Missing Mummy: A Book About Bereavement

My daughter lost her father about 2 month ago. She's aware of what happened but I didn't see any particular signs of grief yet. I've read that it can be delayed in young children. Fell in love with the illustrations and simplicity, so decided to buy this book even though the situation described differs from ours. I was quite surprised when she started asking for it over and over. In fact, this is the only book we read now, before bed and first thing in the morning. I've tried other books on bereavement, but it seems this one suits her age best. Frankly saying, I found it quite therapeutic for myself too. I seem to go through the same stages as the little boy in the book. Hope this helps. bd

This book is such a sensitive, comforting, real view of a book. We bought this for our 2 year old grandson who lost his mother. If you don't have any religious or spiritual beliefs this is a wonderful book to support children in grief.

Good to help with younger children

Beautifuly done , covers a lot

Simple language and illustrations for younger children who have lost their mum. Bought for my 3 year old great niece and she was able to identify with the story easily.

Excellently written. Without much details that can confuse a young child, the book is written in a way that explains to a child that it's ok to feel sad, and angry and scared after their mummy's death and that it's not their fault and they're still family and can keep their mummy's memories in their heart, always.

A simply beautifully written book for a complicated situation. Great for helping the reading adult know what to say to the grieving child, not overly emotive in wording, but importantly matter of fact and does not lead to over interpretation. Simple and to be treasured for sharing memories over many years.

I purchased this book as a gift for a little boy who lost his mom at only 7 years old. He didn't quite understand where his mommy went. He read this book over and over and it helped start questions for him to ask his dad. It helped start a dialogue for his dad. And it's in ways little kids can understand. I recommend this book.

A very short book but good.

Arrived on time. Good condition . Very simple nice book with a deep message I am giving to my nieces and nephews that lost their mother. In memory of my dear sister Bridgette.

Lovely book.. approaches the subject very gently. Has beautiful illustrations helping kids whose linguistic skills might not be developed.

I looked at a lot of books related to death and this is the only one that was good for every young kid that lost their mom. I plan on giving it to a friends 5 year old who just lost his mom.
