it says NOTHING about the range of temperature, no details of measures.. Complete waste of money
Very Disappointed for someone who doesn't know about body temperature for ovulation, it says NOTHING about the range of temperature.. only the thermometer.. no details of measures.. Complete waste of money

If you intend on using the basal body temperature method for family planning (either way, to try and have a child or to try to not have one), any old normal thermometer won't do. You need one that is highly accurate and has a greater precision - and that's what this thermometer gives you, without breaking the bank to do it. On the outside, it works just like any other thermometer - you turn it on, use it to take your temperature and that's about it. It has some nice features like display in both Fahrenheit and Celsius and recall of your last reading for instant comparison. It also has a fever alert (in case you're actually sick, of course) and is waterproof for easy cleaning. It comes with one battery ("button cell" or an LR41 type to be specific) and the batteries are replaceable - and the thermometer appears to be well built - so you should get a good amount of use out of it. But all that, any thermometer can do. What makes this one special - and why it's not as "instant" as some other models that just check for sickness/fever - is that it measures down to the 1/100th of a degree (so you get 98.59 vs 98.6). That's a real key for measuring basal body temperatures - changes due to ovulation are tiny, not just less than one degree, but quite often less than a tenth of a degree. Without a thermometer this precise (precision being level of measurement - it also appears to be accurate as well), you might miss a change from 98.58 -> 98.63 since most thermometers report both as 98.6. Not this one. And that's why it's special, and worth well more than the asking price. So if you want to track fertility using temperature, this is a great tool to pick up!

Veridian Healthcare basal digital thermometer for ovulation tracking. Hubby and I are TTC so I got this as a “backup” basal thermometer. However, it quickly became my favorite over the original. This reads out fast! In only 60 seconds tops. It shuts off automatically when not in use but you can also hold the button to turn it off. It also comes with extensive instructions in English and Spanish. As well as a separate chart in both languages for tracking your cycle. And a 1 year warranty! The tip is made from a waterproof(silicone?) material that’s easy to clean. It takes some getting used to but is better than biting down on cold metal first thing in the morning. I have to admit, I wasn’t expecting much but I love how fast it is compared to my fancy 40 dollar Femometer one which literally takes 3 minutes! It also has no screen, the battery port requires a special “key”, and it has to be connected to their app to function. And you have to pay to get all of the premium features! Take my advice as a first timer learning the ropes and go with this cheaper version! This little thermometer is awesome. Also, for those that don’t know… the difference between a basal thermometer and a regular one is the extra digit on the end. I.e. 92.58 Vs the regular 92.5. It’s specifically made for family planning but can be used to detect fevers in a pinch.

In the beginning I did like this thermometer, but after my first month of using it it’s driving me crazy. At times it takes 3 seconds and gives me a temperature, so I take it again, and it’s completely different from the first so I take it again. All of these numbers will be different and it’s all within the span of 1-2 minutes and it’s not like it’s gradually going up. Sometimes the lowest is the 2nd or 3rd. I’m just not sure how accurate it is, I’ll be getting a different one.
