfully played by Kyle MacLachlan) leads the investigation of the murder of Laura Palmer, a teen-ager in the small town of Twin Peaks, in which nothing is as it appears... thriller, mystery, horror, romance, drama, comedy: every genre finds its place in this extraordinary and unique piece of television, a must-see (and have) for every tv-series lover. The content (5/5) All the 29 episodes (and also the alternate version of the pilot) with English subtitles. Special features contains a documentary, interviews, deleted scenes, promos, photos and many other gems, making this boxset one of best conceived and rich under this aspect. The package (2/5) 10 discs divided into 5 slim plastic cases, assembled in a double carton box. Some problems here. The smaller carton box is just too big for the plastic cases; they doesn't fit right in, but they `dances' inside of it. Also, both the carton boxes seems too fragile. Treat them well! Another thing that I find unpleasant, is that there is no division whatsoever between the two seasons: first season's end and second season's start are on the same disc. Nevertheless, the boxset represents a great artwork, that fully catches the spirit of the show. ps. I'm not English: I apologize for all kind of errors you were forced to read.
