So Good, I Bought It Twice!
This Pentel Orenz AT Dual Grip pencil is, without a doubt, one of the best mechanical pencils I have ever used. It feels so solid and comfortable in the hand that after buying one for myself, I immediately purchased a second one for my son. The build quality is immediately noticeable. The full metal body gives it a satisfying weight that I really enjoy in a pencil, making it feel substantial and balanced. The textured grip is another highlight; it's incredibly comfortable and doesn't cause any irritation or fatigue, even during long writing sessions. What really sets the Orenz AT apart is its automatic lead feeding system. The lead advances itself as you write, so you never have to stop and click. This has been a game-changer for my son, who primarily uses print writing and benefits greatly from the continuous, uninterrupted workflow. A quick tip: to get the best performance out of this pencil, I highly recommend pairing it with high-quality lead. The mechanism is precise, and good lead makes the experience even smoother. I will absolutely be buying more of these in the future. It's the perfect gift for anyone in your life who truly values a great writing instrument. Highly recommended!

My new "go to" pencil
Great pencil. I don't write with pencil a lot, but when i do, very annoyed by breaking lead. This pencil writes smoothly (I worried about the sleeve rubbing the paper and feeling it scratch but I have never had that happen) and I don't think I've broken lead even once. Even if this costs a little more for the pencil, if I break lead a lot, I go through led faster ... this saves a little $ in using less lead d/t broken pieces, but also saves a whole lot of time and frustration advancing, clearing small pieces of lead, etc. Worth it if only for that last issue! It is not heavy, but has a little heft to it - feels about right to me, weight wise. If you like heavy, this might be too light for you. Not sure if it's all metal (aluminum?) or if part(s) of barrel are plastic, but it feels high quality and smooth. The grip is tactile enough to provide decent grip. I personally like a little more texture, but it's not bad. I don't like thin pencils - I wear "large" gloves. I'd call this one 'medium' and it's certainly adequate size to be comfortable even w large hands. Not being large/thick I imagine it would be if you have smaller hands too. Finish is matte black, not shiny. I like that.

My perspective
If all you want to know is weather or not I'd recommend this mechanical pencil, the answer is yes. Here's the story: I purchased this product because I enjoy sketching with 3B and 4B lead. The day I got it, I spent about a half hour writing with it to understand the boundaries and get a good feel for the tool. To keep this little adventure short, I realized this pencil excels as a writing instrument. And unless your sketches consist mainly of short lines, or you draw with a fairly perpendicular and heavy hand, the experience might not be as rewarding as you'd hope. This pencil is well made, it looks and feels good in the matte black, it writes comfortably for its size, and lands clean against my ruler. Because of the design of the dispensing mechanism, this product is ideal for a writer, the student, the note taker, drafting, and so forth. Artists should probably look elsewhere. No lead breakages, and the lead does extract automatically as intended. Cheers!

Awesome pencil
Feels amazing in your hand, spins pretty nice. Writing feels smooth like butter. The lead mechanism is a little weird sometimes but works perfectly most of the time

Nice pencil
Great pencil for me as it hits the most “pluses” of my needs: auto advance, retractable tip, comfortable (not the most). I use 4B lead with it and for the most part, the auto advance will keep up. I may need to click once every paragraph or so, which I don’t mind. With harder leads it works just fine. Some cons for me: Not the most comfy to write with, but useable. The Staedtler 925 and rotring 600/800 were better. An auto-advance version of those would have beaten this one. The most comfortable pencil for me is a smooth, round wooden pencil (Musgrave News 600 being my favorite). The Staedtler 925 was close and its mild knurling felt good. The Rotrings barrels were a bit small for my large hands, but still nice to write with The eraser cap sticks a bit somewhat every time you put it back on, causing the lead to advance. Just an annoyance. I just use it sans the cap

Writes And Feels Like A Pen, Amazing
I really love mechanical pencils, and the concept behind this one is that as the lead is used, the metal sleeve retracts as well, essentially providing a protection from snapping the lead. On top of that, a single click advances both lead and sleeve allowing for an extended use period. Design-wise, the pencil is very handsome with a "tech" feel and vibe. The texture is adequately grippy, but not aggressive and If I did not know better, would think this was a fine pen. Does this pencil provide more value at $20+ that other mechanical pencils at way lower price point do not provide? The objective answer is "no", at the end of the day this is just a mechanical pencil. However, if there was ever a reason or need to have a pencil to be proud of, that accomplishes both value in its visual design, and value in its utility as a really great mechanical pencil, the price point starts to make sense. The pencil is heavily machined, and is also metal, so it will have a weighted feel to it that honestly is quite a welcome sensation when writing with lead. Overall, this pencil is perhaps more than any pencil really should be but that is okay here. Great to write with, great to look at, and certainly unique.

I tried it for myself
I have seen a lot of debates on this pencil online, some praise it, while others talk about how it has a lot of problems. I bought it for myself to see for myself. I think this is an amazing pencil, it has a nice feel of quality good plastic, and is neat for drawing but mostly for writing. The lead is very close to the sleeve, so it looks like it is not out but it is. do not use too hard of pressure or the sleeve may rip the paper, just use gentle pressure using the weight of the pencil. I highly recommend this pencil, and you should get it if you have been considering it.

Lapiseira de muita qualidade. Recomendo.
Produto de ótima qualidade. Único ponto que me chamou a atenção, e precisa de adaptação, é a folga no grafite devido a ponta retrátil e de alimentação automática da lapiseira. Mas é um produto de muita qualidade.

Great but a little pricy
It's a great pencil that feels very premium. The one downside would be the price.

Qualité supérieure
Magnifique. Bel objet en plus d'être super efficace. Un peu cher mais si vous travaillez beaucoup, ça vaut la peine.
