Upgrade to ceramic disc precise retrofit to OEM
I do not write many reviews, but when something is worthy of it, I certainly am willing to put my words behind it. (the only caveat I would add to that statement, is these are only freshly installed, so I have not been using them save more than about a month and change. If something were to change, I will update the review accordingly.)I have to say I am very impressed with this cartridge. A few years ago I did a master bathroom full gut / renovation, & at the time I also changed out all the faucet fixtures in the house, except for one, which was in my upstairs guest bathroom, as it is behind a fiberglass tub enclosure, the wall behind it was the upstairs exterior stucco wall to the house itself, so there was no easy access to change out the entire valve body/faucet completely.I had an entire renovation project at the time, so I just left the old faucet in place.Fast fwd ,& I use this guest bathroom for fast showers since there’s no glass to squeegee as in my renovated master bath. But I quickly realized the old OEM cartridge with the rubber O-rings inside, was squeaking & getting harder to turn (also have very hard water), so I knew it would start leaking soon.So I found this retrofit, ceramic disc cartridge, as well as the accompanying trim plates by the same manufacturer. I’m very impressed with all of these pieces. Not only did they fit precisely with an OEM fit, there were no leaks (as a tip use KY jelly to lubricate all of the O-rings when installing), but literally zero issues with the install as well as post install operation.Turning that handle on the ceramic disc is just like all of the other Hansgrohe faucets that I put in the house during the renovation. Without fail, this was money well spent on this retrofit cartridge. (unless, for some unforeseen reason, it does not hold up reliably across time, which I have not had it long enough to assess.)

Was able to ID this cartridge after removing the old one. This is the exact replacement. The valve operates so smoothly now!

Which cartridge to buy?
I have a Price Pfister OX8-JX8 shower valve. It's several years old, and was never "quite right." The only problem was that the water never came out quite hot enough in spite of the limiter being set to full hot. The hottest was just warm. I finally decided to replace the cartridge. Price Pfister lists two replacement cartridges, for this valve, the 9743210 and the 9740420. Which to use? So I bought both. The 9740420 was identical to the factory cartridge. The 9743210 was a couple bucks more and has a black body and a yellow temperature limiter. That's the one I put in.Installation was easy. Price Pfister has a nice how-to video on their site. There was only one problem. After installation, the shower handle didn't go fully onto the shaft. A quick measurement with a vernier caliper showed that the black shaft keys were about 1/32 inch wider than the original. This had an easy solution: I shaved about 1/64 off each key with a rotary tool to a depth of about 1/2 inch. It wasn't even necessary to remove the cartridge. It worked fine. The result is a shower valve that operates perfectly and is much smoother then the original. So here's the bottom line: Take the handle off your shower valve. If it's got a white nylon shaft with one key, the 9740420 is the same as the original. It will fit perfectly. The black 9743210 will fit the housing but may not fit the handle, depending on the handle supplied with your valve. If you're willing to shave a little plastic off the shaft, the 9743210 is a superior cartridge. The bottom line is that it's a great product and superior to the factory original. You might just need to shave off a little plastic from the shaft keys. That's the reason for 4 stars.

Prefect fit!!!
Needed this part bad due to only hot water coming out of my old one. New one came pretty quick and super easy to install with a quick YouTube video

Easy to replace, saved $$$
Big hardware stores didn’t have the replacement part so I ordered this unit. I was very unfamiliar and timid with plumbing work, so I did it on a Tuesday so I could call a pro if necessary. Old, broken one came off without a hitch and this one fit perfectly! Saved big bucks and felt quite accomplished. Do remember to turn the water off to the house before replacing - I knew that much! (LOL)

Perfect replacement
Worked like a charm to replace the one that came installed in my 2016 house. I live in Louisiana and the previous homeowner had all sorts of plumbing issues not at the fault of Pfister but rather not having a water softener. The old peice was deteriorated and the o ring no long sealed properly causing a constant leak. This was simple to install. Follow the provided instructions and just make sure to look at the range of motion on your handle. Push it in and screw it tight.

good product, great fit
This product Pfister 9743210 was ordered as a replacement for the older model Pfister 9740420, which is still on sale. This product is as good as the old one in terms of functionality, quality is good from first sight. Fit is excellent. Movement is smooth. I noticed a very little bit less movement range for the handle with the newer model. The newer model is cheaper than the old one, so it is recommended, as it will be purchased again with the necessity.

Good one-piece replacement for discontinued 2-piece part
Worked perfectly to replace an old 2-part cartridge that’s no longer available (bottom in photo versus new part on top). Fast, free shipping and part is at least as good quality as the one being replaced after 10 years.BEWARE: if you don’t make a perfect seal when you put this part in the fitting, pull it out and make sure the two rubber seals at the end are properly in place and try again. Otherwise you will get dripping issues immediately or later. Also make sure you install it so the hot and cold feeds are properly lined up.

Easy to install, but leaks
I've purchased this cartridge since the one installed originally 10 years ago started leaking, i.e. water was dripping from the shower head. The part installs very easy, perfect fit, no hesitations. 2 days after installation, the water would still run for a minute after I turn it off. Every day this water running after I turn the shower off increased. Two months after the installation, water runs through the shower head for 3-5 minutes after I turn the handle to off position. Further, the water started to drip constantly once again.

Disappointed
I bought this in August as the cartridge that originally came when I bought the shower head package three years ago from Home Depot started to drip.It was instant, it was great. No more dripping.Until now. Approx 5 months and the shower head has a constant slow drip. Unfortunately I can’t return it now so a warning. Not worth the money

Perfect!!!
This is the high quality I was expecting! Other products were cheap plastic and leaks! I’d try many times to fix it with the other cheaper products, which was very frustrating. This one felt sturdy, heavy and worth the extra few dollars. I was worried it was too long but it fit properly and when screwed in, it made a perfect seal on the first try. No leaks, hot water, simply amazing Amazon! Thank you!!!
