New Balance Men's 481 V3 Trail Running Shoe

I bought these for my guy's birthday as he likes New Balance, and he said he couldn't be happier with the fit, style, and comfort level of these athletic shoes. His foot size is 10.5 but I bought a size 11 as that's what he wears in athletic shoes (and I as well always order a half size up in athletic shoes). The 11's fit him perfectly.A very good point: he said these shoes were comfortable from the time he put them on. That's a good sign--you don't want a shoe that you feel you have to 'break in' - shoes should feel good as soon as you put them on your feet!They are lightweight but sturdy. The tread is good for light 'hiking' (an even and not too rocky trail), and would be great for walking or gym workouts. He's not a runner, but he could do a light jog in them. Supportive. Comfortable. And they look great.

Update: have had em a few weeks now and while they are great for trumping around Arizona trails (lots of rocks) they are so comfy I have taken to wearing them all day long. GREAT support and feel.Based on User Reviews I ordered both 11 x wide and 11.5 x wide since many people claimed they ran small. This was NOT my experience. My normal 11, 4E size fit true to form and the general feel of the shoe is nice and comfy. I do 'feel' the toe box a bit but I am not sure that does not just have to do with how I have laced them. Also, I am not used to wearing 'hard' shoes as normally I wear running shoes which have a 'soft' upper and toe box, so no comparison.Sending the 11.5s back today, thank you PRIME!!!The shoes look awesome, I really like the style and colors. Laces seem puny, which makes 2 from NB with cheap laces. I hate that as they tie up in knots easily. Someone wrote they are now made in Idonesia. That sucks, NB has always marketed "made in USA".Overall for 62 bucks I think they will great for hiking in AZ where we have lots of rocks and it get HOT. This seems a good choice. I will update after having used them a while.

I’ve been buying NB for years and wanted this model for trail use. The local store didn’t carry them but I figured I’ve rarely tried them on because they consistently fit. So I bought them here (online) and wasn’t disappointed. I find NB shoes last a long time and they’ve never come apart, even wearing them in all weather (including snow and rain).Over all I like these shoes.The tread design works well “off road”. I use them to walk the dogs or jog in the woods on the local dirt trails. I find them comfortable and fit as expected and the traction is good. Also, mud doesn’t cake in them, I’m able to easily stamp the dirt off.Two downsides: 1) the laces are thin (yet strong) strings which easily slide through the eyelets which I find difficult to snug the shoe. I pull and when cinching the knot they let go just a bit. Plus they come undone often. It has been difficult to tighten the bottom and work up because they slide through the holes quickly. My running shoes have thicker laces and stay tight. Yes, Laces are simple to replace.2) the arch support could be better. They do have support, but I could use a bit more. Other shoes I’ve had came with little shims, it would be nice if NB could do something like that.

This is a nice set of shoes. I purchased them and was amazed how fast they arrived. I was even more amazed that their were two shoes in the box. I thought you only received one shoe but no you get two. Also the beautiful box that the shoes were packaged in they put both shoes in one box. I say to myself what will they think of next. The quality of the shoes were really good and were a good fit right out of box they came in. I must say that if you need a fine set of shoes these will fit the bill. All in all this was a great experience shopping at my local Amazon shoe store where they apparently have a buy one shoe and get one shoe free deal going on. One other nice thing about these shoes is that they came with laces and get this the laces were already put on the shoes talk about a time saver. In conclusion I would walk briskly to my nearby Amazon shoe store and give these New Balance shoes a try.

Fantastic shoe. This is what 774 miles will get you on rough desert and rocky mountain 5 days a week for 5-6 months. Rubber was starting to peel about 600 miles on the sides but kept going. Probably could've replaced the insert and it would've lasted a little bit longer on the treads though it wasn't gripping all too well in rain at this point. Got my money's worth, would recommend. Bought this twice in a row and each time it's been fine, ran the last pair until the bottom had a hole in the treads. They work, they last, they're comfortable enough for what you'll need. Sadly trying a newer model this time around, but that doesn't make this particular shoe any less great. Best trail shoe so far for me.

New Balance is my go-to brand whenever possible. I've worn many iterations of the 623 for decades. This time I wanted something a little sportier, less blah "walking shoe". So, I tried the 481V3. They are fantastic. Several things - First, the laces have that extra hole near the top that makes a much better, secure, fit. My heel is firmly held down, no slipping up and down. It helps hold so much better that I can't "kick" these off like I can will my 623's. Second - They do look sportier and I've had several people ask what they are. That never happened with the 623.Now the not so good part - these are NOT slip resistant. Wet tile floor = slip and slide. Watch out.Overall - I love them. Just be careful if you work around wet floors.

I have exclusively bought New Balance shoes for the last 15+ years now because of the quality they bring to the table. This pair of shoes is quality made but has one major flaw for me, the tongue is not even close to being wide enough. It is as if they took the tongue for a much smaller size of shoe that is normal width and just super-imposed it on this pair. I ordered a 14 X-Wide and the shoe itself fits fine. However, I struggle to close the tongue gap not show my socks. Sometimes I can pull it tight enough to and sometimes I have about 1/4 inch or more gap on one side. I've never had this problem with any pair of shoes, let alone New Balance. It's embarrassing. The tongue for this shoe, for any wide or other shoe, should be about a 1/2 inch wider than what it is. I bought three pairs at once and this is the first one I am finally getting to after my other ones wore out so there is no recourse for returns. Severely disappointed. The other thing I noticed with this pair is that it has a bit of a forward lean to them when standing. It pushes your toes to the front.

I wish I could buy a couple more pair of these

Really uncomfortable. They don’t feel like any New Balance I’ve had before. Very sore on the soles of my feet. Didnt come with any tags of other product info. Bit dodgy maybe.Also, please confirm delivery date before you buy as the date changed significantly between me clicking buy and the confirmation email coming through.

Only used for walking not running.Very comfortable.Shoe strings a tad too long.
