IFI Sabre 53SHO500PS 500mm Passivated Steel Door Restrictor

I have Anglian patio doors which can open past 90 degrees so I purchased 1 of the '1 x 500mm Passivated Steel Restrictor Door Stay with Adjustable Friction pad - Holds Open at 135°' - to see if it fitted. I ordered the second one once I had fitted the first successfully. The first one didn't come with instructions so I winged it as it was only a matter of ensuring there is enough travel to open and close the door. When the second one came it had instructions with it and a handy piece of information I could have done with for the first one was to lock the stay in place before fitting as this give you the end of the range at one end.The stay pops into the Euro groove which all modern doors have I believe, my photos will show you how it sits. The stay itself is sturdy and providing you fit it correctly, at the fully open position a pin in the stay pops into a retaining clip, a tug on the door pops it out and the door will close. There is a tension screw (see the photos) which is the restrictor and stops the door from swinging, you can adjust this to how stiff you want the doors. Since fitting, we've had a few windy days and only the stiffest of gusts have blown the door out of the retainer, the door then didn't slam as it would have before fitting the stay as the restrictor made sure there was enough resistance.Rather than use the screws provided I used these, excellent self tappers - 'uPVC Self Tapping Screws - 3.9mm X 32mm - 25 Pack' Some have said that the supplied screws are too long but as you'll see in my photo there isn't a lot of difference between the two (gold colour is the supplied screws).I should have bought these years ago, they are easy to fit and are doing the job of restricting the door opening and preventing door slamming.

This worked well for our new French doors, I wanted a way to keep them swinging around in the wind without using hooks fixed to the frame.They were very easy to fit, but only AFTER I'd found that another customer who WAS lucky enough to receive instructions, had shared them in their product review to help others (thank you!)It's not windy so I can't comment on how effective they are in adverse weather, but it seems sturdy enough and just needs a firm pull to close the doors.They seem to be great value for money, and are actually very simple so I can't imagine them failing any time soon.Could've been a five star review, but not including instructions is a bit lazy and careless.

Work perfectly well. It holds the door open well and stops it swinging in the wind. Great value for money and save the door becoming damaged.

These were incredibly easy to fit and came with all required screws. It took less than 20 minutes to fit to 2 doors and worked perfectly first time.These door stays not only add some friction to the doors to stop them swinging, they also have a catch so that when doors are fully opened the catch is engaged and the door cannot be closed without some real grunt, I think this must be designed for leaving doors open in hurricane winds! We never actually open the doors all the way but the adjustable friction is more than enough to stop the doors moving in strong winds.These worked so well my neighbors asked me to order and fit a 90 degree one for their door, that also went without issue.

I had one o my restrictors broken for literally years now because i wasn't sure how to replace it or even if it could be replaced.Saw these while looking for something else and it reminded me i really need to do something before the wind shatters the patio door glass into a 1000 pieces...Bloody glad i did, these were so simple to fit, literally push the clip into the lock position and line it up, screw the small bar into the frame, open the door to where you want it to stop, and then screw the door screws in. job done. 10 mins. They are so good, and so simple, i changed the one on the non broken door too just for the hell of it.Wish i had done it years ago then my door wouldnt have a few marks where it hit the brickwork.

Installed it today and it works fine. The "hold open" feature is very good - it really holds the door open even in a strong breeze.However it took 1 hour to fit as my uPVC door from Everest has a metal frame just below the surface of the protective uPVC, and so the screws supplied were far too long for the shallow depth of the uPVC. Had to search my toolbox for 16mm screws instead. Also the uPVC was quite solid so pilot holes had to be drilled - despite the instructions saying pilot holes are not required. For that reason I give the door restrictor 4 stars.

I have had this several years and still works well. Unlike its predecessor bought from another source it has been pretty robust.

J'avais besoin de ce limiteur pour empêcher une fenêtre de venir exploser ma paroi de douche en verre. J'ai eu du mal à trouver ce que je voulais et c'est encore Amazon qui grâce à son bon référencement m'a permis de trouver le mouton à 5 pattes que je voulais.Cette équerre fonctionne impeccablement avec mes fenêtres PVC. Placée en haut elle ne se voit pas sauf si on le sait. Très bonne surprise c'est un lot de deux équerres qui est vendu là. Seul bémol, ce n'est pas immédiat à installer et j'ai dû m'y reprendre à deux fois à cause d'une notice peu claire et de la difficulté de prendre des cotes à ces endroits d'une fenêtre. C'est la raison pour laquelle je ne met que 4* mais je ne pense pas qu'aucun système de ce genre sauf un bricolage moche ne soit facile à installer. Esthétiquement le résultat final est parfait et c'est le plus important.
