How do you know that you are authentic?

Authenticity simply means knowing your own internal emotional landscape and being able to communicate that to others. But being authentic doesn't mean we'll be liked. In fact, it could mean we push some people away. But the good news is, those people weren't interested in our authentic self anyway. By being authentic, we start to create a world surrounded by people interested in our truest self.

Installation. What is the best way, poster strips or adhesive spray?

Personally I think it all depends on the surface of application. But I have a mid sized audio studio and the walls are painted and made of drywall so alleviate parts of the foam being stuck to the wall should I need to remove or relocate it; I use very small black finish nails and place one in each corner of the foam. It does the same job as an adhesive if applied properly without the sticky residue left on my walls. Additionally, the foam won't come down unless I manually remove it and should I ever decide to remove any or all areas of the foam from my walls; the most I have to repair are very small holes to repaint. I don't personally think it requires that much more work to use finishing nails as opposed to adhesives except you eliminate the hammer from the equation. But the benefit outweighs the labor for me because I can safely remove the foam whenever I'd like with no damage to the foam (so it's reusable) and extremely minimal damage to the wall area. When using adhesives, the sticky adhesive remains on the wall and if you remove the foam from the wall; there is good chance that parts of the foam will be torn off onto the wall. If you're attaching the foam to non-porous areas such as metal doors; then the adhesive would obviously be the better way to go as opposed to poster strips. I have a metal door and have used 3M Super 77 adhesive and it works great if you follow the instructions properly. But I've had pieces that I've noted after applying that didn't close seamlessly with another and when I attempted to remove and reposition the piece, part of the foam was left on the door. I can't say I've ever attempted using poster strips but I think the adhesive is much stronger and if not applied properly allowing adequate time to dry, the foam won't stick to the surface very long. So it all comes to a matter of preference.

is the color true black or closer to charcoal?

It's more of a charcoal in my opinion, not solid black.

How can I air these out once they are already on the wall? And is the “new” smell something I should worry about health wise?

Hello, yes, they can be taken out carefully once they are already on the wall. And the smell of "new" item is normal, please don't worry, they have nothing un-healthy, thank you.
