How do you know if you need a 6' or a 8'?

I ordered the 8 ft and it is too long. Should have gotten the 6 ft. I am 5'3" and it is plenty long. We all use the 6' in class

Are the D-Rings solid or split? if u feel with ur fingers in straight part of d-ring under the fabric of the strap can u feel a separation?

they are split but the seam is tight and it is very strong. I have used it a year almost everyday and the seam shows no sign of separating.
