Country Rock singer/guitarist Joe Ely's last two albums for MCA. 'Musta Notta Gotta Lotta' made the US Top 200. Still recording and gigging, Ely remains a strong influence on many artists. Digitally remastered and slip-cased, and with new notes.

Two albums recorded in the early 80s on one CD. I suppose if you wanted to pigeon hole Ely you could describe him as a very very good country rock artist. Though the man has been around for decades and toured with The Clash, Rolling Stones, Tom Petty etc. for some reason he has never achieved much commercial success. On the first album he seems to have taken his inspiration from 50s rock and there are no bad tracks and a few which are outstanding. On the second album which came out as he may have been on the verge of breaking through commercially he seems to have tried something different using synthesizers in places . This it seems did not go down well with his fan base and I believe the album flopped. Again some outstanding tracks but a couple which for me don't work very well and one track which if hoping for commercial success should have been left off.In my opinion the first album is a five star or four and a half if feeling a bit mean and the second is a four star but I have given the compilation five stars because of its excellent value for money.
