I ordered it to use my external DVD player connected to my back USB ports which supply adequate power for the DVD drives when connected directly. Unfortunately, it did not work. The DVD drive did not get any power to turn on when connected thru this cable. So it was a complete waste for the purpose I bought.Fortunately, I also had a USB laser printer which is placed in the next table and the USB cable for that was not long enough to allow slight movement. I extened the USB cable with this and it worked perfect. Now the printer can be moved easily to allow cleaning, paper change, etc.
